now its 73%...look at the comments on the poll... almost 90% comments are for HJP... even indians love him...
Oh, i'm not familiar with bollywood so much, so I didn't know they are B-list wives. But the wives are so pretty, good genes I think. And their friendship seems so endearing.
I also finished watching Indian Matchmaker, which I also thought was nice.
How come the reviews are bad? Not accurate?
Ok, i'll check it out. How about reality TV that are indian? I'm always curious about life in India.
But when HJP does good, he doesn't go out and take credit for it. Best example is when he tells chairman Yoon about it, SDM possibly being the sandbox girl. Which interestingly SDM never finds out about.
When NDS does good, either he, or someone shouts it from the rafters. Best example is noon gil, He has to tell HJP and SDM he only did it for grandma. Not so selfless, if your looking for credit I don't think.
Second leads are always a little bit too late, wrong place at the wrong time.
Second leads typically have trouble expressing their emotions to the girl which makes them lose their chances.
For a man like HJP, who seems to really believe the super natural things like Yong Sil's fortunes and ancestor lady, I think he will finally have an epiphany and break out of his second lead mold. Instead of letting fate decide, he will attempt to control his destiny and confront SDM.
Will he succeed? Who knows, but seeing a second lead, not play dead and let the ML walk all over him will be refreshing to say the least.
Interesting point, I wanted to add my own thoughts if you don't mind. It's going to be a semi-long response, I…
3 years WITH CONTACT, I can imagine, as I know a few people who made LDR work. But three years without contact, and with HJP on the wings, so unrealistic.
All it does is make SDM more of the bad guy for not making it clear to HJP. I was annoyed in Ep. 14, HJP gave SDM a clear signal, and SDM KNOWS she is leading HJP on, she even say "that's why I didn't want to tell you". So unfair to lead a guy on for so long, especially one as nice as HJP.
Interesting point, I wanted to add my own thoughts if you don't mind. It's going to be a semi-long response, I…
Yes, your right, it's all the immature people in the show, SST, WIJ Stepbrother and Father, SDM and NDS.
Like when you listen to Chairman Yoon talk, you can tell she rarely if ever lets emotion take over, similar to Alex. These are both two strong characters.
I think WIJ is starting to crack though, but for now, she's a rock!
Interesting point, I wanted to add my own thoughts if you don't mind. It's going to be a semi-long response, I…
That's why I like western shows as well. When they tackle legal, medical, and science, they actually research it quite well, and I always learn something new after watching these type of shows.
I just want Kdrama to stop with all the cringy romantic scenes, it's 2020 now, people want more realistic show of affections.
Interesting point, I wanted to add my own thoughts if you don't mind. It's going to be a semi-long response, I…
Interestingly, she makes the same mistake as NDS and makes beating WIJ her dream. It's what drives almost all her decisions, which is kind of sad. It was a one sided rivalry for a majority of the show.
I kind of feel, without WIJ, SDM would not be as ambitious, and would have been content working at that cafe shop. WIJ brought out the competitive nature of SDM.
If Dalmi was written as the FL having stronger will than a boy chaser( LOL!) i would have loved to see Shin hye…
Yes, I never understood what was so unique as NDS in a male lead role. Maybe if they fleshed out the fact that people keep depending on him, and he hasn't a had a chance to chase his own dreams, it would have been better.
I've been thinking about that one, but I'm just not a fan of Go Kyung Po. Something about his face doesn't' scream male lead to me. Plus I didn't like his character in Dare to Dream.
I just started Welcome to Waikiki 2, KSH is so hilarious so far.
DS and DM are really each other’s swing and sandbox. The biggest example here is TARZAN the self-driving car.…
Interesting point, I wanted to add my own thoughts if you don't mind. It's going to be a semi-long response, I hope you read it all!
But first, let us revisit the meaning of the Sandbox. The reason playgrounds have sandboxes below the swing is to prevent the person/business from hurting themselves when they fall. Why is this important? Well you see, when a Start-Up opens up in some office or some home garage, the founders typically use their money to fund their start-up. What this means, due to the nature of start-ups, many of these businesses fail, and the founders end up being bankrupt, and some of them go even choose to hurt themselves. So often times, these start-ups knowing the nature of the industry will opt for more safer ideas. They will enter tried and tested industries, where they see some room for improvements. Now, that's not to say that there aren't more riskier start-ups out there, of course there is, but majority of these start-ups will opt for the safer route.
Now where does Sandbox the company come in? You see, if you can convince the Sandbox investors that your companies is worth investing in, the money to fund your business in the early stages will come from Sandbox itself. I am sure in real life incubators, the company Sandbox gets a certain percentage, but this is not shown in the show.
