Mysterious lotus casebook almost matches all your points except that it doesnt have romance, But it's a very very good drama and somewhat similar to TBOY.

It's an open ending, You need to decide for yourself but for me, it was a happy ending. They dont show him dying.

He already has 10% of his powers, he just cant use it because whenever he does, he comes close to dying. Unfortunately he never gets back his full powers but dont worry, he's gonna do a lot of fight scenes in the future episodes😁

I wanted to watch Ultimate Note but I was so confused by the story because I havent watched any other drama in the series and I didnt even know where to start and I saw that every version has different cast so eventually I dropped it🥲

Usually the dramas with traffic actors get a lot of hate and one star rating in the first few days of airing then it goes to normal when the haters find something else yo hate on😅

My mom doesnt watch Cdramas in general, I've been trying to get her to watch some for years but havent succeeded yet😂

My problem was with the spies, They're supposed to be from a formidable organizision but they're weak as noodles and not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, like when they were captured in the second episode I expected them to think of something to slove the problem at hand and I didnt like that they became damsels in distress waiting for the ML to save them. I dont know why but I expected them to be more like black widow😅 But it'a still way too soon to judge.

To be honest I really like the fact that Cdramas nowadays are having less episodes compared to 2-3 years ago, The 60 episodes long dramas usually had so many boring side characters and side stories that they would get tedious to watch at points but we dont see this problem that much nowadays with the reduced number of the episodes, they're focusing more on the general plot and the leads as they should.
