They're still hyping up Jack's mystery persona so I understand why it hasn't developed THAT way yet. However, I think it'll start next week. Check episode 10 . There's a short scene in the station showing how dependent they all are on Shaofei and how competent he is with his work to the point where the station is in shambles without him. I think this pretty much refutes your argument that he doesn't, and I quote, "behave like an adult and act more like a cop".

I don't think what the team is doing is "infantalizing" him. He has shown many instances of maturity when it comes to his profession (e.g. when he apologized to the international police). I think he just acts in a peculiar way when it comes to Tangyi in particular. I mean the dude's been on Tangyi's ass for four years, and he's so into him but fails to acknowledge it. I think this "cringey infantalization" is more of his character interaction with Tangyi rather than as a character description. And although his character is kinda annoying, it does grow on you once you understand his perspective.