Now, why is this important? As I mentioned before, if you open a Start-Up outside sandbox, and you have no real guarantors except yourself, you have more limitations on your companies creativity. What does this mean? This means if you are only able to create Type A, B, and C type of companies outside Sandbox, within sandbox the option for Type D, E, F and G suddenly open up. Your company can take more risk, and in chance your company fails, you will not be facing a huge debt and can in essence pick yourself up and try again, because the company cushions your fall.
This is similar to a Sandbox in a playground. As a child, you can stand on the swing, swing as high as the eye can see, and do all sort of crazy tricks on the swing, because you know, at the end of the day, if you fall it will be cushioned by the sand.
Now if a playground did not have any sort of sandbox cushioning the fall, the parent would not leave the child alone, the parent will hold the swing tight, and maybe even use a six point harness to prevent the child from harming himself/herself. This will keep the child safe, but the freedom the child has will be constricted.
So you see, your example of Tarzan, the self driving car, pushing both NDS and SDM actually proves my point even more. Because both SDM and NDS allowed the other person to be their personal cage, both of them were not able to move on, both of them were not able to have freedom for other projects, and both of them did not get the opportunity to mature during the three year time skip.
After the three year time skip, we see both SDM and NDS are miserable, they allowed the image of their ex-gf/bf to dictate their future course of action. And when they eventually met up, it was destructive for both sides. This is not a sandbox, this is the result of two people who did not have freedom, who created self manifested cages that locked in their thoughts and action. It's a six point harness, where instead of pushing each other further, they instead each had a hand on each other swing's, subconsciously refusing to let the other person swing higher.
NDS coming to save the day, actually reverts SDM back to her pre-time skip self. A fact, she kind of admits. Even as HJP tries to push her forward, she keeps wanting to go backwards. Her backward regression to the old SDM is just the final nail on her character arc. A sad state for female empowerment that was missing in SDM's character unfortunately.
You are right though about one thing, they are both each other's comfort zone, and maybe that is the problem...
Did she really reach her dream? Was her dream to depend on someone else' dream? And is NDS dream still only really SDM until now?
If Dalmi was written as the FL having stronger will than a boy chaser( LOL!) i would have loved to see Shin hye…
HJP could then have been NDS mentor, who helps him realize how to be more corporate, more ruthless thinking this is what WIJ is looking for in a man, but then later realizes it's always been his geekyness.
Still keep the cyrano aspect in the sense that HJP is coaching NDS.
If they wanted to keep the love triangle, fine, but it's easier for audience to imagine WIJ falling more for NDS than HJP.
People keep saying oh startup isn't your typical Kdrama, it's not your typical script. Umm, everything about Start Up is so stereotypical.
If Dalmi was written as the FL having stronger will than a boy chaser( LOL!) i would have loved to see Shin hye…
Why the writer did not make WIJ the female lead is beyond me. The story would have been far more interesting with NDS geekiness, and softness helping WIJ with her coldness.
It's funny, Grandma told HJP not to tell SDM the truth about his feelings, because SDM has never looked happier, and is always smiling. And Grandma loved seeing that smile.
Ever since the three year time skip, the one making SDM smile these days has actually been HJP. And the one that is making her sad and cry is actually NDS.
or she could have written dosan and dalmi better and given more depth to their relationship...
The thing is HJP is kind of a jerk at times, but he has a heart of gold, and is selfless.
NDS on the other hand, started quite likeable, as the goofy guy. But they suddenly wanted him to be your typical Kdrama lead, complete with the wealth and the eternal angst. Plus NDS bad things outweigh his good side.
I have to hard agree on Jo Jung Suk, he would fit this role really well. HJP is a bit similar to his character…
IU is a better actress than Suzy from what i've seen. But both are not really that great to be honest. But yeah, I believe IU can pull off badass a lot better than Suzy has in Start Up. Half the time Suzy looks like Bambi.
I'm wondering more how one of those kid actress all grown up would fare.
I also finished watching Indian Matchmaker, which I also thought was nice.

But to be really technical, it is SDM's idea, and the SST just help flesh it out.
I've notice that is seems to be her role to say one sentence and like everyone actually makes it happen.
It's like SDM says. "I wonder if dogs can fly"
And suddenly SST creates a flying jetpack, and credits SDM as the inventor :)
Some of the business aspect on the show have been downright silly, but eh it's KDrama, they've never been great at researching facts.
I mean TKEM was just a mish mash of poor scientific and mathematical errors.
I've been thinking about that one, but I'm just not a fan of Go Kyung Po. Something about his face doesn't' scream male lead to me. Plus I didn't like his character in Dare to Dream.

Kim Yoo Jung or Kim So Hyun.
