I think people are used to and love the idea of OTP. In a way I can understand why because it's fair.
If the ML is OTP with the FL, it's only fair that he is her OTP as well. Otherwise, it is hypocritical to have FL love multiple men just because she's the FL. I understand why some people are uncomfortable with that.
But life is often more complicated than that, and this story did not intend to make it easy for us when it come to OTP.

Yes in the book CX has other legitimate reasons as well.
The thing is all the Kings know this day will come.

Simple answer is they want different things.
XY want someone to spend the rest of her life with. XL know he will die or choose to die with the army and cannot give her what she truly wants. So he's trying his best to spare her heartache, by NOT making her fall for him and then leave.

but she want LOVE as well, after what she pulled. Even CX was gobsmacked with her delusions

You know it's funny, but it's also a repeat of what XY said about him before. She asked if his head fight with each other, and if it eat each other if he's desperate enough. So he's throwing it back at her.

Her dad was categorized as a demon, same as XL. However he is very loyal to the Chenrong god's clan.

But if you think about it, this series is already 60ep which is quite long and require a lot of budget. It was never meant to be 2 seasons. So it make sense they rush this part because it's not worth dragging. Still it is a huge deviation from what we used to in the first part

I'm a XY-Jing shipper but I have no problem acknowledging XY love XL too.
How can she not?
It's not that hard to see why.
Given what XY went through, she deserve to love 2 men for goddess's sake.

This drama is actually a HE one, the pre-quel is 10x tragic so the writer wrote this story to remedy the pain from the previous book. And THIS is what she came up with.

Everyone have their name change in the drama, except Tushan Jing and Xiang Liu because they're mythical beings.

But they acting like other characters AREN'T mythical beings too because they are. It's a funny irony to me NGL

I mean, it's not hard to understand XY, her position is tempting. Think about it.

CX - powerful and doting brother
TSJ - husband
XL - boyfriend.

All three do whatever she wants, give her whatever she wants. Tell me if you're a girl, that isn't a good setup. Heck - I would want that to go on forever.

Agree - XY had some thoughts that I fully agreed with. FFYY got the worst treatment while Hou got off easy. He got banished but still can fully enjoy the perks of being a Tushan descendent.

Let me play devils' advocate.
Eventually, XY have to fully dependent on CX if she doesn't get marry.
Because once Haoling King die, and someone else come into the throne, that person can be a threat for XY because Chichen is not liked anywhere.

He want to unite the land. It's politics.
It's something implicitly understood since the previous book. Even Haoling King know.
Hard to explain the logic, but from Haoling perspective, that country is a ticking timebomb.
First - the Haoling King came into power with A LOT of controversies. (spoiler: He killed his dad and all his brothers to claim the throne). There were a lot of bloodshed. He's ruling it with an iron fist to suppress the noble clans that are against him. He has no son, and neither of his daughters are interested in running the country. Once he's gone, the country will fall into chaos as the clans will revolt. Xiyan King had always wanted to unite the land. They are only in temporary truce because Haoling King is in power and they had some implicit understanding from their collaboration in the previous book. So this is the best time for CX to unite the land before it fall into chaos once Haoling King is gone. It's the way with the least bloodshed.

Secondly - CX is doing this to XY to cut off her connection with Haoling. If she is the Princess of Haoling, she will be seen as traitor once he launched an attack against Haoling. She supported CX to power - who now attack her own father. This is a serious claim against her in Confucianism. Even after he win, she cannot legitimately live in Haoling or Xiyan. CX cannot use the excuse he did here - that she's family and the General Princess' daughter, because she "betrayed" her father, aka Haoling Emperor. It is worst because China follow paternal lineage. Her alliance with her father is put before her maternal lineage. Neither CX or the Yellow Emperor has ground to argue against that. They may even be questioned with ethical dilemma for "encouraging" her to betray her own father. Being Emperor is one, but even Emperor is required to at least follow the Confucian ethics or their position will be question. Unfortunately between two evils, her being Chichen's daughter is better than he being known to betray her own father.

Agreed.. Used to love going here where people discuss the episode, character motivations or what going to happen next. Now it's just filled with name calling.

Secondly - apparently if ML said he love FL, she need to reciprocate ASAP. C-drama is 40 episodes, people need to chill.
