My guilty pleasure of 2020

OMG I loved and hated this drama so much!

The story is pretty great, and shows how simple actions have big impacts on life.

This drama is about family. The dynamics, the relationships between parents and children, brother and sisters, and even in-laws.

It was a crazy ride, and the FL is such a strong woman, so compassionate and forgiving (a bit too much forgiving, if I may say ... I got really angry about how mistreated she was by her family).

The main couple was super cute and mature. After they fell in love, there was no going back, no stupid break up, just a pure and strong bond. So cool and refreshing to watch!

There are a lot of other side stories that are really good too, and they are responsible for the different perspectivesyou get in the drama. There is always a story that makes you sympathize with a character. They are about redemption, about being too proud, and even blind to the reality. All characters have such a nice growth throughout the drama, it's really nice and it did not get boring. The plot doesn't drag at all.

I definitely recommend it! (I don't remember commenting so much on the comment sections... hahahahah)

An extremely satisfying watch

This one was pure cuteness with a dash sexiness.
The main couple was on fire, so there are lots of PDA, kisses and love quotes.

The dialogs were super funny and the story doesn't go on the angst route, so the obstacles the couple go through are no the typical ones like miscommunication os a crazy ex.

I really liked the FL, she was super down to earth and a totally go-getter, which is cool to watch. She is no damsel in distress, but the ML still is a knight in shining armor, so it's interesting to see them finding a balance in their relationship.

You kind of get the mature side of a couple, so it's a bit different from the "after they get together it's boring " kinda of drama. You stay because the script is nice and their acting is great.

I enjoyed it very much and it's definitely a fluffy romantic watch!

Definitely sweet

So there is nothing new to this story, it's childhood friends turns to lovers kinda thing. Yes, full of misunderstandings, cheeky handsome male lead and charming hardworking female lead.

Well than you might ask me: "why so highly rated then?"
- Because Leo Luo and Bai Lu deliver the best couple of Chinese drama of the year (Oh the romance is heavenly, and they did not spare on the kiss scenes or PDA).

OMG the chemistry was FIRE!! And while the plot is, in deed, a bit cliché they keep you interested in the drama.

There isn't too much angst, and the problems/misunderstandings are all resolved pretty quickly, so you don't get bored and you also don't get the feeling that the drama is dragging.
This is a lighthearted drama, that wraps all lose endings, that you should not miss.

Even the secondary couple is cute (Jun's best friend, Xu Li, is so nice and their friendships is really great and relatable), so you get your time worth even when the leads are not on the screen.

Yes there are bad parts (but honestly, all dramas have them) but they are not bad enough to put you off watching the drama, and they probably help the drama to get momentum and move the plot forward.

It was definitely worth my time and there are scenes I'll definitely comeback to watch again.

So freaking worth the hype!

OMG I just finished this drama and I'm so in love. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a love story.

It's quite rare to find so many good things in a drama, but this one is truly a gem. They did a great job not only turnig a "complicate/confusing" plot into an interesting one, but also wrapping all the loose ends with a pretty cute bow.

The main leads have OUT OF THIS WORLD chemistry, I mean, the PDA was heavy and they were on FIRE. It was honestly one of the most risqué scenes I've seen in a asian dramas. It also had a great amount of skinship to satisfy your romantic naughty heart (it does feel like you are reading those books with "weirdly" enticing covers of half naked man).

So we have an amazing cast and I was not disappointed by them, either the main or the secondary leads.
Vivian Sung did a great job with the Female Lead. She was independent, so funny and had an awesome guilty pleasure (I mean, who has never fantasized about a domineering, handsome CEO? ;) ) and her friendship with her BFF was so relatable that I missed hanging out with mine in this quarantine. I have not seen any other work from her, but now I sure will.

I'm overly suspicious to talk about Marcus Chang (I'm a fan, the man can act, sing, dance...), but he was so good doing both characters!! He was a classic domineering sexy beast of a CEO, with a soft heart and in dire need of the right one (oh be still my heart).

Well nothing is perfect, so the drama did have some flaws. We do get annoying characters, I mean He Tianxing had the worst family in "real" life, and he doesn't have a normal reaction to them (I mean they treat him horribly and he kind of let it all go, and I'm like: - Dude, get a spine and kick the toxic people out of your life!"). And the "real life" part of the drama was the boring part, BUT I promise you, all the other parts are so worthy!

All in all it was a beautiful romance and definitely a great watch (specially now that you don't have to wait a whole week for the next episode).

One of the worst dramas of 2021

Stay away from this one guys, it's horrible. Really, I can't find one single reason to watch this. I finished it with the strength of hate and lots os fast-fowarding.

There is nothing redeeming about this drama. The script is bad, the scenarios are boring, the characters are dumb, even the plot twists are awful.

It was supposed to be all fluffy, and teen, but iended up being 24 episodes of nothing. Really, they start with a plot, but they don't finish it. Then start another one, and guess what? They don't properly give it closure. I have the feeling that they got a drama that had 50 episodes, badly chopped it and then stitched it all in one that has 24 episodes of bad editing. There're so many loose ends that it almost makes no sense a lot of times.

