Saaame!!! While I love my blood-spattered tsundres — especially ones who are fire-wielding vengeful immortal…

how romancing is the romance? I really cant handle any serious drama atm, can someone answer?
The main leads especially are sooo fluffy and sweet! There are darker undertones with the ML’s family and the political turmoil during the time of the drama… but so far the main romance in the drama is bright and cute. The romance is a slow burn (from her, he has been in love with her since the beginning), but I would say that the romance is definitely romancing 😁

Guys this drama is really good! If you are not watching this you seriously should . We honestly don't get dramas…
Saaame!!! While I love my blood-spattered tsundres — especially ones who are fire-wielding vengeful immortal overlords 😉 — I am really enjoying watching AC in a different, brighter role!

I guarantee that 90% of the people who rated it down didn’t watch a single episode.
🙄Mmmk whatever. I don’t need to argue with you. I immediately block the trolls in the comments, so I don’t even see half of them anymore and they wouldnt see mine either. So your finger-pointing at my reactions egging them on is utter nonsense.

It’s not. Others on this site I’m sure will back me up. Trolls are a thing on here. They do it for various reasons:
1) To discourage people from watching a drama that’s competing with an airing drama the trolls prefer.
2) To negatively target a specific actor / actress they don’t like. Esther Yu gets this a lot. Actually, most of the well-known actors / actresses have their group of haters who just downrate the dramas they star in.
3) To discourage viewership of shows on a specific streaming platform

I promise you that this is an actual thing. A lot of us have seen it happen many times with other shows that have aired in the last six months or more. Fated Hearts is a drama that this happened with. After the show ends, typically the ratings climb back up a bit. It’s not paranoia, but if you don’t buy it then not my problem 🤷🏼‍♀️

Because there are literally people on here who are trolls and spend their time down voting dramas for various reasons. It’s an actual thing on here. Some of them even write one-star reviews when only the first episode or two were released. You’ll see it a lot on here if you socialize on MDL when dramas are airing.

They also did it with Fated Hearts. :/

No kidding. I wish that MDL would figure out something to solve this problem and weed out the pathetic trolls.

What's with the rating?? why did it drop from 8.2 to 7.9 in just few hours?? Some people just can't appreciate…

wait, drama is going solid to me, why the sudden rating drop?
Trolls who have nothing better to do with their lives than downrate dramas for stupid reasons such as to deter people from watching it, harm the publicity of actors they don’t like, or to boost the viewership / ratings of their preferred shows by rating down competing shows. MDL is nutorious for them. Don’t pay much attention to the ratings here.

Why don’t you try it and see for yourself if you like it? 🤷🏼‍♀️
Huh? I didn’t have a problem with it. I just think that the question is very subjective to the viewer. If you scroll you’d see a LOT of people who love the drama and comment on the chemistry, which I think is amazing with the leads. But there are probably people who didn’t like the drama. It’s all subjective - that’s all I meant.

Is the story very romantic? Is there chemistry between FL and ML?

Title Love Story in the 1970s Spoiler
So was the ML’s sister so selfish? Just to go to the university she betrayed her family and had her parents…
No, her parents were already arrested and sent to re-education for not aligning with the political party. She had to denounce them later on in order to get into university. The story takes place during a lot of political unrest in China.

Feng Lin might be a hater, but at least she's consistent. I don't understand Ms. Xu at all. She said if her son…
Yes exactly. We get very brief glimpses into what happened with Muyang’s family, especially from his sister, who had to denounce her entire family in order to get into college. They also shared through a flashback that Muyang’s house was raided and his parents were sent to re-education.

There was also that scene when Muyang was still in a coma when Ni closed the window / blinds and locked the room door before secretly reading a book to Muyang. So clearly the book she had in her bag was not one that was approved by the political party, and she could have gotten in trouble for owning it. From what we know of her parents, they were also likely free thinkers as well. I dunno if you watched episode 8, but Ni’s dad wants Ni to marry someone who will support her going to college. He was also listening to a radio during one scene in a recent episode, and I wondered if that would have been frowned upon. OH - and there’s also the stuff with her brother… apparently people could be sent to labor camps if their ideologies didn’t align with the political party in power and I *think* that’s what happened to her brother. He was sent away under the guise of “a great opportunity for work”. I think I vaguely remember a scene early on of them in a farming field with a huuuuuuge red political banner hanging up in the background. Anyway… I think politics is the main reason why Ni hasn’t been admitted to college 😞Everything else was just an excuse. Her being caught lying didn’t help her cause, sadly.

So I dunno if it helps, but on a different site someone who has lived childhood expriences in China during this time talked about how people were barred from attending university if it was suspected that their political ideology didn’t completely align with the communist party at the time. Apparently, Ni has been repeatedly passed over getting into university in favor of less intelligent people who have aligned with the political party. So, the larger context in all of this is the political turmoil and the cultural revolution. Intelligent, free thinkers were seen as a threat to the political movement. Apparently not a single person was admitted to university (not one) from 1966 - 1969, as it’s been said a person from a different website. And I am not claiming to be an expert, but this person’s thoughts have added a lot of perspective to the drama for me.

She’s being petty because Ni lied to her about Muyang’s memory coming back in order to get into the university 🙄

Haters are attacking it by downvoting as always happens on this site. Don’t pay attention to the ratings here.
Yeah. If it keeps being this good, eventually the haters would have done their damage and the ratings should become a better reflection of the honest viewers.
