If a look is romance. I don’t want to mislead people. There might be something later but so far after four episodes there is no romance. Better to be honest with people so they can make an informed decision. Glad there are four episodes so people can see if this is their cup of tea.

Tbh, I couldn’t finish Coroner’s Diary. It’s way overrated and the see the same romance tropes that all these other shows use. I did like The Wanted Detective though. It was creepy enough to be interesting. Although you barely got any romance until the last episode.

That was noticeable to me. The FL’s sidekick clearly seems to be dubbed by someone else. Also the young guard’s voice is so deep that it’s distracting.

Ok, I have watched the first four episodes. Great cast. I even recognize the guest characters who pop in and out. I was thinking the story of the dead/missing/runaway princess would go longer but it looks like they will be investigating different cases with the backdrop of FL’s own family’s murder. At least the mysteries are interesting. My biggest complaint is with the dialogue. It has come off a bit clunky imo. The camera movement and editing have been a bit nauseating as well. If there is going to be any romance, I can’t see it so far. That will be a big negative for a lot of people. But so far I’m willing to come back for more.

Yeah but not enough romance usually hurts viewership. Watch people start to complain.

I actually don’t see any bad acting at all in this show. I think the script has holes in it and the editing is choppy at times. I think the leafs are doing well with what they have.

Enjoying this series. One thing that trips me out is his female best friend, Hyein. If you liked him all these years, why didn’t you say something? Were you expecting him to start loving you after another ten years? Being sad and sour after he finds someone is silly. You had plenty of time to express your feelings.

Just finished my second watch. This is definitely a classic. My first time watching, the ending felt bittersweet but now I lean towards the happy side. Definitely not a happy ending but leans happy with promise of a bright future to our protagonist.

I’m actually starting to like this more and more with each episode. I’m not fond of the magic in K and C dramas but now that there is a hint of attraction between the two I’m in.

By the end of episode 2, I was in to it. Ep 1 is definitely slow and I wasn’t sure about it. But the twist at the end with the wish has me intrigued. Why on earth did she do it that way? I get the balance of life but I’m sure there was a better way to fulfill the wish.

Think about the ending. Even if the Duke’s residence was heaven on earth with loving family members, LJL would still have to leave in order to be with RSB. She was willing to compromise on nothing. Her first love was and will always be the tea. She would leave him in a heart beat if it meant losing her tea business.

After a few hours away from the ending, I have to say this story left a bad taste in my mouth. Where is your dignity and self worth sir? The show should be renamed, Lady and the Simp” or “Tea for Cucks.”

Definitely dropped it below 8 for me. It was totally rushed and contrived. They needed more time to develop the Duke plot. They should have used 12 episodes for the Rong plot, 12 for Duke’s household plot and then use final 12 episodes to wrap up loose ends, character arcs and LJL/RSB love story.

Just finished and I have whiplash. The last six episodes was like a whole new show. If they had more episodes or ended the earlier plot sooner then they would have had more time to merge the country and city plots better. But in the end the show felt so disjointed. And don’t get me started on the jade MacGuffin RSB carried around that conveniently embed her with unlimited power. What a ridiculous and unbelievable plot device. The current emperor would not allow someone to have such a power even if it came from the founding emperor. At any rate, it’s a bad plot device because it could have been used to solve all their problems in earlier episodes. So using it in the end felt like an easy button for the writers to wrap up the story faster. RSB became invincible and all knowing by the end of the series. And the ML basically became a sniveling simp without his own agency. Thankfully RSB decided to take that puppy back home with her or he would be miserable. The last few episodes dropped the show below an 8 for me.

Wow. I’m on ep 32 and they have introduced as many new characters in the last three episodes as they did when the show started. Was this show originally set for 42 episodes? 😂

Up to episode 30. Shanbao has basically become Michael Corleone.

To be fair he is playing more of the FL role and she’s playing the ML role that you’re used to seeing in Cdramas. This series is about flipping traditions on its head so it makes sense.

Agree. They need another 12 episodes to deal with the Rong extended family drama in the capital.

He’s an idiot. Why did he give his daughter up to Rong Shanbao in the first place? Then he turns around and kidnaps his daughter and gives her to a stranger. He’s nice but very gullible.
