Choppy, Campy, Cute

So my take on this drama is that Xu Kai's role in this took a little while for me to get used to because the character he plays (Wan Lu) is soooooo conceited. I kept on watching though because Sandrine's character (Wan Wu) reminded me of myself and some of my best friends... kept me laughing myself silly

Altogether, I think I started warming up to him in the episode where his ego takes a serious beating and he shows some much needed humility and vulnerability... his likeability score before that episode wasn't very high.

The connectivity of each episode sometimes felt ever so slightly choppy... sometimes a "theme" would be introduced that would carry for maybe 3 or 4 episodes before that would be completed and another "theme" begun. This choppiness made the storyline feel more like a tv show than a smooth plotline, focused drama.

However, once I started the show, I didn't feel like dropping at all... the action, and tension were constant, the humor was funny most of the time ( to me), although I know others might prefer less campy comedy and more seriousness in the dramas they watch.

The start of the very first episode felt extremely cryptic and confusing, and half way through the drama when I began to suspect that Wan Lu was Ouyang reincarnated, I had to go back and rewatch the first episode to understand the from the strange occurrence of his birth. At the end when it's revealed otherwise, I had to read other fans assessment to discover that he WAS supposed to be Ouyang reincarnated in the book. I'm not sure why they changed that --- it makes a better storyline and also makes it easier to believe that they fall in love, because while I liked the not-serious, playful flirting between the two, I don't know how I feel about real budding feelings between WL and WW...I don't know if they can pull off the chemistry they need if they are supposed to fall in love. I guess we'll see since this show seems to be heading toward a second season.

I'll be keeping my eyes open, cuz it entertained me enough that I'll watch it as long as it has the same people acting in it.

I pushed myself all the way through season 1 and 2...I watched in viki so the seasons are in there together all in one "package" so to speak.

Let me tell you... it was tough. Our ML was annoying and immature all the way through season one. He got better in season two, but was still way more immature than I like MLs to be: Case in point, he almost never actually cultivated and practiced or did anything to grow his powers... all his "upgrades" were given to him by others.

The FL grew... she outpaced him really.

By the end, the show still had my grudging attention, but it wasn't the best of shows I've seen by far. Even the ending, though theoretically happy, was somewhat slap dash.

I give out 7 out of 10... watch if you have nothing better to do.

A show with great, wasted potential

This show has really good pacing and the female lead is strong, pretty, and intelligent. If you're looking for a strong female lead, she is it! And the interactions between the two main leads are hilarious as they love to hate each other.

It's fun wondering how they will end up together because the interactions between them are so caustic.

The show is awesome up until the last episode. WTF bad writing, directing, editing was this nonsense?!

It does have a happy ending, but the mess that happens in the last episode irritated me so bad, I couldn't even enjoy it. 7.5 rating.

Worth it

I had many false starts on this drama....I had to rewatch the first two episodes more than a couple times because I was distracted by other dramas I'd been waiting on for years (The pillow book.) The beginning of this drama felt a little dry to me, but once I sat down and decided I would watch no matter what....I was glad I did.

Our heroine was super annoying at first...a real spoiled brat, but she grows over time into a genuinely admirable character.

The ML is stoic, mysterious, and dull, but he also grows over time through his interactions with the FL.

My one qualm is that the FL looked and felt like she was 12yrs old up until the time she was sent to Xirong.

The acting of the other characters in Xirong was not great... sometimes laughable, but the FL and ML were decent enough that they carried the plot.

Spoiler.... characters and ships that you love are going to drop and die like it's a GOT spin off.... there are no happy endings even for the one ship that does sail.

The ending itself is very confusing. I was forced to search online until I discovered the movie which continues the story of our FL and ML... so technically there's a happy ending...I guess.

The story itself drew me in. Once I got passed the first 5-7 episodes, I was hooked. WARNING: Our FL suffers ALOT. I would almost compare her suffering to Qian qian in 10MoPB.

She stays courageous and strong throughout. I found myself admiring her ability to fool her enemies while plotting their death.

I would recommend this to anyone.... if you're looking for the happy ending, the movie has the ending you're looking for :-D

Intrigue, Suspense, and Riveting Action

This drama is complicated and requires focus. Don't blink because I guarantee you'll miss important clues.

Betrayal, loyalty, duplicity in the name of patriotism... you'll find it all here in The Wind Blows From Longxi.

Chen Kun's acting is superb. He moves from rage to grief so smoothly... his acting is pure joy to behold. That's not to belittle any of the other actors.... every single character in this drama is complex and interconnected.

