it is being spoiled if others have to do something that you can as well, it doesn't matter why the other does it, just look up the word spoiled what does it mean, when others indulge you and make your life easier, that is what spoiling means.

yes, some these are also found in western cultures, they are called small act of kindness and love. Carrying the bag bewildered me when I was in China, the guys carried everything their own bag and the belongings of their girlfriend for me that was strange. Your grandpa's acts are endearing and full of love, but if you look around there are many cases when women abuse this. I have talked with hundreds of Chinese in the last few years and heard a lot of things about how women are treating men and also the majority of cdramas show the men cooking, cleaning, working, spoiling their wifes/girlfriends and in a lot os cases they have to have house, car, bride money etc. this inequality is what bothers me, of course not the small gestures. In my opinion women and men both alike should input the same amount of love and care into a healthy relationship, but as far as I have seen with my own eyes and heard with my own ears men do more in China in a lot of cases.

I know I come from a different culture and I don't understand a lot, that is why I always want to learn from those who really experience these in real life. yes, I have been also watching cdramas for over 4 years now and have concluded same aspects, a lot of times romance is confused with devotion in Chinese culture and they view romantic a lot things that Europeans would never view as romantic. Most Chinese tropes cannot be found in any western cinematography, they are typical to China and other Asian countries. Thank you for your insights, I really appreciate it.

Maybe then it is just Europe that doesn't have this or just my generation. I have never seen or heard of anyone in my country to do this if they didn't have a good reason. The only cases I have heard were because the women had bags or because they wore a shirt skirt without shorts underneath, otherwise women usually tie their own laces here, but I am always open to learn about the differences from other countries.