Just save your time and put this one aside.

Enjoyed it way more than I should

So there is nothing new in this drama... same tropes and troubles.
BUT I really liked it!

The ML is really cold to everyone but the FL, which is actually really nice, because he just shutdowns the competition like a pro!

The FL is so good! She has this fussy bossy vibe, but she stands her ground, doesn't let people walk all over, but at the same time she is a really nice person.

The secondary couple was bad, I mean the girl has just so much baggage and inferiority complex that you just end up disliking her. The SLM could do so much better, but its a drama right?!

I absolutely, freaking LOVED the OST!! It was really nice, and the instrumental versions were also good! (The songs she plays on the piano are also nice).

It was a worth watch (but right now the subtitles are machine done, so expect frustration while reading them...)

Toxic relationships

I really don't like the male lead.
Honestly I think their relationship is abusive and toxic. He says mean things to her, treats her like trash, and then he regrets it and is sweet to her for a couple episodes... than he is back again being abusive. It's the classical abusive relationship.

I hope girls (and guys) who watch dramas like this do not think that this kind of relationship is ok, because it's not. Also the bullying is bad. The friendships depicted in this drama are completely mercenary, people will only like or do things based on what they will be able to gain from the female lead.

This whole drama was wrong for me. I like the actors, Kris Fan is one of my favorites ("where the Lost Ones Go" is one of my favorite dramas) however the characters on this drama are terrible people and bad example for youngsters. Don't treat your friendships frivolously, be kind, don't be a bully, love your significant other, respect people around you... it's not that hard.

I was honestly hoping for a light hearted drama, but I got one full of angst, chauvinistic behavior and victim blaming.

What a ride!

OMG this drama is a Rollercoaster of emotions. There are so many ups and downs that you'll get whiplash.
It starts really bubbly and tame, typical youth drama. Lots of cliches situations and dumb plots to get the romance going (don't get me wrong, thats what I signed up for) but, unexpectedly, we have a very AMAZING female leader. Dude, the girl is super cool, she is not your dumb, good as a saint, clumsy with a bad hair type of girl. She is the campus beauty, she knows she is a catch and is unapologetically cool, and that changes the game.
She doesn't react like you would expect and gives back better than what she gets. A breath of fresh air.
The villain in this drama deserves an award, really. Her plots aren't good, but she's such a good actress that you can't help hating her. Kudos to the actress.
So we kind of get mislead when we are told about the male leader in the sinopses. It's a love triangle between two brothers (who are the new meaning of brotherhood in my book) who are very charming (so you can get second male leader syndrome, I mean, I did...).
So things are going great and bla bla bla, and BAAAM, you get proof of cheating, baaam brain cancer, baaam suicide slash murder, baaam self sacrifice death, baaam attempt murder, and that is all in like, the last four episodes or so. It was so unusual that I got confused about the "youth romance" tag. It was super cool and out of the box.
It was a bit messy, and could definitely be longer so that the story could cleanup the ends better, but it was a cool crazy nonetheless.
All actors were great, specially because they are young, and as above-mentioned, we have a crazy range of emotions. Definitely recommend this drama, I watched it all in one sitting.

I wanted to like this so bad

I'm currently watching this drama, but dude it got so boring.

I had high expectations from this one, but seriously it's like a teen drama with labs, and science.

The plot is kind of interesting but after 25 episodes nothing much has changed. There are some really annoying characters that get too much screen time.

Honestly I have not dropped this drama (yet) because I like de lead actors and still have hope for a more exciting second half, but seriously, right now, the fast-foward button is my BFF.

Just finished and I regret so much that I have spent even one minute watching this. Seriously, the plot has more holes than a sieve.

For, supposedly, smart leads they are SO DUMB and clueless!!

The best "romance" scene with a Lead Actor isn't even between them, it's between the ML and an ex-girlfriend, so even if you are in for the chemistry (no pun intended) you'll get close to zero.
Don't waste your time, this drama is bad.

Freaking masterpiece!

Guys this is a hidden gem! OMG!!!
I marathoned this one, (yep 40 episodes and I didn't even see where my weekend went...) and it was SO WORTH IT!

Ok, just let me say that the actors were great, be it the main or the rest of the cast. They portrayed all the emotions so well. All characters have motives, backgrounds and feelings (you can even the sympathize with villains) they are very well written.

This is a story with many shades of gray, no one is perfect, and that kind of makes it better, because you can find traces on them that are similar to ours.

Of course nothing is perfect, there are WAY too many twists and at some point you kinda just want for things to run smoothly (for once), but at the same time, you also get excited over the new discoveries and clues you get, so the more twists the more immersed in the plot you get.

I'm not much into crime/mystery dramas but this one is legit awesome. Seriously, I don't remember watching something from this genre and enjoying it so much (well with the exception of "When a Snail Falls in Love" but they are not similar in the romance category).

*(If you hate spoilers, or like to find things for yourself, avoid the comment sections like the plague!!)*

I'm definitely gonna check out some more dramas with this cast, it was splendid, from beginning to ending.