You won't regret watching this !

If you crave a happy ending

This movie is basically the real ending for the drama by the same name. It has a happy ending, but the story felt drawn out and pointless.

The FL goes back to acting young and immature which is jarring considering all the growth she experienced in the drama.

Luo Huantong makes a reappearance with absolutely no explanation as to how he survived.

Overall, this ending should have been edited severely to cut unneeded scenes and added to the series as the last episode to give it a more complete feel.

Honestly, it's only value is that it gives our FL and ML a truly happy ending... which is a good enough reason to watch it.

Overall, the acting is meh and so is the plot, but worth a watch if you're the type that needs happy endings as much as I do :-D

7 of 10 stars.

I really loved Bai Lu's acting in this movie... in the beginning she was sooo #BOSS as zhaoyao. I was disappointed that later on she was so dependent on mo qing....I really felt like they should have made her more able to stand on her own after she supposedly regained her powers.

The drama suffered toward the end with transitions and weird jumps....the editing and transitions at the end were somewhat confusing but nowhere as bad as in The Journey of Flower which is also a good watch.

The ending with their children should have been played by other actors it was just confusing, but overall the storyline was good.

The whole transcending into a butterfly thing still left me conflicted...I mean he became a BUG lol... whatever!

This does technically have a happy ending, which is the most important thing for me when I watch cdramas...or I end up depressed for days.

Anyways, a good watch especially if you love staring at Xu Kai ????

I have to say that I really loved the casting for this drama.

I was especially happy to see NiNi as FL since I'd first watched her in Rise of Phoenixes, which was also excellent.

I loved all the actors in this drama, I can't think of one actor or actress that didn't embody their character.

That being said, the storyline was also excellent until maybe the last 10 episodes.

This review has spoilers so don't continue if you don't want to know the ending! Also, for those who are unable to watch tragic movies or shows... this one does have a happy ending.

All in all, I liked how the ending was cutesy....but it felt a bit like being given candy when I'm craving a meal...The ending leaves soooo many questions unanswered!!!!!

At the end, I was not feeling very satisfied, but at least wasn't crying my eyes out depressed because of a tragic ending like in Goodbye My Princess. All in all, the writing was pretty good up until the last ten episodes of this drama like I said-- here are the things I had the most issues with.......................

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW!

1. I felt like it was a little unfair for the advisor, but they did a good job portraying how characters/people can slowly descend into a darkness they would never have considered in the beginning such as with the female general. Apparently the lesson here is that self-righteousness can lead to complete darkness if it is tainted by selfish motives.

2. I felt that Lin Xi should have been more verbal about her anger at the God of War--I mean he did after all MURDER HER TWICE!

3. It was a little annoying how everyone in the show kept saying that the Spirit-Binding Abyss was IMPOSSIBLE to escape-- and yet a grand total of SIX people (that I recall in this moment) escaped from that place --some of which escaped TWICE.

4. HOW did Lin Xi escape the abyss????? Anyone?

5. How did Jui Chen escape from the bowels of Hell....Literally... and then also AGAIN escape from the Spirit-Binding Abyss??? Thoughts on this would be appreciated since the writers didn't feel that their avid audience had a need to know.

Conclusion:

Good enough to watch, though you might end up bemused by plot points at the end that made no sense....

NOT better than 10MoPB/ Eternal Love

BUT..... Good enough to rewatch if you've already watched Eternal Love a trillion times while angsting for 3L3W Pillow Book to some day make an appearance.

Intriguing Story Line

The story focuses around the FL, Jiang Jun, who suffers from an extremely rare disease: extreme anaphylactic reactions to her own tears.

The ML, Yuan Shuai, is a young extremely talented finance banking business man who grew up with the FL acting as her guardian/protector.

Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding between the two, they part ways in high school and don't see each other again until after college.

Jiang Jun and meet each other again when our FL applies for a job at the company where the ML holds a high position, and the misunderstandings ensue.

The 2nd ML, Du Lei, has his interest sparked in Jiang Jun when he believes that his business rival, Yuan Shuai, is dating her.

His motives seem questionable, as does his character.... until we are introduced to the 2nd FL who constantly accompanies him. The 2nd FL's relationship to him seems murky, unclear, and slightly sensual... until it's revealed what her real position in his life is.

The 2nd ML, Du Lei, has such in interesting and chaotic background, one hopes that his story has a good ending.

Meanwhile, Jiang Jun and Yuan Shuai stumbled through misunderstandings both hilarious and challenging.
