do i need to watch the series in order to understand the plot?
At least watch Ultimate Note first to understand Wu Xie better, because in Sha Hai he’s going through trauma and is very different, more isolated from his friends and focused on revenge.
After watching this I feel like there are other dramas out there that are connected to this one way or the other…
The Mystic Nine is where it all started, you get to meet Fo-Ye there and Wu Xie’s grandfather. You can leave it for last if you want, in my opinion. I love M9, but it is very much about the past.
Ultimate Note is the one that explains Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling the best, especially their bond.
The watch order does not really matter, you can understand it either way. Just keep in mind that Tomb of the Sea takes place about 5 years after Ultimate Note, and Reunion is around 10 years after Ultimate Note and 5 after Tomb of the Sea.
The older ones with Minghao and Yang Yang are pretty hard to watch, but the Minghao one is more watchable than the Yang Yang one. So for me, the best order is Ultimate Note, Tomb of the Sea, then Reunion (I do not love the plot, but the actors are good), and then the remake.
Also, be aware that all of them end on cliffhangers that are not really explained in the next series.
Definitely skip The Lost Tomb 2: Explore with the Note (2021), it is not good, and Adventure Behind the Bronze Door (2024), which is honestly pretty bad.
Well I decided to drop this. Don’t ask me why. I knew what I was signing myself up for but I’m so sick of…
You don’t need to announce it, you can just drop it and move on. And honestly I hope his future dramas stay more like this one. It’s the only drama of his I liked enough to watch past episode 3. I loved this one and I hope he gets more roles in this style
I felt like sending her a slap through the screen.Wth are you doing jumping in like that
He gave her the green pill. He wouldn’t have suffered if he had gone alone. He got that pill from Shen for this exact reason, and still had to lend it to save her.
Nope. Wanted to love this. Don't. Dropped. It's the same old same old with different actors, and it's draggy and…
It feels a bit unfair to dismiss it after only three episodes. The story really starts to take shape around episode five, once the setup and world-building are out of the way. You’ve seen less than 10% of it, that’s not much to judge by. The high rating isn’t because of fangirls, maybe it’s just not to your taste, and that’s fine, but there’s no need to sound like a hater about it.
they are not blood related "supposed twin" is on the sinopsys.
You probably already watched the part where she gets her memories back, right? Like I said, they were raised as twins and always treated each other like siblings. Xiao Ren doesn’t care and just loves and wants her anyway, but she did care, so she kept her distance in her original body.
But in this new one, as Li Zhao, she’s not related to him anymore, so now she can actually love him. Still, old habits die hard—he sometimes still calls her “sister.” He even told her he’ll be her husband and her brother. Like, okay dude, maybe he has an incest kink or something.
There’s a plot twist later, but fear nothing, it’s solved very quickly. Anyway, they get married! It’s a happy ending, but with a hook for a possible season 2.
