just curious, is there any subplot romance in this ?
By the epilogue in Ep 7, there is special personal relationship development between the 2 leads. So all depending on what is the definition of romance to you.

They have no romantic chemistry whatsoever. I really hope they don't pair up at the end. The cases themselves…
No need, we might still be surprised as long as limiting your expectation. They do look good together.

In the relationship chart, if there is no line between the characters, usually it means there is no special connection/relationship between the 2.

It would be largely unsustainable. Running a firm costs money and their clients don’t pay
Large law firms have their lawyers takiing turns to do pro bono works, to neutralise their money making image. It is served as advertisements in a way.

why don't kang and team just leave the company and set up own practice?
Pro Bono lawyers provide free legal aids, no operation income. They are employed and paid by large law firms.

Definitely all the legal cases so far are outstanding, Most viewers would agree. But seems most have forgotten how this drama began, the bribery video. The relationship between the 2 leads already started , and will likeky keep playing a key role in helping Da Wit restoring his career at the end of the drama. Chemistry obviously different for different viewers and anyone can just ignore the part not like. Note next case in episode 9 is going to be very personal.

The 1st 10 minutes of episode 7, in continuation of the ending in last episode, did deliver as expected, a mini climax on the relationship of this funny couple leads, before the serious part of the episode began. Their close and recently distanced relationship even highlighted by the smart girl Yoo Nan Hui.
The PD writer never failed to deliver some sweetener moments in each episode in a natural, never overdone manner, making the drama more than one dimension and very enjoyable. And the epilogue!!!

Is there any romance/chemistry in this show?
Other than legal cases each normally lasted for an episode or 2, there are lots of personal interaction between the 2 leads. If one pays attention everything they said to each other is being followed through so far. And she likely will play a key role in saving the future career of the ml. So their relationship will be subjected to viewer's interpretation.

Title Pro Bono Spoiler
Gippeum and others in the pro bono team is so out of touch with reality. They think the world is all sunshine…
How can Da Wit be trustworthy with that bribery video that he could never explain and very obvious because of that he was forced to resign as a judge to join the lowly pro bono team? Actually why he expected Gi Ppeum to trust him unconditionally during their lunch, kind of they already had a deep connection? But did you miss the hand sign conversation between Gi Ppeum and her dad, that she still wanted to trust and trusted an untrustworthy person (Da Wit)? And she has been so worry about the rest of the team seen the bribery video as she told Da Wit.
Also before the last legal case was finally over outside court Da Wit asked Gi Ppeum about her strange attitude towards him and she replied lets talk about it later. And after the case was finally won she did focuss on the mystery of the bribery video and came up with an answer. Meaning she again fulfilled her conversation to him. Can you imagine how Da Wit would feel towards someone who actually gave him back his career future? And seems in preview he also clarified to the team about the video to erase Gi Ppeum's worry. Again fulfilling the conversations between the 2. And how much Gi Ppeum cared about Da Wit to be the only one stayed with him during the medical check up to allow the discovery of the critical information?

Ep 5 and 6 indeed getting better and better. The legal case keeps on providing provocative, highly emotional topics.
The 2 leads are perfectly matched and provided balance with their difference in objectives of the pro bono team. Gippeum's firm idea of the purpose of the team is to provide legal aids to those can't afford it (one dollar lawyer), to counter the money first reputation of the large law firm, with winning just a bonus. And Da Wit cares and remembered every word she is saying and delivered it in a way. The acting of So JY also able to matched that of the much experienced Jung KH. Both expressed well with their eyes, showing very difference in emotions without overacting. Their strong chemistry is undeniable.

This is a drama, written to produce entertainment. With so many legal dramas already produced in the past (eg Beyond the Bar in Netflix this year), it is unavoidable that something controversial would be required to attract interests from viewers or risks repeating old shows.
Spoilers below
Unless one turning a blind eye, the personal glances between the 2 leads in the car, to and back from the village in ep 5, (obviously purposely given by the director), are very hard to miss. Even with the suspicious bribery video is still hard in the mind of Gi Ppeum, once D Wit touched on his personal history she simply can't stop looking at him with so much warmth. Adding her conversation with her father later she is either having hero worship or personal feeling on D Wit.
It only took half an episode D Wit already understood from Ms Oh the reason Gi Ppeum giving him cold shoulder. There are multiple ways of resolving the understanding of the bribery video, which could be significant to the future relationship/understanding between the two, and future of the whole team.

no romance but maybe slight romance or just mentor mentee relationship.
Early in the piece to tell if any romance or not. But unlike Beyond the Bar, the fl is already a high calibre lawyer and ml just the leader of the team. So far in court cases the ml us the barrister with fl the solicitor, so a ream relationship.

nooooo romance just ruins a drama ,let it be purely legal please .
Fully agreed. Legal cases in legal dramas always last for an episode or so. And no guarantee every case would be interesting. A drama needs a backbone story lasted the whole drama, so relationship developments between leads normally a convenient tool. Same apply for medical dramas, Hospital Playlist the best example. If not interested in romance viewers can just skip any interaction between the leads. But it is important to understand what the PDwriter trying to tell us.
