You could check out Journey to Love (probably the closest comparison - assassin FL and warrior ML), The Prisoner of Beauty (Military ML and smart and intelligent FL - my favorite Asian show), Legend of the Female General (General ML and FL), or Legend of Shen Li (fantasy genre with a warrior FL and a lonely god who just wants to cook and be a house husband lol). Moonlight Mystique (also fantasy genre, badass demon ML and an independent FL who grows into her powers) 😊I also just started watching a new show that is currently airing - Fight for Love (Military ML and fighter FL, lots of tragedy in the beginning). It’s pretty good so far.

I kinda find it humorous that we had Yun go through days of torture and imprisonment and he’s back at home getting his wounds painfully tended to while keeping it together…. meanwhile Chusheng got burned by hot tea water and looks like he’s about to pass out 🤣

Are you sure it’s not an acceptable relationship? The brother and the FL weren’t in love and didn’t really know each other when he died. There wasn’t a ceremony and obviously no consummation. In other cultures it’s very acceptable to for a brother to marry his brother’s widow. Personally I don’t have a problem at all with the ML and FL falling in love.

I hope that episode 6, when the FL was talking to the emperor, wasn’t foreshadowing that our ML is going to die on the battlefield in the end 😳

“Chemistry” is soooo subjective to the viewer though? You could always watch a couple of episodes and decide for yourself if you like it or not 🤷🏼‍♀️ In every show that I’ve watched and LOVED, there have always been people that complained about the “lack of chemistry” between the leads. And vice versa, I’ve watched shows that other people raaaaaaave about the chemistry whereas I just don’t see it. Just give it a try and if you don’t like it then don’t waste anymore of your time? 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is great when it’s done right - such as if both characters communicate their different perspectives, argue their different opinions, talk through it and try to find ways to meet each other in the middle. I LOVE internal conflict with couples when it’s done right. When it’s conflict centered around not communicating, keeping secrets or lying… that’s when it’s good for treating low blood pressure 😂

Oh wow I appreciate this tip! I have been sooo intrigued by this show and LOVE the leads. However I don’t do sad endings. Knowing there’s a safe place to drop it before things get sad is good to know!

Well said. I always thought the “heat index” system is interesting. I searched some of the shows that had the highest heat index, and a LOT of them had pretty bad ratings on MDL which I found interesting. Some of the shows I saw with a high heat index I didn’t care much for myself. It’s just an interesting system, and as you said, complicated.
