Does a backstory make a character perfect? She was a high level assassin for a reason. She doesn’t need a sob story. I meant better written in the sense that both of them were more interesting to watch, while the main leads felt plain.

That’s my favorite drama but it’s the only one where the second leads were better written characters, had better chemistry, better actors and looked better (not the male lead) than the main leads. I wonder what he’s done here with so many main characters

I guess only a fellow vertical drama watcher would love Qimin, because the reactions I saw on Twitter were extreme. But they seem to hate everything there😂Funny thing is, Linghe’s character in another drama actually made me fall in love with this type of fictional character. I think it’s only because Qimin wasn’t the main character that Qianqian never fell for him. If he had been, I’m sure the author would’ve manipulated the situation somehow. But here, the author just decided that Qianqian can’t love Qimin

Still, the only reason I didn’t want them to end up together was because Qianqian didn’t like him and I think a woman should have the authority to choose whoever she wants.

But at least they changed her reaction to his ending compared to the novel. So we can guess she was at least a little moved😭

People will always try to act like moral police but I don’t think anyone who liked this ship actually wanted them together in this life. I just wanted them to get their happily ever after in another life. I wanted an alternate ending for them so badly

I mean, it’s not necessary for them to be friends. Do we end up liking all our colleagues or classmates? No, right? They’re human too, maybe they just never became friends and are only on normal talking terms. Their managers also had issues with each other, so it’s understandable

Umm… I’m not sure. I haven’t read the novel. But the scene was something like she set the bed on fire, then made out to steal the tiger tally. Either they didn’t film it and replaced it with another scene of her stealing it or they cut it. As I said, 40 minutes in the whole drama can’t steal the main leads thunder. Main leads have a lot more scenes and are established actors.

Yes, the main leads might not be together in the novel during her growth arc but since the drama has fewer episodes, they should’ve involved the male lead somehow. I really don’t understand the point of a second male lead for a married main character.

I agree about not making the male lead too nice. He was already a perfect character from the beginning with no growth arc.
The way you explained the female lead sounds better than how she was shown here. The food and supplies part in the drama was so dumb. It would’ve been much better if they had followed the novel

That cp also had many scenes deleted. They probably had only about 40 minutes of screen time together throughout the whole drama.

The main problem is that 40 episodes aren’t enough for the story and they should’ve involved the male lead more during the female lead’s growth.

I mean, overall he gets less screen time in his dramas. Haven’t fans said anything about it? This drama was still okay but in Princess Royal and Our Generation, he was treated worse than a side character. Maybe only The Best Thing gave him his due

A drama can’t run without supporting characters. Younger actors in supporting roles can become leads later. They need a lil push.

Don’t forget ZLH also started as a supporting actor. They need screen time too. I don’t think, at least here, he was sidelined because of any supporting character.
You’re right about the princess royal drama. I had to drop it because I couldn’t stand seeing the other guy take screen time when he wasn’t even interesting.

This drama became very female centric, so his screen time overlapped with the female lead.


It’s insane how this keeps happening with Linghe. Don’t Chinese fans notice it or do they just not bother mentioning it?
