The writer has probably the ending since long. So I don't expect season 4.But I hope she will continue to write…
It's not sure. I hope too.
She said also she meet with Penthouse the best drama team in her life, about director and actors. And Director was also on her previous drama "the last empress". The director indeed, understand very well her writing and is fully involved in this kind of delirium. So there is a huge power here. Power of writer, power of director, and finaly actors who have crazy fun and give all the best of them. I think in last empress it was like that too, but the last empress was a good guide for actors of penthouse. They knew they could go so far in their acting.
Director don't just make scene, he is able to bring new ideas, and it make Penthouse one the ultimate drama I ever watched in my drama-watcher life. You know, the scene when So-Jin eat the SIM card ? It was not in the script but it's a idea of the director. It's how so well the drama have additionnal support. Also, the scene when Joo Dan Tae sing, it's an idea of him to choose this song. Actor have some margin too.

God! I really Love this drama! But I hope they don't make season 4 after this. It's gonna be exhausting.
The writer has probably the ending since long. So I don't expect season 4.
But I hope she will continue to write dramas.
And it's not sure because she said it was her last one.

You are watching a drama written by Kim Soon Ok who also wrote The Last Empress, where Tae Hang Ho can magically…
This parody scene was gold. Most extreme makjang Self-parody ever.

But how do they expect us to wait for months until the next season? I'm sooooo hyped? Because 5 minutes before…
Yah! It's just 2 months.
If you are frustrated, go watch quickly other dramas of Kim Soon Ok writer. ;-)
Or others good makjang.
Or if you want the same kind of off-beat/dark-comedy inside, these two dramas :
Incarnation of money, History of the salaryman.

By the way, I just looked at your watch list : You didn't watched The Last Empress yet ???
Boooooooh boooo boooohhh!!! (•‿•)

The ending made me glad I didn't start liking Jeni and her mom the minute they showed character development. They…
Yes, except Jeni is a good ground for internal conflict now, in top of that. ;-)

What about the ending they gave to vampire Logan? Lol! What's your opinion about that?
I posted a new comment about that. Splendid ! It couldn't be a better ending.
As spectators, the situation is obvious, we see the setup and we think quick there is a trap. It's dramatic irony: The spectator guess and know, the character don't.

True fact: Who is the old bum at the end? Here, the PROOF! (view spoiler)
It is Joo Dan Tae.
Which gives the proof: just before the bomb explodes, the tramp makes a very precise hand signal to Logan Lee.

Go back to season 1, episode 20.
02:35 - Logan Lee reveals to Joo Dan Tae that he was the gym teacher. So he used a disguise.
03:05 - Logan Lee makes the hand gesture to Joo Dan Tae.

The final scene of season 2 is the same kind, in reverse. Since Joo Dan Tae is currently disguised as a bum, he makes the same hand gesture to Logan Lee. For him to understand that the bum is actually Joo Dan Tae.

The revenge of Joo Dan Tae is just perfect. He reveals to his enemy who he is, when Logan Lee is going to die, but at the moment when it's too late, and Logan Lee can't escape from death anymore. Logan Lee dies helplessly with this last and horrible thought.
This is what Joo Dan Tae must have felt when he was trapped by Logan Lee at the beginning of episode 20. Except that Dan Tae was simply imprisoned.

Note: there is also a small chance that the stumbling killer is just a henchman, who has received specific instructions.
But there is also something fishy about his attitude at the end. When he holds his cane behind his shoulders and his head slightly tilted. This is typically a Joo Dan Tae attitude.

he's the old man
I watched again, he really don't look like the old man, but at one point, he make a gesture with his arm to Logan Lee. And maybe it's a typical JDT gesture.

I finished the last episode. I have a comment on the intelligence of the script.
The court scene is a big mess, quite funny and intense. We notice at this point that Yoon-Hee's verdict is not mentioned. The moment when this happens is afterwards, during a flashback. The scriptwriter has separated this moment in the chronology of the script, so that it is not interfered with by the general mess of the scene. Thus isolated, this moment fulfills its function of being truly moving.

Is it really so bad? 2 screenwriters and an all star cast.
No, it's a very good drama. Qualities surpass easely what's wrong into it.
Just watch 2 episodes and you will get your own idea.

It was actualy the case. ;-)
I explained that previously. 4 episodes is probably too much for a compression/compact. It need rewrite and removal. Then it's possible the pace is more slow after than before. There is production decision, it's hard for channel to give more than 16 episodes about SF-like drama. You can even see than LUCA is just 12 episodes, 365 Repeat the year too. Last time I remember a drama like this with more was 9 times travel (20 episodes). I think the drama could be told in 16 episodes if really needed.

This kind of drama look like risky for production house. We know often the rating are less good. And even the best dramas with high rating don't have the same kind of rating than other dramas because of the genre. Remember how the Memories of the Alhambra rating was good. But it was just 11% average. It's too SF/twilight zone kind of story. The producer are ready to go more in full fantasy. Take Hotel del luna or Goblin. I don't like Goblin, it's the most boring drama I never watched and dropped. But the rating was huge and this drama is now a cultural reference.

no matter how bored it makes me but once in 2 eps every week, it gets on my mind and I just want to watch the…
Future scenes always have a purpose, and even not just one. We see for example the encounter with TS bodyguard, linked with the school plot-twist. We see Sigma in the future with rich men and even some older ICB agents. Etc.
It is essential also because this way of telling the story really make the loop, permanent link past-future. You couldn't get that if you write the story in a linear way. It's more easy to understand. It make crazy good scenes like Seo Hae discovering her grave.

Sometimes, these scenes should be better if shortened. With that time back, there is a lot of other things to tell and show, that would be more logical : why Tae Sul don't try to get information about how the war will begin ? This war look like from nowhere. Before a war, there is some tension, political context, and even a declaration of war. Why nobody from the future speak about that, also ?

About radiations, finaly after many episodes, a short sentence give us a context : in case of nuclear attack (it's not a disaster like tchernobyl), radiations become lower quickly. We also get a scene with many corpses in the subway, and understand that these people probably die of radiations. So the future we see can't be that dark one, immediatly following the war. Future scene say us Seo Hae and father stay 9 years in the bunker. This part at least is logical, and we can expect naturel life, tree, vegetation coming back.

As I have the reflex to stick to the context when telling a story, cause and effect, and give a following at what happens, How is it possible that Korea is alone after the disaster ? We could expect international help.
Always take situation seriously and think about logical contigences and consequences. Easy to say, not always easy to make. The writer is focused on other parts of a complicated story. And if it don't go directly in the current plot, many things could be missed. It's sometimes difficult to spot, or it's spotted but it's difficult to make the decision about what is really needed to tell. Some explanations could make logical scenes, but also useless ones for the dramaturgy.
