I think drama makes this situation clear but viewers have to listen to narrator and read between the lines carefully.

This is an old trope in BLs too. I remember watching BLs like this in 2015. That nostalgia is the reason I'm watching this show 😅

I haven't finished any drama after watching SCD. I'm reading Danmei to scratch the BL itch but can't get into dramas for now.

If you read the novel first, drama would fell short for you because novel has so much more action and details but if you can manage your expectations then drama will make you love the novel even more. If you watch drama first then it gives you faces for the characters so you end up enjoying novel a lot.

I don't wanna be negative about other dramas but how come so many dramas with no real substance are getting popular while SCD remains cherished only among fans who caught it while it was airing. Even getting new edits of the show on ig is hard if you aren't following pages dedicated for them. It's sad and effects the possibility of season 2 🙂

That's the thing. We can't take anything as a hint for season 2 unless there is an official confirmation.

I'd say that case file compendium is ok. It's not bad but it's not making me go crazy either. It has mistery in it. The relationship between leads is as problematic as it gets. Sometimes it feels like it's trying too hard to be edgy so there's that but I'm on vol 5 and I don't regret reading it.

OMG Addicted novels are my favourite too. Addicted series (the unfinished one) was my first Chinese BL and the books were first danmei novels I have ever read. You're right. It's everyone's favourite because it's so good🤌. It has my favourite problematic "top"🤣. I have read 4-5 chapters of silent reading few days ago but then I discovered case file compendium so I'm currently reading that. I'd pick silent reading back after finishing that.

What you said about being Chu San biased is so true for me too. I was team Chu San from the beginning to the end in the novel and now I love Chusan's actor xixi so I'm double biased now.

He doesn't want revenge from Jiahua or Liu Yi specifically. He's using Jiahua to get to the person who's the main culprit. Liu Yi is just collateral like anyone from underworld. Also it hasn't been stabilized in drama but according to the novel, the main culprit has something to do with both Jiahua and Liu Yi but in very different ways.

If they keep up with Liu Yi feelings for QL being platonic story line, may be they can show Chu San's jealousy simply over the fact that he's trusting and spending time with a good looking guy he has just met and choosing him for important gang related jobs over his older gang members.

But if we go with drama explanation of liu yi's feelings towards QL being platonic, that plot line about QL look alike undercover cop won't be as interesting as it is in novel. Like in novel when he enters, as readers we are worried about Liu Yi being conflicted between him and Chu San. Also Chu San's jealousy won't make much sense either.

I think Liu yi knew that the fiancee was fake but he couldn't even bear the thought of it so he decided to meet Chu San. And the thing you said about age, that's so true. Most people in BL fandoms are teenagers that's why whenever a story has time gap, it feels huge to them.

Yes. Bigg boss saved him on June 1st and that was the first time he ate a cake. They celebrate his birthday on that day. Also Liu Yi used to have another name before but he changed it to Liu Yi because it's pronounciation sounds like June 1st.

It's funny how so many Chinese BLs that are about business world have toxic relationships and problematic "love" scenes while the story about unruly underworld characters has the better relationship and no dub-con scenes. Even in novel, Liu yi is violent towards Chu San in beginning when they just meet, he never show those tendencies towards him once they are in a relationship and when they lie to each other or go against each other, it's because they want other to be safe.

I asked the same question before and got no answers. It's popular enough to have fanfics but I can't find any.
