You know what else sold it for me? That slow-mo scene right after the ML saved the FL from drowning in ep 1 or 2 — him walking in wearing that black cloak.

It honestly felt like the director was teasing the viewers and going, “Alright everyone, let me properly introduce you to the ML now. Check. Him. Out. masculine aura.”

Yeah… I was sold!

To be honest, half of it also comes down to the mindset of the daughter-in-law. If you make a huge fuss out of every little thing like all the toxic women in the Gu household, then of course even a good MIL becomes terrible.

Depends what you are after, this is very slow burn romance but big pay off….

High five. I actually just saw an IG influencer who was only around Episode 8 saying this drama is mediocre. And then came all comments agreeing with her.

Well, they obviously didn’t stick around long enough to see how the couple’s relationship slowly unfolds and so quick to judge!

I haven’t watched The Rise of Ning yet, but just based on gut feeling after watching a few clips, it does seem the case.

The ML and FL here really bounce off each other’s energy, so their dynamic feels very fluid and natural. Even the way their hug feels really warm and cozy. Meanwhile, the clips I watched from Rise of Ning felt a bit more “staged” .

Curious to hear from people who have actually watched the drama though — maybe there’s more depth to their chemistry that i missed

I love that ever since they became a couple, our FL has never been stingy when it comes to initiating hugs and kisses. It may have taken a long time for her to fully commit, but once she did, there was no turning back.

The pay off for ML and us viewers….
