Romanticized story of a kingdom divided cannot stand.
The romance side is the part I fell in love with… the other side of demons/monsters I could do without. That being said I loved the story development of the “monsters” relationship. In reality I know it would never happen but it was fun to humanize them a bit and allow them to grown fond of each other and even love in friendship together. It was rather dragged out around episode 14 onwards - I'd rather watch 10 very good episodes than 20 just for the sake of carrying it on.
The ending it's not that bad, but it's way too predictable: if you're not into open endings, just forget about this drama.
Onto the good stuff:
- Lee Seung Gi is just gold in this series, I cannot think of anybody else for the role of Son Oh Gong. Same goes for Cha Seung Won (Ma Wang) and Sung Hyuk (General Frost).
- Soundtrack is Bomb: "Let me out" is a hit as well as "If You Were Me" and "When I Saw You".
I don't think I'd rewatch this, cause it's too painful now (i didn't enjoy the ending) and also because of the dragged out part (13-17)
The ending was a bit on the sad side - leaving you wanting to know if he gets her back and how he does it. That being said, as he has to go to the underworld - I think it will definitely be too dark for me liking. Will have to see if they bring our a season 2.

Awesome!!!!!
I have to say that this one, even with the evil spirits, kept me fixed to the screen. I loved the cast members and their acting was superb. To see the three family members interacting without knowing they’re family was fun to watch. I figured it out early in the piece about the Crown Prince but wasn’t surprised when they showed the child. I know I’ll probably sit down and watch this one again even though I flicked through some of the spiritual scenes of the evil Kim Wong-Hyong killing/absorbing other spirits. Was this review helpful to you?
Quirky and fun
Okay so I started watching this and I have to be honest I almost dropped it. The drama of the madness nearly overwhelmed me. That being said the storyline didn’t finish there and was definitely well worth the hold out to see the end through.CAsting was brilliant and I love that SuHyun is in it - awesome. The other cast members are terrific and did so well in their roles.
Music is a nice touch.
Not sure if I’d ever rewatch it but it could happen.
Overall a terrific short drama that finishes well and you’ll not be sorry you watched it.

Frustrating but worthwhile
Okay so here goes. I loved JGW in this drama - his was really the only consistent role in the entire drama and I’m thankful for that. On the other hand this frustrated me no end - the drama - not sure if it’s the writer’s fault or the director’s but the character of UTW (Medical Director) was so wishy washy with regards to his feelings and emotions that I wanted to hit him. Leading on and then pushing away - never knowing which way he was truly going. The reason is shown at the end of the drama so it did redeem his character at that point for me. His role, other than the love stuff, was brilliant as was his acting in it. As far as KSY (Doctor) i feel like her role was also a bit all over the place emotionally. She’d lean on the Director but think of PJH. If this was cleaned up a bit then it would have been a brilliant drama………Music was lovely - loved it.
Rewatch value - as frustrating as it was in parts for me to watch, I’d probably sit through it again as I just loved loved loved JGW in this one. I’ve seen him in many other roles as the bad guy that you love to hate but this one was just yummy.

Loved it
Reminiscent of days gone by, my days gone by. This is definitely my era and youth. Love love loved it.Storyline was terrific and I loved how the producers re-created the bygone era’s well, even down to the books and tapes.
Acting and Casting couldn’t have been better selected. I love Go Ah-Ra and her cohorts they were all terrific and did extremely well in their portrayal of the characters they played.
Music is reminiscent of each decade as they went through - well thought out.
Rewatch value - I may never rewatch it again but I definitely could and would if someone wants to sit with me.
OVerall - this brought back the memories of my very own 1990’s and 2000’s. The baggy pants of MC Hammer (western world) and the music - I so loved reliving it. This may have had the Korean details but still took me back to my time at that point. Thank you so much to the Director and Producers for bringing this to life. I do have to add that I love how you brought in the cast from 1997 too. That was just super cute. 💕

