Enjoyed this immensely. I love the fact that Xiao Huaijin is a gentle, calm hero. Sword-wielding armoured female…
And rare for a reason I might add. A wimpy ML is not viewed in an attractive light. He doesn’t have to be a stoic master swordsman but a damsel in distress from the ML is not attractive.

Yea, shout out to FL, she heavy lifted this drama. And the character she was playing is very cool.
The ML was written more as a supporting character so there was no need for him to carry any part of this drama. Did Wang Xingyue know what he was getting himself into before he took this drama? He was a male lead in name only.

damn😳that ending,it makes no sense if there won't be a S2,they should've ended with the last scene
The CP coming in at the end was totally unnecessary. Adding a character at the very end is ridiculous. He added nothing to the plot. In reality you could have had the uncle plot the death of Consort Shu on his own.

Easy watch means you didn’t have to think much about it to follow along. A lot of action movies are popcorn movies that aren’t written the best but are easy to watch because you can turn you brain off. HDY is a popcorn series that’s easy watching. I’d recommend it to people but I’m not going to act like it was a masterpiece. There were plenty of logic gaps and corny dialogue but it’s worth a watch because it was funny and the romance was good.

The mysterious crown Prince I thought was the emperor 15 yrs ago finally appeared ?
I think in the book the CP was the real bad guy. It is so weird to introduce him so late. Unless they are definitely planning a S2 it is odd to bring him in so late. Glad the chancellor got his due though.

Uncle Lou is what Xiao Haujin feared Peiyi would become. He is totally lost in his revenge and without conscious.

Overall I think the cuts to get this show down to 34 episodes hurt the show. You can tell they cut too much out. The crown prince introduction was too late in the story. The end credit scene made it seem like they might have a S2 but do you really feel a threat from him. I can also tell they cut much of the Wuyen/Prosecutor Gu story. I think much of the character development was lost in the cuts. Overall I’ll give this one a 8.0. Not sure if I’m 100% satisfied with the wrap up but if they had a S2 I’d watch it.

I actually thought HDY was poorly written as well. I think the cast saved it and it was overall an easy watch.

Somebody obviously is digging under Consort Shu so that she’d lose favor with the emperor. Pretty elaborate.
The emperor continues to be a dirt bag. Someone died in front of them and he’s basically holding Consirt Shu accountable. “Better not be any more accidents.” He’s so superstitious. It’s his superstition that was exploited to get rid of Peiyi’s family.

she has to be in on it; I feel like they will have another tragedy before it ends.
I’m hoping against this. Peiyi needs someone she can depend on in her life.

I’m surprised we got a new case with only four episodes remaining. Hope they can wrap this up satisfactorily. It’s strange that the case seems to revolve around Consort Shu. Either she’s being targeted or she’s the real villain. The whole deal with the cult surrounding her birth is making me wonder about her. I hope she is good for Peiyi’s sake. It would suck for her to find out, after losing her family, that her adopted mother is bad guy.

And then you'd go down to prison to be executed and your family's honor wouldn't be restored. A waste of life…
I think that has been the theme. Look at goee we quickly the Consort Shu had to jump to her knees in front of the emperor because of his threat. And Peiyi was easily lost her title and job while the chancellor got to keep his. This show has been very consistent about the plight of women from top to bottom during the Tang Dynasty.

With that emperor she would have likely just been exiled and asked to copy an apology 100 times.

The way I was ready for Li Peiyi to smack the ML down and take her revenge, all consequences be damned. But even…
From a legal standpoint, XHJ was correct because they still needed hard evidence and they still need to clear Prince of Duan’s name. But sometimes a girl needs a ride or die. The emperor can’t be trusted to do right. So a little “street” justice was warranted. Sort the rest out later. He could have said, “I got your back, whatever you decide.”

I don’t know if they use stunt doubles but if not, Bai Lu is putting in work. The fight scenes in this series have been amazing.

Peiyi poisoning the whole council was definitely the nuclear option. I doubt anyone will come to any of her future parties. But she probably knew the emperor wouldn’t give her justice.

LoL! For a minute I thought he was poisoned. Then they say he is laying up due to heartbreak. Now Peiyi was really on death’s door because of the poison and here he is laying there like a diva because his feelings are hurt.

He is definitely complicit. It seems like the right chancellor is so powerful that outside of rebelling against the emperor, he’s untouchable.

Exactly. They have basically made the ML into a eunuch. You can say they are reversing the roles but most FLs in dramas aren’t this sheepish. You can be smart and resourceful without being a wimp. They have made the audience question whether XHJ is too much of a wimp to be her husband/lover.

She needed a Ml that would Burn the world for her not this one
I think in this instance they made the ML too weak. You can have a strong FL without needing to nerf the man. Now they have him laid up being absolutely useless to the FL. The man doesn’t have to be a savage but a little backbone from your man is not a bad thing.
