Ohhk I have saw somewhere written that all the stories depicted in War of Y are based on true stories. Does anyone…
I recognize some of the incidents, but not all of them. But I think the perspective here is largely fictional. And there is a perspective. Its basically "Hey, you shippers, who want to believe that these couples are real. Well, I'm here to tell you that if your fantasy was always "true", it would still absolutely suck for the actors because the industry is rotten and the actors have messy personal lives." So they are serving up to fans stories that the fans say they always want in a way that makes wanting the fantasy seem cruel. The best thing most of these actors could do for their personal happiness and moral development is leave the industry.
Anyway, since its very fictionalized I don't want to name names of who I think P and Dew and Most and Achi are parodying as that would start a flame war.
Episode 1 The Good -I liked it well enough. Was glad that so far Noey hasn't been shown doing very nasty bullying. The bullying he does do is more embarrassing to himself than harmful to others. He actually appears to be a modifying influence on the gang. I don't think I would have kept with the series had he actually done something like beat up O because he got turned down. -I also liked that Noey doesn't appear to have some kind of hidden secret talent for singing. -I did like the old-timey number. Toey is more of a new urban hipster than a gangster, what with his vinyl and cassette collection and retro taste. I do hope his obsession with that song is something he'll get over, but I'd be happy if they inserted more songs like it. It would be a nice change from the pop soundtrack we're used to.
The Meh -The editing here is weird. I was confused as to who was bumping into whom in the bus and by the ditch where the lotus got tossed. -Thi is a bit much sometimes. Hopefully he'll grow up a bit. -Lots of puns, I'm assuming. That's going to be lost on non-speakers. Which is fine. We're not the actual market for it. We're going to have to rely on the story, though.
Episode 4 The Good -Well, I'm guessing Gap's dad would not have been a fan of Martin Luther King. Sheesh. "I have a dream." "No. You don't." "Do you want to hear what it is?" "No. Stop having it." "Its to become a CPA and work in an office..." "To baaaad. So saadd. It'll never happen. Stop it with the pie in the sky thinking." "I'd like to walk across the street and get a banana. I hope it's ripe." "There you go with your ridiculous hopes and dreams again. Give it up. Bananas will never be ripe in this household." -Maitoh and Shogun seem like they are in another series. That said, I think Shogun is going to turn him down. I'm going to guess that he's taken already.
The Meh -While I understand what's driving Nice to keep it a secret, they really need to learn how to kiss secretly. It shouldn't take 5 seconds to wind up and smooch. LOL.
That father in that Kill Bill yellow jump suit was out of control LMAO!! The whole flashback to his "dream" was…
Sigh. No disrespect for Quentin Tarrantino, but Bruce Lee wore that jumpsuit first in Game of Death, and I think the dad is wearing it to be like Bruce, not to be like Uma Thurman.
Episode 7 The Good -Well, there's always the shorts. And Pleum's shorts were plenty high this episode, too. My 2023 dream is for GMM to pick up on this trend so that Neo will be showing off those thighs in short shorts in his next series. I think the world might end. At least for me. -I thought it was a fitting departure for the parents.
The Meh -CoC. There are painted ladies in the windows of the brothels in the red light district in Amsterdam who wear more subtle shades of lipstick than Brook was forced to wear in that scene. My guess is that this was a novel and it was written that Jake had ruby red lips and so they actually thought the actor needed a garish red tone. -I know the goal is to have English spoken clearly and slowly so that an average Thai viewer with 4 years of High School English can understand it, but that was a glaringly emotionless call with someone whose son had just passed away. We're a tad bit more expressive over here. I'm available to provide my voice for scenes like this going forward, Thailand, if you need me. -Once again, I have no idea how and when Thai people ever start dating and when they become boyfriends. I think you can informally see someone for years, move in with them, open a joint checking account, pledge to be by each other's side forever, frequently have sex, greet each other with kissing at the beginning and end of each day, and it still is considered an informal relationship. -I know that Thais have much more difficult time giving people bad news than in the US, to the point that they wait for the last possible minute to spring it on you, if they ever do...so all this seems more natural to Thai's than westerner...but Kevin, dear, if you loved him, you should have told him earlier that you had a flight back to Seattle. And yeah, I think you were leading him on about the possibility that you'd be together a long time so that you'd get a little nookie while you were abroad. Sorry, bucko, but man up and be truthful. Your actions make you appear weak in my eyes.
Episode 15 reaction The Good -I liked when the writer was invited to the set and the first thing she commented on was that they weren't tanned enough to be swimmers. LOL. I was thinking the same thing. But then she said something about how the story should emphasize their friendship, and I was wondering if she was really a BL author. -Reading the synopsis, I figured that it was Most who had the hidden wife. I figured Achi's struggle with his parents was over the fact that he was gay, so I'm surprised. In a good way. -And as usual, any time Talay is present, I'm all in. I hope this is the series where Dew and P finally get more of a story, even if it turns out that P is as bad as everyone else.
