That was pretty much our reaction as we watched it in real time 😳🙄
The thing is they are also not really enforceable unless they are notarized and drafted by attorneys who actually know all the legal aspects. But at this point we just have to accept this will keep happening in dramas similar to childhood connection trope 😁
The actress is really great though. And she’s a super nice person in real life and worked very hard to support her sister (who is in TWICE) during her medical troubles.
Sorry for asking, so the mom of the FL and the mom of the ML were like close friends when they were younger, correct?
Yes, they are not true sisters so ML & FL aren’t blood related. ML’s mom was sent to live with FL’s mom’s family when she was young (mentioned in ep. 1).
how’s this doing in china? is it the most anticipated drama rn?
I think The First Jamine has more reservations (6.7 million?) so it’s more hyped up. But that can be a double-edged sword. Sometimes, it’s better to have slightly less expectations & less hype which avoids armies of haters who downvote dramas usually. That’s how “When Destiny Brings a Demon” survived and thrived — most haters & trolls were too busy downvoting “Moonlit Reunion” (dramas by same author; came out at the same time, but Moonlit Reunion was more popular novel and had more stars in their cast). It took months for poor Moonlit Reunion to recover from attacks and attain a respectable score.
This is definitely a very good slow-burn drama for people in early-30s (or later) who are looking for more realistic content. I’d say it’s somewhere between a typical idol romcom and a realistic romance drama like “Fake It Till You Make It”. Highky recommended to watch.
Why is it so low rated it deserved 8.5 or 8.8The chemistry between them was so crazy and this was definitely one…
Probably because it’s not a true idol drama. This is more for an older audience and is more serious/realistic compared to a typical idol romcom for a younger audience. But it’s a rare gem 💎. For people who like their drama, “Fake It Till You Make It” is a must-watch because it’s probably the best realistic romance drama recently.
'The Best thing's original novel was written by another female writer, Sheng Li (笙离), Not Liu Cui hu...Fake…
Thank you very much for the correction — I updated my comment. I’m currently almost done watching The Rational Life (it’s leaving Netflix soon) and that drama is almost like a predecessor of Fake It — it’s way more entertaining thoughtful and deep compared to a typical idol drama.
please recommend dramas like this. I’m tired of over romance dramas.
Other dramas based on this author’s work are “Fake It Till You Make It” (you will love it; it’s best realistic romance drama) and “The Best Thing” (more like a typical idol drama but much less trope-y)
For the record, the author of this novel (Liu Cuihu) also is the author of the novel which became source of “In Between” drama. And she pretty much lived FL’s life. The author graduated from top law school in China (Peking Law) and worked as corporate lawyer before becoming an author.
EDIT: She was not an author of The Best Thing drama but that’s a very good drama too.
I originally stopped on ep. 6 and I thought the show was very good up that point. But reading episode descriptions…
I may have to watch on the mobile app so I could 1.5x through the scenes with FL’s mom. I absolutely hate the trope of overbearing/annoying parents. I really wish there were mom-free edits for Best Choice Ever or Fireworks of My Heart, lol 😂… I had never skipped any scenes in dramas until midway through Best Choice Ever when FL’s mom just became unbelievably annoying and meddlesome.
I’m giving this another try to see if I can get through it. just finished “one spring night” and there was…