Friends to Lovers
Okay so I have to say it - storyline overall was well written and portrayed. I have to say though that the one thing that frustrated me no end is the way the main lead actress is pushing for ‘her man’ to go into the arms of the woman who left him without a word and also was cheating on him at the time. I’m sorry but never in all my life would I consider doing this to the man I’m in love with. Yes I too married my best friend and we too had a 6 month hiatus when things were moving a bit too fast for me. That being said - the time apart I hated the fact that the girls were all gooing and ga-ing over him when I couldn’t. I believe that if you’re already in the feelings stage of realising that your best friend has now moved into the moving your heart phase - I’m going to do all I can to keep him as mine. No matter how famous the other old flame is. Just my add on. Sorry to all those who absolutely loved the way this was close to reality - for me, not so much…….Was this review helpful to you?
Amazing
Loved this one, acting is superb. PBY and AHS were just brilliant as well as the supporting cast members. Lee Seong Jae was brilliant at the evil doctor as was KSH at being the evil son/brother. Such incredible acting throughout.Storyline is amazing, although I would have liked to see a bit more resolved at the end ie his mum being brought in at the end but overall this was brilliant. If I had one criticism it would be that Hee Jin do do not get enough screen time towards the end and left some questions regarding how she resolved everything.
Special effects all the way through fabulous.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
Okay so I’m not usually one for dark thriller’s but this one had me hooked. There were parts that I wanted to skip over (generally too much rehashing) but overall I would definitely watch this one again. KYK was amazing as usual as was the rest of the cast. OMG I cannot say it enough this was a top notch piece. The romance side is short lived but revived and the character development throughout is incredible to watch. I would most definitely recommend this one and it has become one of my favourites I think. Was this review helpful to you?

Loved it
Although I’ve never seen the Cdrama version (and probably never will) I have to disagree with most of the reviewers here. Could be my personal preference but I loved how the drama unfolded and the chemistry between the actors was there. It’s definitely a lighter drama and fluffy feelings abound but the fact that they hit troubled waters and manage to navigate through them - in the end. I appreciated it. I will probably rewatch this one for sure. Nice and light and feel good. I love the innocence in it too.Was this review helpful to you?

Loved Loved Loved it!!!!
What can I say - I absolutely loved this drama. Unlike some others who had some quite interesting takes on it and then dropped it. I fell in love with the characters and the story. It drew me in to the point I ended up smashing out the 128 episodes in no time at all (not realising it was the last episode) and didn’t want it to end. Did I get bored with the retells of old memories - yes I did (just a little bit) but that was quickly remedied with the FF button hahaha.🤣Both Lead Actors were just brilliant in the way they portrayed their roles and there was a good chemistry between the 2.
The step-sister - you just love to hate her evilness and in the end - character development - just gotta love writers who do that. ♥️
The step-mum - yep you just get downright annoyed with her stupidity and jealousy. Although there was somewhat of a change - I still didn’t take to her character at all in this one. (Good writing) I did love the others though and all the actors were brilliant in it.
Loved it.

Fools might think it's the same old same old storyline but the cast in this drama did an amazing job all round. I particularly loved Joy's role in this whole production, she makes it worth watching.

NOT WORTH YOUR TIME
let me start by saying, I Love Love love Lee Min Ho and MOST of his career choices. this for me was a major fail. I’m not sure what he saw in the script but for me it just failed big time. apart from the fact that the FL can justify the reproduction of fruit flies and mice in space but then turn around and destroy human life as a justification of the ‘roles’ shows just where this world is at regarding life choices. put aside the huge lacking of chemistry in any of the romantic interests particularly the 2 leads. I just didn’t find this one worth continuing past episode 5. my daughter and I have a 3 episode rule, give it a chance but if by episode 3 it’s not got you tgen we can drop it. I found myself pushing ahead, wanting it to get better because of Min Ho, however it just wasn’t worth it for me……the storyline goes from bad to worse and that’s not the actors fault

it’s worthwhile watching
For a comedy it was light on but funny in many ways. As a mystery, they did well. PSH was terrific as Miss Hong and her many characters… Inalso loved thata they didnt bring romance into this other than the back story of the leads.Character development was made throughout and the criminals get their just desserts.
This one definitley kept me on my seat, wanting more. Yes there were parts that I didn’t think Inwanted to know about but by persisting, I was rewarded.
This is definitely one I will be rewatching.

It’s Funny
I loved this one, the storyline, the acting and the setting. it was all so fabulous.I did not care for the FIL at all as either a minister or the father. He did his job well, in making you hate him. The romance was fun and the comedy - I couldn’t stop giggling, all the way through. Set in the Joseon era, the writer did well to keep it historically correct with the widows and the way females were treared and yet was so good at bringing in the humour at apptporiate moments. Yes tgere was an age gap, Noona romance, however I have to say both Leads carried it well and there was definitely chemistry. overall, well done!!!

blood and gore
oh my gosh, this was so very well put together. from the beginning tomthe end, the storyline and production were amazing. a little on the gory side for those who dont like blood but nevertheless a brilliant drama. I love the fact that they had a secondary couple romantically even though you dont see too much romance between the lead actors, the sentiment is there. Understandably the emotions are subdued, due to her being raised by a criminal organisation. controlled by any signs of weakness (hers being those she loved or saw as family).I also loved how the writer wrote a redemption side to the FL, although she set about to kill those who had killed her family, the ending is so well written.
Kudos to the whole team, writer, producer and actors.
