I mean, technically, the ending did have a lot of closure. Otaro went back in time and stopped himself from hurting a lot of people, especially Saiko as he was basically using her. The way the drama ended, they meet on equal terms and have a nontoxic, happy relationship. Do I wish we had more time with them as a couple? Yes. But I'm still satisfied with the ending.
It was the first jdrama I watched and it just has a quality that I have never been able to find anywhere else. Dynamic, darkly comic, romantic, with a charismatic lead, cute FL and an imaginative storyline - something just works somehow. Plus, the ending isn't completed in the main drama - you have to watch the additional episodes to get the happy ending.

No you're right, the link to the raws seem to be down. You can get the raw from here: https://dramahd.me/last-winter-we-parted/ It just has a lot of awful ads. you can get subtitles from the same LiveJournal page
I mean, other FLs have gorgeous outfits in other jdramas or jmovies even it doesn't make sense. it's just in this drama they gave her such avg outfits, which is a shame.
I honestly don't like Rei, she feels too domineering to me tbh, someone who decides whatever she wants and then gets angry when someone challenges her. But I can't deny when she laughs and smiles, she looks so cute with those dimples (?)
Also are they teasing Shunpei x Rei at the end of ep.4?
My unpopular view: too sentimental, too cliche, just trying to make you cry from the first second to the last…
Honestly I agree, it feels like it's trying too hard to make us cry instead of actually trying to examine single parenthood and the idea of found family. Regardless, it's still entertaining somehow, or at least I still feel like finishing it.
This is one of the best Japanese movies I've seen and definitely one of the best manga adaptations, so I don't get the negative reviews. I didn't see the original manga or whatever but I simply loved the movie. A simple story but with lots of chemistry and a warm, wholesome vibe. The cinematography was simply gorgeous, excellibg even usual Japanese film standards. The acting was great, the entire cast did great. The romance was so cute too! 10/10 from me.
I don't know about his filmography but he is such an asshole in his private life
Sorry, when I made this comment, I was a bit mad and this was probably unwarranted. But essentially, he cheated on his longtime gf with a TV reporter and then made a needlessly gruesome movie about how all of his critics were actually mindless zombies.
