Please sell me my time back
God... where do I even start....The script wasn't great. The conversations felt very "high school student who's writing a conversation for the first time".
The so called banter didn’t make sense a lot of the time. He's supposed to be a fan, yet it constantly shows him being distasteful towards his idol. It would make sense if they tried to make it so that he's trying to hide that he's a fan but that never seemed to be the case. He also kept getting disappointed that Gang Jae wasn't the person he showed himself to be, which could have been a good plot line of Ji U shifting to see him from an idol to an actual person but no. If literally was there for no reason. Because no matter how many times he seemed almost disgusted with Gang Jae, they would randomly show him back at being his 100% fan online.
I should have know the show was bad on the first episode, when the main couple meet, and the show tells us three freaking times in the next 5 minutes about "the tension" they had. The tension in question was them shaking hands and telling each other they're fans of one another, which somehow no one including them heard saying???
The plot, none sensical from the beginning. A professional soccer team with half players that can't play. They don't even train them, apart from training the relationship between in each other😭
Even if you ignore the premise of the show, the plot does not get better. They put in random storylines that never really lead anywhere. It almost seems like they cut scenes in between as well. Like the dream thing. We suddenly see a flashback of a dream Gang Jae had. Except, there was never a scene where he had that dream before??
And oh😩 The acting. Especially the one playing Gang Jae. It's literally high school amateur level. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was trying to overreact and have cliché, non-realistic expressions for, I don't even know, comedy reasons?? And not to sh*t on him, he's not ugly in any way, but he does look his age. And that age does not look the same as the others so making him and Ji U the same age was just an added inconsistency to the mix.

More like watching a tragedy than a romance.
The actors are incredible, they did a great job portraying the characters and their emotions. The love story however is just depressing. Mostly, because it's not a love story and shouldn't have been portrayed as such, the ml does not truly love the fl. He has affection for her sure, but he loves himself way more and has absolutely no respect for her. None. He hurts her with words, abandons her, lies to her, says he will protect her but let's his mother bully her, not to mention how he keeps hanging with the women he told her and a bunch of other peiole he loves. The worst part is he sees how it affects her, he sees her get mad, sad and crying, he even found out she could have died because of him. And what does he do? He continues doing whatever he wants. He wants her so she can't leave him no matter how much he hurt her. There was no indication of change in his behaviour either. Honestly, watching this was worse than watching an outright abusive relationship. Because at least then it would be harder to excuse it as some romantic drama. It's not.Was this review helpful to you?
I finally understand what 답답해 feels like
I knew what this show was before starting. That it was slow, more about life than romance, etc. My criticism isn't with any of that. The show is suppose to be more soul-ish. I just can't understand how anyone likes this show with such bad characters. None of them are likeable, which would be fine if there was something else about them or this drama. But it's supposed to be all about the characters and their lives, hence it's just about a bunch of annoying, unsatisfactory people, filled with moments that personally don't make sense to me, especially the amount of time they, out of nowhere, start talking about something "deep". The way they do it feels so unnatural. You're telling me a grown man is suddenly talking in detail about the loss of his parents and bullying experience in a public café, with his colleagues he barely knows and some supervisor. Just like that? Same with the monologues that are supposed to be all relatable and deep but they just don't have the right timing to really hit. I was really looking forward to this so I promise I'm not trying to be a hater. However, after 10 episodes, I feel like I've been mentally kidnapped by this show and its frustrating characters. Was this review helpful to you?
Cinematography and acting good. The rest not so
It was a fine, slightly boring watch. Not the masterpiece some reviews pretend it is. I don't know if it's the fact that it's a darker bl that people seem so hyped about it. Yet the story/script just isn't that good. The cinematography is definetly the best thing about the show. The shots and fight scenes are very well filmed. The acting isn't bad either. The story however is very surface level. The relationship between the leads or between flying dagger and his dad and uncle didn't interest me as the characters never connected. The story felt very much like it was telling me the steps of a story without really dwelling on the feelings of it or on who the characters really are. And I'm someone who watches short dramas a lot so I know first hand that you can make a story connect with viewers even in a short time. Was this review helpful to you?
Turn off your head and enjoy the ride
Look, logistically speaking, this show isn't the best. Important events never get mentioned again (the husband, the crime, the sa, etc) and the story relies very heavily on crazy coincidences, especially with the lead couple somehow meeting each other by accident every other day😂 Despite that, it's a very nice watch. The pacing is good. There's drama to entertain you but it never hurts you, meaning it never crosses the line to actual angst. The characters are enjoyable, they are also all flawed which makes them seem more real. As others mentionned, the time skip was a weird decision but it lasts for five minutes so not that big of a deal. The romance at the end with the lead couple was a bit disappointing which is my only negative. Even after officially being together, they still act like shy teenagers throughout their whole relationship. Which maybe could pass if it was their first ever relationship, but they're 30 years old grown people, one of them being divorced. It's just not realistic and makes it a bit weird. Was this review helpful to you?
Okay Watch
I'm usually a sucker for these kinds of movies. It has the underdogs, the action and the bromance. However, none of those really hit that much, all aspects of it kind of feel "meh". The movie tried to present a lot of different characters, but none of them were developed, so no one felt "real". Which then made it impossible to connect to them. It comes to the point that I didn't care what would happen to anyone. The action scenes were literally all the same, he gets beat up over and over again, then gets up and suddenly takes over the fight. Throughout, I kept waiting for the moment the movie will hook me, only for the end to come. Was this review helpful to you?
Felt like a completely different tv shows by the 2/3 of it?
I usually don't care much about the story as long as the romance is good. Plot is a background concern. However, they really pushed it too far here😂🤡 I'll start with the good, as I loved how the relationship between the leads had no stupid angst. No love triangle, misunderstanding, breakups and all that. I now understand that they didn't make a mess of their relationshio because they put the mess everywhere else on the show lol. They did make the ml too perfect, within the relationship he has no flaws but writers made the fl exhibit behaviours that don't really make sense. Then again, seeing the latter part of the series, the writer obviously aren't the most logical. Both leads act well enough, I especially like the ml but that might be biased since I've liked the actor in other things. The male villains of the story fell short on acting for me though. I also really, really appreciate that the women who like the ml weren't made into men-crazed characters. Now, let's talk about the mess. Because that's what the plot is, a mess. Around episode 20, the show makes a 180°. Now, it wouldn't be so bad if there was any foreshadowing in the beginning. But literally the foreshadowing (nuts) happens in the same episode the plot changes💀 The show also gives the villain way too much screen time that isn't of much substance. Was this review helpful to you?
Not enjoyable
It's hard to root for a romance when there's a killed invloved that doesn't get consequences for it. Yes, at the end we see some guilt but throughout the movie the fl disregards the situation and even seems to forget about it. Also we never see proof that she changed. She made prejudices and made selfish decisions at the beginning but we never see her being put in the same situation and choosing otherwise. Furthermore, I found the pacing and the scenes to be made in a way that just doesn't work. I find it hard to put into words, but the experience wasn't like a smooth flow, more like random scenes from some people's lives put together. Was this review helpful to you?
Frustrating Watch
It can be intresting to show a story about how bad communication can affect relationships. Yet, this is not that. The "conflict" was talked about in the beginning, yet they still managed to drag it throughout the whole series. Then, the nonsensical full 180° where the guy goes from adamantly rejecting to literally chasing. Regardless, at the end of the day, it is supposed to be a romance show. However, you don't find yourself rooting for the couple. How can you when they are miserable with each other for 90% of the show. Was this review helpful to you?

