Not Madam Chen complaining again — this time about her son CYY secretly adding even more gifts to their already generous betrothal presents for Gu Jing Zhao. She said that at this rate, her son is practically going to hand over the entire household fortune to his future wife.
I just discovered Ci Sha, and as someone who loves analyzing acting, I think his biggest strength is his eyes.…
He does. I just watched one of his interviews, and Ci Sha mentioned how challenging this role was for him. He had to balance being restrained and controlled (sometimes appearing as wooden) while still showing enough subtle expression for viewers to understand what the character was thinking and feeling.
Personally, I’m already satisfied with his portrayal — his eyes, presence, and aura carried the character well for me. I was just trying to analyze why some viewers might criticize him for being wooden.
Like with Winwin, I can see the effort he puts into using eye shifts and subtle expressions to show the character’s inner thoughts. But sometimes it still feels a bit too deliberate or “acted” rather than natural and lived-in.
When Chen’s yanyun little sister asked the FL when they started falling for each other and guessed it was around the time CYY moved to Tongzhou for a few months one year ago — around the same time the FL returned.
Man, the things CYY quietly did to get close to her… and here we have Ye Xian and Xuan Qing still questioning why the FL chose CYY. Ye xian/xuang qing when did you guys ever visited tongzhou?
It goes without saying “The one who waters the flower is the one who gets to see it bloom.”
The story of Ming Lan. I am now ep 26 and the main couple are nowhere near the flirting stage. However the brisk…
It’s also on my watchlist, but honestly I’m a bit intimidated by the 70+ episodes. I’m also a sucker for good acting and not just polished visuals, and I’ve read that The Story of Minglan is one of those dramas with a genuinely strong cast and well-written characters.
What’s in your top 5?
To be honest, I’m usually not very plot-specific. I can enjoy slow-paced slice-of-life dramas as long as the acting is good and the characters are well written.
I’m not but I’m watching The Rise of Ning alongside lol there’s a lot of similarities
I will try a few episodes once i get some time. I am always on the lookout for good male actors with effortless acting like bai jing ting or intensity and presence like ci sha and wu lei. So far these 3 are my faves so i am still on the lookout for more actors haha
(and the quiet ones are deadlier like xiang qing)
Always love a whingy but supportive mom….😍

Xian qing had one or two short interactions with FL and here he is throwing a tantrum too. Why are these men here so immature?
