So many things of this drama reminds me of Samsung, like Park ji hyun's character who looks so much like Lee Boo jin, Samsung's oldest daughter. So funny, I wonder if that was on purpose.
I have to be honest here, and this is just my opinion, but I find both men in the show sooo terrible written.…
I beg to differ. Watching KYG reminded me of a boss I used to work for. Did he have the brilliant skills to make his company the top of its game? Definitely. Did he have good social skills? In business related conversations, yes. Otherwise, no. Saw him try to show active concern to some of his employees, he looked awkward doing so. Like he wanted to, but can't find the right words to do so and said what he wanted to express in a concise summarized way lol. But when his toddler came to visit him, you could see the warm, sincere affection in his quiet behaviour. Funny (not in the humorous kind of funny) similarity was that he, too, eventually chose his mistress over his first wife. I also honestly can't see him being able to verbally express more on emotions than "I miss you". I think the actor who portrayed KYG did a great job at acting out the inner turmoil through his facial expressions and body language, and with much difficulty spilling out his emotions in the heat of the moment. Which is how I see my ex-boss dealing with his emotions as well. Rational, capable, intellectual and often in his head about the technical going ons in his company. But emotionally expressive? In a quiet but more deliberate and not too many words kind of way, yes.
My two cents here on how the characters are written out. I find really well written. If anyone here is acquainted with MBTI, they'll recognize some of the characters' type portrayed here. Sure KYK doesn't seem to have much script other than the repeated "I miss you". But I think it's a brilliant portrayal of an INTP character who's not that verbally expressive especially when it comes to emotions, but does manage to show his turbulent emotions by his body language. His decisions and behavior show the conflict between his feelings which had been mostly suppressed in his life, and his dominant rationality. So Ra being (an unhealthy version of ) an ESTJ was obvious from the first two episodes. Caring a bit too much about being able to one up her in-laws and pretty much everyone else. Also, not being able to really self-reflect and do the homework Ra El told her to. "Why is this happening to me?" is a way too complex and therefore useless question for unhealthy ESTJs, as considering how others might feel isn't something that comes naturally to them. But their practical rationality helps them to develop what skills needed and to find shortcuts to achieve their goals. Ra El is an amazing portrayal of an INFJ who has gone beserk (and also has the energy to do so lol). Her insight into people's psyche and behaviour and her patience helps her in manipulating other's in her quest for vengeance. I'd write more, but I'd be ranting. Still, as far as I know about the MBTI I have yet to see any of the main characters going out of character.