Comfort Watch
If you like cozy tv shows that just make you forget about life this is it! The romance is well paced, not too slow, not too fast. The acting is good too. There are some "stereotypical" shy acting but I see that it is common in Japanese shows so I don't judge. Furthermore, and I usually don't notice these things, but I really liked the camera work! Especially the way certain "subtle" looks were framed with not only the zoom into the face that makes it too on the nose. Was this review helpful to you?

Bright Potentional, Disappointing Outcome
If I were to rate on acting performance alone, this movie would be a 10. The subtle expressions, the tension, those the two actors pull off greatly. It is a shame it came with a lesser script. The relationship has no depth, and no other storyline gets it either. The kiss comes out of nowhere, followed by an unseen, ambiguous relationship, to then an abrupt separation. Only for a reunion to come out of nowhere. It feels like a puzzle with only the center pieces put in place, you still see a pretty picture, but it is incomplete. Was this review helpful to you?
A feel good drama
A comfort drama full of love, friendship, and just the different realities of life. I love that they covered many topics that kdramas especially don't really like to touch on. Yet, it's not an angsty drama, that will fill you up with anxiety, it's still a light watch. The characters are all flawed but that makes them intresting and relatable. I did see people complain about just how many different plotlines there are which makes the storylines a bit underdeveloped, but honestly I didn't even notice that until after I watched. Because at the end of the day, to me, the success of this show wasn't about the logistics but about all the feelings it brings in you.Was this review helpful to you?
Fascinating Watch
I never would have thought that watching people do math and other intellectual problems could be so entertaining. I'm a college dropout so seeing how intelligent those students were was truly fascinating. Loved the competition and the teamwork. Huge respect to every single participant, whether they lost or not, every round was well done. Hyunbin though stole my heart with not only his incredible, and I really mean INCREDIBLE brain, but the way he led with empathy, making sure to encourage his team all the time. Was this review helpful to you?
