I’m glad they didn’t make her a Mary Sue. She isn’t some genius who happens to be a great fighter. She’s…
I used "dumb" to describe how her character is portrayed sometimes. Sometimes being the operative word. No, I was saying dumb wasn't too harsh to describe her at times b/c it was accurate. Her being an orphaned village girl doesn't mean she has to be "dumb." That's the complaint. Not that she's portrayed as dumb all the time.

Who said I hated her from the start? I never said that.

I disagree a bit. The simple country bumpkin way they occasionally write her is annoying and unnecessary.
I've pointed out multiple times that there is a difference between being naive and uneducated and being a dumb country bumpkin.

It's not so much being dumb as not having enough information to make a better decision. She is in the dark about…
What??? What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

She also asked him if that is who he was/what he did. My point is she knows he's important and (unlike other things) seemed to understand his role in things. At the very least, it is someone who is high up and who she trusts. We'll see out it plays out.

No it's a country bumpkin flaw. Anyone capable of thinking a thought through can see it's a bad idea.

I am. My point is is it's not looking good. I hope I'm wrong. Because I'm gonna be really annoyed if that is how it plays out.

She's not in the dark about who the Strategist is and his role in the war. She's very clear on that.

I've done that multiple times, this isn't my first time bringing this up, so I'm not going to go into all the details. But as I've said in this thread, if the prince food exchange plays out like it seems it would...that's an example of being a dummy. You know the Strategist. You don't think for a second to run it by him before you do anything? You're just a pretty, dumb, brute who can't think things through for a second?

You know the Strategist and instead of asking him what does he think about your bright idea is to trade a PRINCE for food???? C'mon. But that's not the only thing I've said as this isn't my first time bringing this up.

Once again...there's a reason I said "sometimes" - I've said more than once that it is something they lean into at times and I don't understand why b/c it's not necessary and takes away from the character.

Agree on other roles. New Life Begins she's a bit ditzy but not dumb. That's the difference. She was sheltered and unworldly, but never came across as a dummy, tho a bit ditzy...they walked a fine line there but it worked.

No. I love it. Best long drama I've watched in awhile. There is just some things that annoy me. I feel like c-dramas can at times go to extremes with their female characters. And it's like b/c they made her super strong that had to make her a "sweet little dummy" to balance it out. And that's just kinda unnecessary.

Dumb isn't harsh. That's my point. They SOMETIMES make her out to be dumb. That's not the same as uneducated. It's okay that she doesn't know things or understand some words...but the name thing for example...was that even necessary? What's the deal with making her out to be a dummy?

People she literally knows and is friends with the Strategist - if she had ANY idea and wasn't sure about it she could literally go ask him if it's okay and what he thought. IF they have her just unilaterally take a prisoner and trade for supplies - then they are making her into a pretty, dummy who can't think her way out of a paper bag. It's just a strange way to write a character when we are over half way through the series and expecting some level of growth.

But c'mon. Even the lowliest of army soldiers would know not to take a prisoner who is a PRINCE without permission and trade him for FOOD. One second of thought and you might realize how having him helps keep everyone safe OR at least run the idea by someone. You know the STRATEGIST for goodness sake. Like "Hey, I have this idea to get us more supplies" - They play her like a pretty, brute, dummy. Like there's nothing but air between her ears.
