I think anyone who has at least heard of blackpink would be interested to see how the leader of the groups first drama will be. That in itself is hype, no need for marketing materials or promotion when jisoo's name alone would cause this kind of frenzy.
I don't know how this whole entire thing turned into let's hate on NDS unnecessarily and ignore any of the character…
HJP had plenty of flaws on his own, but because he showed a lot of remorse, had a genuine relationship with Grandma, and in the end, became selfless, a lot of it was easier to forgive. Plus HJP has been trying to be a better person for a majority of the show. And we often see him struggle versus doing the selfish thing that benefits him, and doing the right thing, where the right thing often wins out in his heart to his detriment.
NDS on the other hand, hasn't done much to get people to forgive his previous errors. He only starts to get it on the last episode, where he started to act more mature, but it was already too late, as most people had already disliked his character by then.
So I finally got around to watching Start-Up yesterday and to be honest I think the hate has more to do with the…
The petal falling on NDS being the major reason why NDS and SDM should end up together, while ignoring all the other signs, should not be the case. Also NDS, may have been honest with his feelings, but he lied about pretty much everything else, while HJP was also honest with his feelings, and refused to continue lying to SDM. As has been discussed several times in these section already, there is not that many reasons why NDS and SDM should end up together, considering they have a co-dependent relationship, and NDS imposter syndrome is never addressed.
People supported HJP, mostly because he presented a stronger, more relatable Main Lead option for a lot of people. The writer did not help NDS in this regard, as she made, and gave HJP much better backstory, scenes, and characterization than NDS, only opting to try to fix this in the later episodes. By that time, it was a bit too late, as more people had fallen for HJP by then.
And, there bears the tragedy of the SL, because he moves a bit too slow, he loses the girl. But that's quite a depressing ideology that should really be stopped being shown in Kdrama, because it sends the message that, "you snooze, you lose" mantra. But forgets the understanding, that a lot of people are not afforded the life of NDS, where he rarely is punished for his missteps, where there is always luck, and HJP to catch him when he fails. In real life, most people don't seize the moment or YOLO everyday, because frankly, we are more conservative, and lack the safety blanket afforded NDS. Thus HJP, with this so called "slowness" becomes more relatable to us.
The age difference of HJP and SDM is probably no more than 6 years, if not less. Young SDM was at least 13-15 years old, while young HJP was clearly 18.
You can go ahead and rate all 10's if you want, a lot of people are already doing that anyway, one more all 10 rating won't change things :)))
just watch this drama rated very low there will be so many hate comments against the main female lead hater will…
The thing is, when a Drama is hyped like this, the same way TKEM was hyped, the chances of the Kdrama satisfying the hype surrounding it becomes exceedingly hard, especially if the drama just proves to be average in terms of quality.
So people who are not hardcore blink fans will criticize and comment normally. And those people will no doubt be attacked by the hardcore stans.
It's like that in most comment sections that contains a popular Hallyu star, and Snowdrop will not be any different.
To keep the toxicity for the show low, Snow Drop would need to actually be an amazing show, that destroys expectations and catches the heart of the nation, otherwise, the critics will come enmasse both internationally and domestically.
A popular writer, and a popular cast is not guaranteed success anymore in SK. Case in point, look at Start Up, with 2 hallyu stars, that barely got 5% viewership ratings in Korea.
I think for the most part, there will always be someone better for any role, because there are tons of great actors/actresses…
Actually, i'm a fan of Black Pink, not a hardcore fan though. Out of the four members, my preference is Lisa, but I like the other members well enough. I don't actually dislike Jisoo, but people think I do because I criticize her, and in MDL criticism = hate apparently.
Some people on this comment section can't take even the slightest of criticism on Jisoo, which is pretty endemic of a problem in MDL, regardless of which show it is, there will alwas be fans like that, so I'm pretty used to it.
I don't care whether Jisoo was casted in the main lead or role, or there were people better and etc... It doesn't affect my life at all. I just like giving my opinions, it's been that way ever since I joined MDL. I have strong opinions, and I like sharing it in an anonymous public setting. And as i've stated several times, in several comment sections, and to several people, my opinions do change, and are not set in stone.
Idols getting hype in Kdrama has been happening for a while as far as I know. As soon as a big Kpop star or maybe even a moderately known one starts in their first drama, there is all this hype and expectation.
Stanning, and hardcore fans, have been part of Kdrama for a while. I've seen many kdrama where the fans were not so hardcore, and the show was appreciated for the plot. Then i've also seen shows, where the plot was horrible, but the hardcore fans of the actors/actress made the show more unbearable with their stanning. It's just life in kdrama, the more god status the actor/actress, the more unbearable the stans are.
That's the thing about the stans i've talked to in the comment section I don't get, I literally said i've formed an opinion that can change when the drama starts, but it's not enough, I need to worship the ground she walks on now, which is kind of ridiculous to me.
Like I said, I can imagine the toxicity, and stanning on this comment section will be epic. I'm pretty sure, when the drama airs, and the show ends up possibly being not the best, every single criticism will be attacked by a hundred Jisoo only fans. I mean even now, I can see this has become a Jisoo fan page.