This one is definitely a must watch.

Hate the characters, like the actors

I can honestly say I did not like the plot. The majority of problems the main leads face, are caused/worsened by themselves.

There are too many plots holes designed to keep the plot going, and I hate the feeling of:
"- Wow, if they just told all this to the emperor in the beginning..." or "- they could have said no and explained it..." or "- they should not forget/forgive the people who do them dirty..." - it makes me feel like all the problems are just excuses.

The story moves on because of many misunderstandings and miscommunication, you can't even say the bad guys are smart, they are just luck the main leads are dumb/don't know how to communicate.

I did not feel the chemistry between the leads, and they are very childish... their relationship would suit better if they were the secondary couple or the other person on the love triangle.

This drama frustrated me to no ending and I did not like the characters at all.
Especially the male lead, he is so unlikable (I like the actor, he's great, despite the bad script), I disliked him so much, that I was rooting for the second male lead, and I rarely do that.

I love Bailu but the "heroine" in this drama is just a weak woman full of false bravado that accomplishes nothing, or very little things by sheer luck and no reason at all.

Just trust me, don't waste you time, 36 episodes of frustration is not good for the heart.

Interesting plot, poor execution , worth watch.

So I just finished this drama, and I have mixed feelings about it.

The drama centers about a very controversial plot: The aftermath of an assault victim , and her (and the the perpetrators as well) path to healing.

Pros: They show us the feelings of shame, anger, helplessness and victim blaming that Nina goes through and how they affect her in real life.
At the same time we are shown how the men start to understand how difficult it is to be a woman, and be blamed for the assault just because her skirt was not long enough, or some other dumb excuse society gives to the actions of men.
It really makes you think (and it is a very short drama so it's easy to watch) how prejudiced society is in general against women.

Cons: Honestly they bring a very mature theme in a very lightweight way that does not agree with the hole thing. They are very forgiving towards the perpetrators, trying to make you believe that while the assault is a bad thing, it's always forgivable.
While I think that the show is targeted to younger audiences (the drama happens in high-school) and they made it lightweight on purpose, such theme should be done in a more serious way.

In all, a very worth watch, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised (although the acting is a bit forced, but I think that is a bit of the way J-drama goes).

This one was bad

Ok, this drama is so confusing!
You think you are in for a nice rom-com but it's full off angst and weird plots.

The plot is all-over the place, I mean the thing she needs the most is to find her true love, but what does she do? Turn into an actress, the worst way to find a lover (at least by asian entertainment standards).

What I liked:
-The music was nice.
-The actors/actresses (especially the main couple) were good.

What I did not like:
-So she is a popular actress, but they show almost zero things related to this.
- He is a rich (???), petshop(???)/coffeeshop (???) owner (????)
- No background about anyone.
-The villain's motives are dumb.
- Too many loose ends.
- Confusing plot.
- Many plot holes.

Well just don't waste your time (like I did) on this one.

Nice start, boring ending.

This is the typical, syrupy rom-com. It started great, with a bossy/smart/strong FL, but unfortunately she looses some of her charming ways to become a boring FL (she still has some sparks, but it's greatly diminished throughout the episodes), and that made the drama loose some points, because it was what made me interested in the drama, in the first place.

I really liked the ML, he is so kind, and understanding (yeah it does help that he is hot), the type of guy who is friend zoned and is categorized as Second Male interest in dramas. In real life he would be the perfect choice to marry, and you can't help falling in love with him, so you do understand why she went after him, I mean, I would as well ;)

I wish this drama was shorter, I would have enjoyed it more. At some point, I started fast-fowarding a lot, because the secondary couples were getting too much screen time, so the plot was dragging a lot, and their stories weren't particularly interesting to me.

In all, it was a satisfying watch, and I do recommend it, specially, for those who like the clichés (like me ❤) and cute romance.

Ps: lot's of kisses and PDA.

Same old, with some fun and cuteness

This drama is definitely nothing extraordinary, but it does make you cheer on the main leads.

The leads are very cute and funny, and you actually see them grow whenever they face difficulties and it's nice, when you see people learn from their mistakes.

Xixi, the lead gal, starts very cute and very idealistic. She is naive and knows nothing about business (but do remember that while she has some practical experience, she has none in management or any former backgroundin business) which leads to mistakes and many insecurities, and that makes her relatable. I caught myself thinking, what would I do in her shoes, with her knowledge and monetary assets? And that made me be more sympathetic with her character.

Duan Ran, was so arrogant in the beginning, that I actually did not like him or his treatment of the FL. I think he contributed to a lot of her insecurities, however he does change and becomes one of her big supporters, and that is cute and lovable. He is a very lovable guy and you can't help liking him in the end.

The rest of the cast was great, I was engaged in their side stories and lives, and that is another positive point, because it kind of complements the main story.

The villains and their tricks are quite realistic and definitely something that could happen so I was happy with how grounded they were with the plot.

It's a cute, business drama, that is worth of your time, even if you have to fast-foward some parts!
