Surprisingly Good!

I came into this movie with only one expectation: that it was going to be bad, because honestly, I've NEVER been impressed by a Japanese BL in my life. The tables have turned!
But this truly isn't a BL. Lol! This movie has a lot of heterosexual fantasies in it, but the mains just happen to be kinda gay with each other. In a very lustful way-- not so much in a fluffy, romantic way. One of them constantly has super gay fantasies, so I guess, maybe it's a BL??

Anyways, I freakin' loved this series! I binged the 6 episodes in one night. I thought it was art. It brought me through a rollercoaster of emotion/thoughts, and it always left me on the edge of my seat.
Just a warning that this movie isn't for people who want light-hearted cutesy stuff. This movie was about raw sexuality and desire. There's a lot of sexual stuff in it. But it also has a story! And you actually care about the characters. Sometimes, you become curious, and think, "well, he's mysterious!"

+1 Cast
+1 Acting
+1 Story
+1 Would rewatch it

-1 It really isn't what I would call a BL, but it's listed everywhere as one

YESS! What a beautiful, emotional rollercoaster of a movie! It was realistic, and I really appreciated that, because you don't see realism in a BL movie very often. It deals with problems, pressures, and realities, which I feel that homosexuals often encounter in real life, due to societal "standards". It's brilliant to bring this into a movie! Especially with a country like Japan. This is such a breath of fresh air.
This is not a "fun" or "funny" movie. It deals with serious matters. But it's still hella worth a watch!
The acting was ALMOST flawless. The little girl played her role amazingly well. Nagisa's role was played well. But Shun was a complete bore, imo. Shun's personality is non-existent throughout this movie. It was difficult to connect with such a bland character. I feel like the person who really pulled the movie along was NOT the main couple, but the little girl.
Overall, a great movie from Japan!!

Unique and powerful BL

Let me start off by saying that this is a really unique BL movie. It's sci-fi theme, but it handles a more realistic not-so-fairytale romantic situation.
I thought that the story was absolute gold. It has a deeper meaning to it. "Can love be replaced?" is the question you ask yourself while watching this movie. I think it was very powerful, in this deeper sense.
The cinematography was really well-done, and it was almost artistic at some points, in my opinion.
The actors were great! I saw nothing lacking here.
I definitely would give this movie a shot. It brings you through many different thoughts and emotions towards a bumpy relationship.

AMAZING!

Wow!! I loved this drama so much!!
Please note, I did not look at the webtoon, I didn't even know about it. I'm fresh eyes.

Acting: The acting was absolutely perfect! Every actor/actress did their role so well, I felt every emotion and could really step into their shoes.

Story: The story, overall, is really good! I was hooked. My eyes were basically glued to the screen, and at some moments, I actually had my eyes wide open, while grasping my mouth in shock.
The theme of monsters VS humans is really intriguing, because of the way this movie took it. It's not just "bad monsters" vs "good guys". It goes soooo much deeper than that. I absolutely love that dynamic.
Some characters are well-developed. Some art not. But the most important ones-- you can clearly see the changes.
I do have to say, though, that some parts are not explained fully clearly enough, and were so sudden/out there, that I often had to rewind a bit.

Music: LOL I don't know who picked the music, but honestly, some of the music was really random/out of place, and did not fit the scene at all. It felt like I was watching a normal quiet movie scene, but some kid was playing music near me.

Effects: I LOVE the special effects, makeup, ALL OF IT!!! Wow!!! Especially one creepy scene in episode 10, I replayed it, because it was so EPIC and so dang aesthetic. As an artist, I was screaming!

I'm amazed that I was able to watch this without pausing or being bored. I guess I found it so poorly executed that it was interesting/laughable.
The biggest problem for me was the under-developed story. The relationship jumps from disgust to love way too quickly. It's like I missed a big chunk in the middle. If there was that middle part of real development, it could have been an amazing story.
The relationship in this movie is very...creepy. I wouldn't call it love, but more like infatuation or perverted. Some people like that type of fanservice stuff, but I wanted to see a real connection and a real relationship development.
The acting was so-so. It seemed a bit forced.

I feel like this type of storyline really could have went somewhere. I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that it was very superficial and did not dig deep at all. But I still watched it all, somehow. I think I was only kept interested by the fact that I was cringing A LOT.

Props to the music, though! They used a lot of GRIEVA, which is a band that I used to listen to a lot in middle school! I'm a bit biased with that part, lol.

AAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I usually never binge shows like I'm binging this one! Everything about this drama is amazing. The beautiful scenery is just amazing, it takes you to a fantasy China world, and you can really feel like you're there.
The story is so captivating. Although I have to admit that the start of this show was a bit bumpy/hard to understand, by around episode 10 I was completely hooked and wanting to find out more. There is so much mystery, so much "Why did this happen?". They reveal things not too much, but not too little. I'm always wanting to watch more and find out more.
The main characters are to die for. They're people you can cheer for. Their personalities are unique. They have their own quirks. The character relationships are deep, it makes you attached to them even more.
The actors and actresses are all so good! They portray emotion so well, stick to their role so well. They are able to move you.

This is the best Asian drama I've ever watched, and I'm not just saying that!

Yes, Wen Ning's personality changed a little from The Untamed, but to be honest, it wasn't so dramatic that I didn't know who Wen Ning was anymore. It's almost like Wen Ning has just matured, which is expected. I still recognized his character.
As for the story, wow! Blown away! Just like the drama, this spin-off movie had a really good supernatural story to go with it. There was even a huge twist that I didn't see coming! My attention was kept throughout the whole movie. I really liked it. And the acting was amazing!
You should watch The Untamed or read Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation before watching this, so that you know Wen Ning and Lan Shizui's background. Their characters are not further developed in this movie. You just have to know who they are.

Medicore at best

Well. Let me start off by saying that if you're also a person with ADHD, welcome to the daydream club! You will find that this movie is very slow. Everything about it is slow. The scenes drag on for too long, without much happening. One moment, you'll just see Pharm cry. And cry. And cry. And dream. And cry. I had a really hard time keeping my focus, because not much really goes on. And when the main couple has a scene, it's often just very emotional, and quiet, for a long time.
I really wanted to like this. The actor that plays Pharm is really good! The characters are very likeable. The whole atmosphere is very wholesome. It's just really dragged out, and it's been too difficult for me to watch it because of that.
I wish they did more with the reincarnation theme. You know, there's a lot of space for creativity with that theme! But it was just a bit bland, how they decided to do it.