I feel bad for Yoo In Na, a lifetime of almost all secondary or supporting leads. She's pretty though!
I did watch Goblin, and I thought she did quite well in it. If memory serves me right, quite a few people preferred the pairing of the SL couple, and they even got a drama with the two of them in it called Touch Your Heart.
TYH had lee dong wook as the ML, I think that was pretty good no?
I mean, I think she does well in the villain role, hope for good things for her.
-Dalmi not choosing to fulfill Dad's dreams of food business. She'd rock with her own Korean Uber-Eats! I mean,…
Actually you make a good point. She has worked with her grandmother since she was young in her corn dog truck, she is familiar with the concept her father made, how come, for someone like SDM who is suppose to be super great with ideas, she never considered an uber eats type of business? But instead creates a Tesla inspired concept instead.
To be fair, winning the audition for the FL, and doing well in the role are two different things. There are actors/actresses…
Fair enough.
It's my pre-drama opinion, which can certainly change if she performs well.
We don't know what kind of politics happens in Kdrama world, but I do know scandals abound in the industry, with the few that I see leak out. I mean just look at hollywood, there are tons of casting scandals, production scandals, writing scandals, and etc... I'm pretty sure Korea's kdrama industry is not immune to any of this.
We can assume a lot of things that happen behind the scenes, but in the end it's all assumptions. You can be right, I can be right, or we can both be wrong. That's the thing a bout opinions, they are very subjective, and should not be treated as fact.
Hello ma'am. 1) You can't act in a documentary because it's a damn documentary2) the plotline is based on a real…
So your equating me saying that Jisoo's acting is a bit stiff, is the same as murdering and punching someone in the face? Ummm.... ok.
For me, in a subconscious level at least, everyone judges everyone else. It's unavoidable human nature.
Yes, I can pre-judge someone before he/she shows her talent. It's like any other rookie actor/actress. What makes Jisoo immune to criticism? I have made these same opinions on other actors/actresses, not like i'm singling out Jisoo. I have no evidence she'll be a bad actor, other than what I saw in the documentary, but you also have no evidence she'll be a good one. So what's the argument here? that you don't like my opinion? Is that it?
Yes, I don't think voicing out my opinion is wrong.
I commented on Jisoo, because I actually don't know the other actors/actress other than Yoon In Na. Plus Jisoo is suppose to be the headliner, so of course I will talk about her.
I'm a bit surprised at how hard your coming at me, LOL! I get it your a Jisoo fan, but try to restrain your fanboying, I respond to you out of respect more than anything, because I don't feel your a troll, but your certainly moving pretty close to that line.
Ugly people deserves this.I hate people with mental illness. After reading these lines,I realised that oh this…
Oh wait, there are more comments? I just read this one, now I have to go look, LOL! I mean if he's satiring HJP fans, then it's missing the mark, as HJP fans are never that extreme.
Yeah, he's definitely a Dosan Stan who took the sarcasm route to the extreme to point out the delusion of HJP fans. But whatever, it's semi-entertaining.
I feel bad for Yoo In Na, a lifetime of almost all secondary or supporting leads. She's pretty though!
Yoo In na is already 39 this year, so she can certainly have a sort of renaissance in terms of more mature roles, but for her to shift to getting larger roles and being mainstream may be difficult when she belongs to a generation with tons of amazing actresses at that age as well, Gong Hyo Jin, Son Ye Jin, Jung Ji Hyun, and Jung Yu Mi just to name a few.
I think for the most part, there will always be someone better for any role, because there are tons of great actors/actresses…
Ahhh, is that the case? Thank you for correcting me, yes I am not familiar with JTBC dramas, and I'll take your word for it.
I still believe the casting of Jisoo is mostly for the hype it brings. Especially since I heard Netflix will be picking this up as well. And debuting on Netflix is the best way to get international recognition IMO.
I think for the most part, there will always be someone better for any role, because there are tons of great actors/actresses…
Oh, this isn't TVN?
Still same formula I feel for most cable companies. Because to get a larger market share of a highly competitive industry, casting well known or hyped actors/actresses is safer than trying to use amateur writer, and rookie cast.
I think JTBC is also the second largest cable company after TVN.
I feel bad for Yoo In Na, a lifetime of almost all secondary or supporting leads. She's pretty though!
I don't recall many Kdramas having tragic endings anymore. I guess it's no longer popular to have the main characters die or not get a happy ending, and it definitely will not appeal to the western audiences.
But yeah, I have a feeling she is going the villain route here, for some reason I can't explain, LOL!
I'm hoping this drama doesn't have a love triangle, I've gotten tired of those.
Because I know your post history, I know this is meant as sarcastic, but rather than humorous, it just comes as…
Well, with Covid-19, the cost of flights now to SK is quite high right now, I believe they are reducing the frequency of flights, driving up the prices as well.
Plus there is this new strain from UK that is making trips around the world. So unfortunately, it's the best we can do at the moment in this pandemic.
As much as I want to support your passion, safety first right?
