Wait so you’re telling me this main duo are shown as smart, strategic and astute characters by spotting the cart was heavier than normal so impending battle is coming, or pretending to be prisoners means a free ride and avoiding spies but somehow are not observant enough to spot and question the ridiculously obvious signs the lady was her mother?! 🤣
So far Mr Prime Minister is the only one I cannot fully read what his strategy is. Probably the most cunning and unpredictable unlike the other two where it’s quite clear what they want.
But yeah he is the one to really watch. He gives me chills especially in his delibrate neutrality performance and during that evening chess match during the storm.
I never skip the opening credits. so good. I’m just sort of head bobbing away every time it comes on especially that chorus! Jane Zhang’s voice is always amazing in previous OSTs too.
You are so right though - there is something Evanescene-ish about it.
I’ve actually been thinking that this will be the first drama since VOS that I will be writing a review on.…
Totally agree with you about this being a true blue wuxia, flowing well and unravelling in layers naturally. It’s very exciting and it tests the trio but I know they will absolutely find harmony and unity in the end. They are unique individually but offer different strengths collectively when they work together and there is also the funny banter between them too. It’s just so entertaining and visually beautiful.Ugh SM is awful and there is only one person in the trio who deserves that justice. What a burden to carry in their heart.
This show is giving me everything I want in a wuxia. Swashbuckling, quirky found family friendship seeking justice, challenging morality, fighting proper bad guys, that wind instrument background and title credit OST. Clean, sharp and intentionally focussed marital arts fight scenes. I love every episode and am sad when it’s over. Whatever this show is doing, I want more of it. Ratings are subjective but I’m also sad - this show has real respect for the old Wuxia charm and atmosphere and unravelling storytelling that makes it addictive. I wish it’s loved and shared more cause it’s a pretty solid and refreshing Wuxia show for me.
Ep 12 is fantastic! So much happens from the brother’s murder which made me cry unexpectedly that was so sad. To the arguments and tension in the group of the enormity of the task at hand and morality questions around justice then the epic fight in the rain scene. 10/10.This show is just getting better and better in my opinion.
I hope this drama finally makes good use of how smoldering and attractive Wang Hong Yi is. 🤣 It looks like…
I really want this role to give his piercing stare some justice. Like it seems he can see straight into your soul kinda level intense. The last couple of shows I’ve seen from him don’t do justice to the way he can look at someone.

Gurl - keep an eye on that one!!

I went into this show with low expectations and am pleasantly surprised.
Oh man also any time Zhou Yiran gets to show off his fighting skills I’m super happy ⚔️🩸
I am ready to meet my new favourite general 🥰 🗡️ 🔥

I loved how every mention about him from LL he taps the steward and says get me more of that! Bless his heart.
But he seems like a really useful and smart ally to the crew in the Capital. Seems like they need it 😬

Already the snippets of ITM are promising.
