This was supposed to be an easy breezy watch. Pretty people. Pretty fashion. A little intrigue. Simple. Sigh.

8 good episodes.

Up to Episode 8 it was very good.

And then...

Nails are such a weird thing to skimp on.

Not quite Dynamite Kiss bad.

But still bad.

It was a terrible ending. He could have used his time as a monarch to change the Royals can't do business. She could have transferred those skills to being the best Queen ever. This was a bait and switch. It was sold as one thing and became another. SMH.

I'll be honest. I haven't laughed this hard at a K-Drama since My Boyfriend is Cupid.

Like laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes.

I've been burned recently with K-Dramas (Perfect Crown I'm looking at you) - so after episode 4 I'll likely wait 'till it's done to decide if it's worth watching the rest. But so far I am REALLY enjoying it.

Was she a concubine to the King/Emperor or to his brother (saw some clips and was confused 'cause I thought she was talking to the brother and not the King).

Was the "adultery" charge b/c of a relationship with the brother and not the King?emperor?

Disagree. Gu Lian has no redeemable characteristics. She's cartoonishly evil. Ye Xian is not that. He's shown to be a character with depth and intelligence. He's not a simple character and judging him on only the negative misunderstand the charterer completely.

Oh that servant...don't know about that, the mom was also one who said he did it.
