You mean that overdone trope that's in every costume drama, lol. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it here…
A person who read the source novel explained that in the book the battle takes place in open water, FL falls from the boat (or somewhere else), has a fear of water, drowns and that’s why ML saving her makes sense. But doing that in the shallow river in the drama made it funny. 😆
I’d rate Fake It Till You Make It or Begin Again (2024) as slightly better modern dramas about adult love although…
I have some that I’m currently watching and others that I finished, but definitely not as many as modern dramas.
My favorite historical drama is Are You the One. It’s not super crazy emotionally deep but it has a perfect blend of drama & comedy for my taste. And the writing is very solid — it’s the drama I rewatch periodically when I get tired of tropes and cliches that populate even mega-$$$ dramas (*cough* two seasons of Flourished Peony *cough*).
On xianxia/wuxia/fantasy I loved When Destiny Brings the Demon, Love in the Clouds, Love in the Clouds, The Immortal Ascension, Love Between Fairy and Devil, Love Game in Eastern Fantasy… probably some others I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Another Miss Oh was very interesting. It was one of the rare dramas where I wasn’t sure about the ending and would’ve accepted even an unhappy ending (Queen of Tears was a bit like that too).
L&P was good but, frankly, I couldn’t wait to get to the present timeline — it was more interesting to me , especially because they pay off (why he ended up in jail) was not very smart. But — still — much better than Eat Run Love where they attempted to replicate L&P magic.
TL;DR — I love the flashbacks approach like in The First Frost slightly more :)

Yay, it’s great to know I’m not the only person on MDL hyping up FITYMI!
I meant 2024 Begin Again with Elvin Han. Not only was he in FITYMI but the director of Begin Again (2024) is the same… and 1-2 songs from FITYMI make an appearance. FYI, unlike FITYMI, Begin Again has two couples which share screen time almost equally — instead of ML+FL and 2ML+2FL, it’s more like Pair 1A and Pair 1B.
The Tale of Rose is on my watch list.
I’ve been unsure about What If. Do you like the dual timelines structure? How is the writing?
On FL’s side, things are made pretty clear. But what’s going on with the ML is still not clear through first…
I agree. Figuring out what’s up with ML & the girl who is helping him is part of a mystery that’s keeping us interested :) Personally, I try to stay away from even reading MDL summaries because they often contain spoilers or are incorrect.

Yes, that one! It’s so, so overused! The funniest one happened in Legend of the Female General when a female character fell into an ankle-deep water and they STILL managed to turn it into an ocean-rescue level underwater kiss 🤣🤣🤣
One of my top ongoing series at the moment. The only thing that does not sit right with me is how easily MC visits…
Yes, this drama definitely takes some liberties and some things would not work like that in a real world. But it’s a very easy watch because it skips most annoying tropes :) If you haven’t watch it, K-drama Love Scout is an excellent drama about mature love (it gets great 1-2 episodes in). C-dramas Fake It Till You Make It and Begin Again (2024) are also great although they are more realistic and less comedic (Fake It is 10/10 for me 🥰).
making SFL like ML is a weird choice to me, could have skip that in the script, but anyway 😅at least that was…
Really wish the neighbor got a potential romantic interest but at least she helped bring ML & FL closer. P.S. In a real world, she definitely would not have brought Dao along with her for a month-long training in Beijing, but that’s nitpicking :)
This Drama takes the 🏆 for the best Modern romcom CDRAMA.No cheesy rib-tickling, no "man-pleasing"…
I’d rate Fake It Till You Make It or Begin Again (2024) as slightly better modern dramas about adult love although they are not as comedic (more serious). But this is a delightful drama that is indeed refreshingly unusual 🥰
The meteor ☄️ lore is fine and not unusual. There was a drama with Victoria that featured alien foxes 🦊…
Alien or supernatural is at least a little bit similar. It’s more complicated for other dramas that feature multiple lives, travel to the past/fantasy worlds, etc. Those always have to be explained away as a dream/not real which makes many people roll their eyes, especially if they read source material. But good dramas still make it work and even publish post-finale materials (like on Weibo) to make sure fans understand it was NOT a dream 😁

Oh, very interesting. I didn’t know it was because of the censorship. But, for real, the lore of alien foxes is sooooo crazy — they even played the explanation as intro in every episode 🤣🤣🤣
I thought the first few episodes were awesome. A great combination of action and story. They're trying to build…
On FL’s side, things are made pretty clear. But what’s going on with the ML is still not clear through first 4 episodes. Not a complaint — just a summary :)
