I was kind of scared they were going for the typical “dead fish” kiss, since a lot of Japanese BLs are notorious for that. Instead, they surprised me by actually giving us a genuinely good kissing scene. This cliché-filled show has been my happy pill for the past ten weeks, and I’m kind of sad it’s over. It’s definitely up there as one of my favorite BL dramas.

I mean in the stills and previews for the finale, there are potentially two kisses there (one in the classroom and one in the bedroom). The only question is whether these kisses would be good or not.

This feels like a healthy mix of anticipation and dread, hoping the episode comes sooner so I can watch these scenes, while also dreading it because it will be the last episode. 😭

I really love how healthy their relationship dynamic is. Watarai made sure to clear up any misunderstanding before the day ended because he sensed that Hioki might have been feeling down. Hioki, on the other hand, didn’t hold back and openly shared all of his concerns with Watarai. The two of them are just so adorable. 🥺

The upcoming stills and preview for episode 10 look so cute and steamy. The way they saved up all the kisses for the last episode is diabolical like how am I going to function properly until then. 😑

Right? Like why can't we just enjoy our silly and cute highschool bfs without people questioning why we like this show so much? Let people enjoy things idk. 🤷

How are you going to watch a Japanese highschool romcom and expect them to have sex like rabbits through the show? If that is the case, boy you are watching the wrong show. Also the misogynistic comments? Yikes.

As you've mentioned, Kan starred in a BL titled "Although I love you, and you?" and Kodai in "Smells like Green Spirit"

I like his portrayal of Hioki as someone who’s shy and aloof, yet also knows when to speak up when necessary.

I'm still clinging to the fact that both leads have been in a BL before that involved decent kissing so I'm kinda hoping but still don't wanna get my hopes up.

It did turn me off a bit, but I appreciated how Watarai admitted to Hioki that his possessiveness comes from his insecurity. It's the fear that Hioki might reciprocate someone else’s feelings before reciprocating his. Also him openly admitting how lame it is how he acted that way was kinda cute tbh.

This show is cliché af but I still find myself giggling and kicking the air whenever the leads interact. Its execution is just perfection without being overly cringe or taking itself too seriously. It's coming in to be one of my favorite BLs of all time if the quality continues up until the finale.

The rewatch value of this show is insane the way I still find myself giggling from replaying the same scene over 39 times. 🤡

The way my face hurt from smiling throughout the latest episode. This show sure does know how to deliver the perfect dose of wholesomeness.

The show's plot isn't out of the box and is downright cliché, but somehow I find myself giggling every second while watching this show. The two leads have amazing chemistry with each other and watching this show just makes me feel all fuzzy inside. I'm surprised Watarai confessed this early in the series but I'm hoping the momentum continues from here on out.

Japanese BL's rarely reach a score of 8 these days. Honestly speaking, I do think the 8.9 is deserved. It's not perfect but it's leagues above your usual BL formula.

You can tell this show was handled with care and love with how everything turned out.

And yes, Old Fashion Cupcake is one of my top favorites along with Eternal Yesterday and Our Youth.

I also had the exact same concerns before watching this due to the oversaturation of BLs centered around a school setting. But this series proved me wrong from the very start. Everything was just done so beautifully. I hope you'll love it just as much as I did.

Honestly, it's much easier to digest if you imagine they'll come out eventually. Maybe not now, but maybe in a few years 😂
