No hate to the edit, but I genuinely think some people need to separate fiction from reality. Just because you’re still attached to Sang Yan doesn’t mean every male character has to be like him. In reality, someone like him is rare, and every character is written differently for a reason. If you haven’t been able to move on from TFF, that’s completely fine keep Sang Yan in your heart, but please don’t force every other character to live up to him. As viewers, we should try to understand each character on their own instead of constantly comparing them to another character.And one more thing: Bai Jingting and Jing Boran are best friends in real life, so please don’t turn their characters into a competition or compare them either. You can love both characters without putting one against the other. 🤍

I’ve read the novel, and honestly, I really enjoyed Luan Nian as a character. 😭 He is definitely flawed and can be a red flag at times, but I think that’s what makes his character development so interesting. I really liked seeing how his character changes throughout the story. I’m curious to see how the drama handles his character and whether they keep that same complexity

I’ve read this novel up to Chapter 60, and I’m stopping here for now because, as a novel reader, I’ve realized that whenever a movie, drama, or series is adapted from a novel I’ve already read, I end up getting disappointed while watching it.
For example, with TFF, when I found out that the drama was going to be adapted, I read the novel first. But after the drama came out, especially because of the changes they made in the second half, I really didn’t like it as a novel reader. 😭
So this time, I don’t want to disappoint myself again. I’ll finish the drama first when it comes out, and then I’ll continue reading the novel afterward. What I’m trying to say is that, as a novel reader, I develop a certain feeling and attachment toward a character while reading. And if I don’t feel that same character or emotion when I watch the drama, it honestly hurts so much. 😭

Bro I really feel bad for Bai Lu and Dilraba Dilmurat. ZLH’s toxic fans have given them so much hate. According to them, both of them look older than ZLH, and even when rumors first started about Dilraba being his co star for this drama, some toxic fans said such horrible things about her. The same thing happened with Bai Lu during SOKP. Even when their relationship wasn’t confirmed, she still received so much hate from his fans. As a Zhang Linghe fan, it honestly makes me feel terrible to be part of a fandom with people like this.

don’t compare this drama to Blossom 😭 Blossom had such an interesting and well developed storyline. And as for the chemistry, I actually agree the chemistry between Meng Ziyi and He Yu didn’t feel quite the same to me. Their pairing just didn’t feel as natural to me personally. Please don’t hate me 😭 I’m actually a Meng Ziyi fan, but I’m just being honest about how I felt watching the drama. ❤️

Finally, I finished this drama! 😭 He Yu, excuse me? His face card OMG. He was so charming and lovable as Xiao Huayong, and the FL was strong, smart and carried her character really well. Both leads were definitely the highlight for me. ❤️ The weak parts were the rushed ending, some unnecessary storylines, and the pacing slowing down in places. 8.5/10 ⭐But Meng Ziyi as Dou Zhao is always my most favourite character she has played. 🥹❤️

Before filming starts, I really hope ZLH gets to take the whole month off and properly rest. Dude, his schedule has been insanely busy this year. Before he’s an actor, he’s a human being, and nothing is more important than his health. 😭

Exactly! I don't think POJ's popularity can simply be explained by Zhang Linghe's visuals or Netflix. A big platform and popular actor can attract viewers, but good direction, storytelling, acting, chemistry, cinematography, and the supporting cast are what keep people invested. I've been watching C-dramas for 3 years. My first historical C-drama was Story of Kunning Palace, which is still a 10/10 for me. I'm not comparing it with POJ, but POJ is a 9.5/10 for me. My only criticism is that I wish the drama had explained what happened 17 years ago more clearly the novel handled that part better. Since I read the novel first, I probably noticed it more. And honestly, the more popular a drama becomes, the more haters and toxic fans it will attract. That doesn't make the drama overrated.

But I want to talk about 'TFF' I read the novel before watching 'The First Frost*' and I'm sorry, but that was my biggest mistake. 😭 Wen Yifan isn't nearly as weak or helpless in the novel as she was portrayed in the drama. I just couldn't stop comparing the adaptation to the original while watching.

From what I understood, Yun Li and Fu Shize were just shopping for their camping trip. Yun Li got embarrassed after realizing they'd be sharing a tent, then misunderstood Fu Shize's joke about sleeping with "nothing" on. He immediately clarified that they'd be using two separate sleeping bags, but kept teasing her, kissed the corner of her lips, and then Fu Zhengchu walked in and interrupted them. I've seen some readers call this scene problematic, but I honestly don't understand why. To me, it just came across as playful teasing between two people already in a relationship. Can someone explain what exactly they're referring to?

I don't understand why so many people prefer stories with weak female leads. Instead of looking at the overall story, direction, and writing, it sometimes feels like all they care about is having a weak female lead and a green-flag male lead. For me, First Frost has great storytelling, presentation, direction, and chemistry, so I'd rate it 8/10. But this drama is honestly starting to bore me. I'm on episode 15, and it's becoming really hard for me to keep watching.

I'm agree with you but Bro, don't compare any high school romantic drama with First Frost. Trust me, its toxic fans will come for you. 😭💅🏻
