just to inform, this one even though is a traditional wuxia, but it is one of the most unusual Gu Long's work, the novel contains many comedy, chit-chat, conversation, explanation about the 4 main heroes background and characteristic, and less fight, less main story. i am sure 100% the producer will change a lot the script, because if you read the novel, you will know how hard it is if adapted into drama.

there are 5 parts in this drama, 4 spin-off, and 1 is the main story (about guo jing & huang rong). the first part which tell the story of ouyang feng and huang yaoshi is never been mentioned even in the novel at all, so it is totally spin-off. the 2nd, 3rd, 4th part are mentioned briefly a few paragraph in novel, with that information, the producers improvise the story themselves. for example: the 2nd parts which tell the story of southern emperor and hong qigong, it's about Yinggu who is the concubine of Dali kingdom, but cheating with zhou botong, and later the hatred arises after the emperor duan refuse to save baby. emperor duan later feel guilty, nearly suicide, but after think that no one can stop Ouyang Feng after his death, then he is planning to inherit his martial skill to Hong Qigong. the 3rd part is about The Quadruple Love in peach blossom island, among Huang Yaoshi, Mei Chaofeng, Qu Lingfeng, and Chen Xuanfeng. Later HYS kicked out 4 of his disciples, also Mei and Chen stole the 9 yin scripture, learned it in a wrong way/method, chased by wulin people, etc etc the 4th part is about the first huashan sword tournament, which we know the contest among 5 The Greats, and lasted for 7 days and 7 nights. the Novel didnt mention how the fight is like, is it 1 on 1 using groupstage format, or all of them in one arena (battle royale format) or whatever format.
