You are right.I’m a very picky reader whatever I’ve read so far, I’ve never once regretted it because I always choose wisely before starting a novel.

I don’t read novels that include any of the following:

Stories where the female lead dominates the power dynamics or gets significantly more screen time than the male lead.

Novels where the male lead lowers himself or becomes weak just to win over the female lead.

Sad or tragic endings.

Harem or concubine-focused plots.

Stories where the main couple is already the emperor and empress from the beginning.

Novels where the female lead is a general.

Transmigration themed stories.

Wuxia.xiaxia

Supernatural elements ...

Nope

The C-novel that made me give up on C-dramas was Spring River, Flowers and Moon by Peng Lai Ke.
Also, adaptations can never surpass the original novels.

If you like novel try Marry the villain. It's my best read of the year.

I know it’s not super popular or highly rated, but I don’t think that means it’s not good. What people enjoy in 2025 is different from what’s genuinely well-made. For me, this series felt personal,like it was made just for me. Thank you to the team for creating something so special.
