You do know that the actors Suzy and NJH both in an interview admit that they do not agree with NDS's character right? Just wondering if you knew this...

The dislike for NDS and the main couple, have been backed up by examples from the show and personal opinions. People are not criticizing for the sake of it. You can read my review, and I talk about it all in great detail.

Recently there have been people making new accounts rating the show 1/10, or 10/10, so you should ignore those reviews, and only read the ones that are from people who didn't just make new accounts.

Both male leads have their flaw, and I think most HJP fans understand that HJP is also a flawed characters. But most complex characters are. In terms of manipulations, you can go ahead and list all of the manipulative things HJP does, and I bet I can write more manipulative things that NDS has done. Should we start this contest to prove who has been more manipulative? Not that it really matters, since the show is done. But if you wanted, I would oblige.

You think people are proud to skip scenes? Maybe you think about the logic of it. People are watching a show, and willing to miss important scenes, and they are proud of it? If anything, this just shows how fans absolutely disliked NDS character so much, that they are willing to miss certain important scenes just to not see his face or his scenes.

I'm only on MDL, and the HJP fans here have been quite tame, and don't attack the actors themselves. If anything, the NDS fans have been quite aggressive, personally attacks other posters, and are projectionist.

People are giving a bad rating, because the show is not great. At least the ones in MDL are doing it. How others act on twitter or facebook or other social media, I cannot comment on.

If you are displeased with how the show you love is being received, maybe look deeper into where the show went wrong? You are aware that this show only ranked 5% ratings in Korea, while the show that came before it, Record of Youth is ranking at 10% ratings. So maybe, do you think it's possible that this show was just not that good? Or are we going to say Koreans forcefully didn't watch start up because of a ship as well?

If anything, maybe channel sound of your frustrations on the weak writing, subpar acting by the leads, and numerous plot holes?

I think a lot of women, myself included, could not romanticize, nor normalize the actions of NDS in the show. And we felt bad that SDM did not see half the obsessive things NDS was doing.

In the latter half of the show, SDM was no longer an innocent, as she herself became a victim to inconsistent writing and her character basically fell of a cliff.

So with a weak male lead, and a newly weak female lead, I think a lot of fans, HJP fans or otherwise was ok to see SDM and NDS end up together, due to their level of immaturity and entitlement.

They were just looking for a semi-happy ending of HJP, which did not materialize in the end. But regardless of HJP's sad ending, the show had enough problems on it's own, to merit a lower rating.

I can't speak for twitter, facebook and other social media platforms, but the HJP fans on MDL are quite mature.

Well, I'm not sure if the drama is worth it, I've explained this in my review. But yes, people should watch at least the first few episodes, because they are really quite well done. The quality of the writing drops of after episode 6.

Obviously you've not read the reviews, as you don't know the major things HJP fans are griping about.

And you are talking about the stupid hate, yet you make a post like this? Kind of hypocritic don't you think?

If you'd like to take down the aggression towards other fans a few hundred notches, then maybe some rationale can come through. But if you want to further spew hate, and fan flames that aren't there, that is your prerogative, I see a lot of those these type of commenters here anyway.

Park hye run's drama has caught us all by surprise. After being invested in the main lead for 6 episodes, an ending where the second lead NDS gets the girl is pretty groundbreaking.

Reply 1988 and Start Up are the only shows i know where the FL ends with the second lead.

Are there other shows?

Yes absolutely! there is a part that will get a bit tiring, but overall I loved it! I rewatched it twice now :)

Jo Jung Suk and Gong Hyo Jin are amazing actors with great chemistry!

The first six episodes deserve the 9 rating. The remaining 10 episodes did not. So that is what we are seeing.

No, the ratings didn't drop because of HJP fans. I've written a review, and i'm laid out the many reasons. If you admit everyone should have their own ratings choice, why is it unfair when HJP is not the sole reason the rating is rated low.

There wasn't much creativity in the show. It was highly predictable after episode 7. In fact, the prediction I made on the plot was at least 75% accurate.

For some viewers, emotions, thrill, positive energy and etc.. are replaced by frustration, annoyance, and negative sentiments.

Yes, a lot of dramas have it, but a lot of them also do it a lot better, and end it much much sooner. Although the main couple do end up together a majority of the time, there are some shows where the second lead does get the girl, which some fans were hopeful for.

The backstory is just one reason, I've written before a detailed response on why people empathize with HJP more.

By ep. 15 and 16, yes SDM's intentions were clear. And yes the OST is good.

There have been many shows that billed four main leads, and actually delivered. Start Up, should have only had 2 main leads and HJP and WIJ are supporting characters due to how little their screen times is. For fans of Kang Hanna or Kim Seon Ho who wanted to see more of them in the show were disappointed by their limited screen time. So it's a fair justification.

If you liked the show, and some other people didn't like it, using your own words "So what"?

If more people didn't' like NJH and you did, once again "So what"?

I can't watch anything with ghost or anything in it. I get scared too easily.

Yeah, NJH fans can be bad, but they've been manageable in the comment section for the most part. LMH fans are on a whole different level :)

I'll always thank Start Up for letting KSH be acknowledge for the amazing actor he is.

Also as a reply to your other comment. I'm not looking for more SLS or love triangle hahaha, so maybe no reply series for me for a while.

I can't speak for TOTNT but the MAJOR reasons people were rooting for HJP's characters.

1. Fleshed out backstory for the SL.
2. FL has the same facial expression when looking at ML and SL.
3. The writer placed too many metaphors and symbolism that ended up being worth nothing.
4. The FL's characterization in the early half of episodes fit with the SL more.
5. ML was unlikeable, and immature, making it easier to root for SL.
6. SL is more selfless than ML.
7. Writer basically made the life of the SL very difficult which illicit sympathy from the viewers.

So in the end, a lot of the issues seems to more a writing issue than anything.

HJP mentioned in an interview I think that he was given the script in batches. So he didn't know how his character arc would go. And in fairness the first few episodes were written well, so after reading the preview episodes, i'm not surprised he signed. Had he read the whole 16 episode script, he may have thought twice. But he owned the role anyway :)

i've gotten pretty spoiled with netflix, I don't really want to watch kdrama anywhere but.

I was going to watch TWOTM but my friend told me it was very heavy.

Not sure if the rumors of production companies being pressured by agencies are true or not.

Yeah in MDL I think 8.5-8.9 are considered amazing. 9+ are exceptional, and 7-8 are considered bad.
