Oh, just found out that more story of the kids (and them in adulthood) is told in novel’s extras:
If you are reading the novel, look for the chapters titled "The Emperor's Childhood Sweetheart" or "Ning Niang and the Little Emperor" to find this specific content!
Feels like we were spoiled by how high the production quality was for this. Overall such an enjoyable show. High…
This drama had a very high budget (S+ tier) which might be why production company sold it to both Tencent and iQIYI (and Netflix too). Interestingly, it’s rumored the leads took slightly less money to ensure more budget would be allocated to production values and visual effects.
All good...but it stuck in my mind... Why Wei Yan get death punishment whereas the main culprit (alive) was the…
Because he was the main person behind the coup that actually overthrew the previous emperor (forced him to abdicate) and then he did a bunch of bad things to cover it up (including wiping out loyal officers like FL’s dad). But, yeah, Tutor Li got off easy for sure
Question about a letter that Wei Yan shows at end of ep. 38 and the accusations: (see spoiler)
Was there an error in translations ? I’ve watched both Netflix and iQIYI versions but don’t understand the point that Wei Yan is trying to make. At this point FL already revealed her identity as the daughter of the supposed traitor so what is Wei Yan’s point? Or are we supposed to assume that her identity hasn’t been confirmed yet (it was just rumors) and now Wei Yan is revealing her identity? But why does it matter when she’s not really hiding it and even confirmed it when walking on the street? *confused*
I was wondering why the rating dropped so much towards the end… and then I watched the ridiculous storyline in episodes 11 & 12 😳🥺🙄. Why is it so hard for K-drama writers to just give a realistic drama about young unexpected parenthood without involving past childhood trauma, criminals as relatives, and absurd plot events like in ep. 11 & 12. Sigh 😔
Netflix doesn’t offer Express Packages, so it has no way of releasing episodes early for an Adriana fee. But I’m sure someone within Netflix is working on in-app purchases for early access to mimic Chinese platforms 😁
I find it hilarious that some people who left bad reviews (and claimed to have watched all 40 episodes… even though only 35 have been released yet) also gave 10.0 rating to Fated Hearts, a drama that only had 15-16 good episodes before they replaced screenwriters with random word generators 🙄
Do you speak Mandarin? It’s a genuine question because only 35 episodes are out officially at this time (and have good subtitles). Leaked episodes are only in Mandarin and have awful subtitles which are very confusing 🫤. So how were you able to watch full 40 episodes?