The Meh -O.K. I get that one of the points of the series is about how fantasy and reality get blurred, but I really wish they would make it clear when we're watching BTS and when we're watching the production of SS. So Korn and Earth are actually dating now, but what was up with Achi and Most in the locker room and the shoes? -I guess I missed who Fern is as per the production of SS. Why is she on the set? Is she a PA? I know she's there because P wants her to look after the stars, but I'm not sure what's up with her. I guess there are just lots of random hangers on around any movie set, so she just gets to move around freely, but really, just being a fan shouldn't be enough to get someone access to the dressing rooms. I'm guessing that she's actually P's wife though, so if Achi does end up with her, he'll be cheating on his contract with the boss's wife. Oops.
In episode 17 preview, they say" Y series these days doesn't care about the plot"This is so true for a lot of…
Unfortunately, its a lost cause. Go to any BL site and and most of the posts about a series will be excerpts from the NC scenes, most of the criticism is going to focus on the quality of the kissing. Another chunk will be about any positive message! But complain about how it doesn't make sense and the acting is bad and you'll be barraged with complaints that you should shut up and not ruin it for everyone.
Ugh. I really hated the 2nd half of the episode. Why bother teasing us with Intha just to have it end? Any now there's DJ or whatever. So I guess this is the author where long term secret crushes are the greatest thing. (Tonhon Chonlatee is the same story). Oh, but it seems that Run isn't telling the whole story.
Anyway, it took Ai 5,000 minutes to get back to his apartment after receiving the text, that he could have just responded to in .5 seconds with "She's my sister." But no. I get it that BL fans find little jealous snits adorable, but everything was so contrived. Also, Ai holding a grudge against his little sister for being born seems way out of character for the character who is supposed to be the more mature one. That's the kind of thing you're supposed to be over by now. Your dad is a homosexual, Ai. Did you think your mom should stay around and never have another relationship? How dare she not let you stay the only child....
Actually no, as far as I can remember Takumi Kun The Series was the 1st japanese bl series that I know that had…
This is airing on a network. Takumi Kun was direct to video. They are following what the network will allow. So its a tradeoff. Want it to appeal to a more conservative audience than fujoshi? Then downplay the kissing.
I love that they talked about going to therapy as a main option here! So many romances try to replace therapy…
At the very least he needs a therapist to help him work on better coping techniques than he has now. Still, I want to clunk him over the head for bringing that liquor distributor to the clinic.
Overall, I liked it and hope that Ho Joon and Jae Yoon give BL a go one or two more times. They are good together. One of the benefits of the series being so short is that they didn't have time to have dramatic Korean parents. Give it more episodes and it'll turn out that while mom says she doesn't care who he loves as long as he doesn't do his loving in nowhere town, she'll craftily go Ji Woong and tell him he must leave. Or have dad sic the corporate thugs on Seo Bin so that the only way out is to kill the parents off in a helicopter accident (looking at you, OMSN!).
I like these two in a comedy together better than I did in the angsty vampire tragedy. Hopefully the stars will align and will get one more chance to see what they can do.
Episode 1 -The Good *Well, at least we're going to be spared a campus moon cliché. No one would want to be associated with the moon at all this semester. *So far so good with Art. That's who I'm here to see. *Michael, though, has aged well. I haven't seen him in years. I'm guessing he'll be breaking out of prison, or just released as its piss poor to make even prisoners wait out doomsday. Which is probably accurate, though. Be interesting to see the legislature debate that on their way to the bunker. *I was fine with Golf being suffering from depression and anxiety, although he lost me when he started shaking Lin and called her a whore. Look, I understand, but he's dug himself a hole that he needs to fill up if he's expecting sympathy at this point.
-The meh Its a Thai thing, but it was tonally out of place to insert the suicide attempt and then have him not know what to do with the pills when Lin walked in. Not funny. Not appropriate for the character. Just spit them out.
Yep. Bucking the trend here again, to note that this is my favorite segment. Probably because I didn't think I'd like the setting. Yeah, it looked like the producers are helping Peek by reimagining their scene, but it worked. No kabedon with the aggressive seme caging the uke. I might watch that series.
The good: Talay does not have to do much. He could play a floor lamp and I'd be drawn to look at him whenever he's on set. He remains one of the most gorgeous Thai BL stars and I wish he'd take a lead role again. But alas, I think he sees himself as an executive.
Honestly, I don't know how this will end. Are they just setting Peek up to get him to cry when he doesn't win? Will he drop out once he realizes that Kla actually likes him? Does Kla actually like him? Will it turn out that Achi was correct and Peek really did save his career by giving it up to Pond? Who knows? We assume Most/Achi will win because they are the lead in the next segment, but I wouldn't count on it. Who knows. Maybe Achi and Peek will win and Peek will drop out.
The meh: Ugh. They are doing that Thai thing where they skip a bunch of scenes - that they'll probably fill in next episodes. Like when was the decision made to re-pair Kla and Peek? What was Peek's "Punishment?"
Anyway, since its very fictionalized I don't want to name names of who I think P and Dew and Most and Achi are parodying as that would start a flame war.
