I am so annoyed! Now even the ML was manipulated. I thought one character was the worst, but the more the show revealed, the more nasty another character turned out to be.
Regarding the murder, everybody is truly a suspect! The intrigue continues....although I did guess that someone who appeared to be good was not at all.
Had to take a break after ep 5....I knew it would be a sad journey but my heart still felt like it was punched. To know that they’re on an inevitable opposite course and that love does not always end the way we want it to end. Even after just 5 episodes, I can tell that this is a good show and is worth watching until the end. I just need to stop every now and then to dry my tears.
Yeah - I cannot stand CJJ - she is really quite crazy, she cheated repeatedly on her bf but still blackmailed…
I thought ZYQ and Dong were in a relationship, just did not make it official. I'll wait to see what surprise that relationship is! You're right - gamer boy was looking at the teddy bear so intensely that there must be something there, like you said, a camera. Can't wait to see what it recorded.
You know, I thought LMZ had a physical defect that prevented her from having sex with CZ. How the heck was she able to sleep with KK then?
I think she's the real baddie in the end, she was forever in ZYQ's shadow and now she is taking over the star role.
Yeah - I cannot stand CJJ - she is really quite crazy, she cheated repeatedly on her bf but still blackmailed…
I just finished ep 12 and I am floored! I guess WL thought that it was CJJ who killed ZYQ so that's what he meant by he would protect her. So he confessed to do that. Like you, I don't think CZ killed ZYQ . I don't think the Dong guy and WL would have hurt her either. I can imagine LMZ stabbing her or she was the one who bludgeoned her to death with that statue. Not sure about the gamer boy but I am really stumped by who could have raped her. LMZ is turning out to be so creepy - she is so protective of ZYQ but at the same time, she shows hate towards her too. Yeah, she's definitely trying to become a ZYQ clone.
OMG!!! I cannot stand CJJ! She is a Bonafide bitch! The way she treats WL. Now, she is holding him hostage in…
Yeah - I cannot stand CJJ - she is really quite crazy, she cheated repeatedly on her bf but still blackmailed him into staying with her. What I don't get is that like Wang Lei said, that is now how things went down. He should blackmail her back and call her bluff. Tell her to go show the photo proving that she also lied to the police.
I started today and binged up to episode 11. It's a very intriguing watch, and this is primarily character-driven. The synopsis is pretty spot-on. I get the sense that the women are the ultimate manipulators, and in the end, the men are led by their noses. There may be one or more murderers among the characters, but are these killers truly the villains? Is anyone really bad or good?
Right now, there is one character I dislike entirely, but she does have a get-out-of-jail card :(
The complex sub-story of the male lead, Zhao Shang also adds flavor to the show.
The show also did a good job with the background music—it was very fitting for the scenes and elevated the intended emotions.
For now, I am going along with the ride, not trying to guess who the murderer(s) may be since the character reveal and development are so interesting.
Warning - the subtitles on iQIYI are terrible. I guess they are machine-translated, and sometimes the meanings are completely opposite of what the subtitles are.
I liked this review. So far I'm enjoying it, and I'd prefer it without the murder mystery like a different setting…
I am glad that you're enjoying the show. I agree that the drama had enough going on without adding the murder mystery because, in the end, it was not as though all loose ends were tied nicely to the murder. The interactions between the leads were nice to watch, and I wish there were more, especially towards the end. The best part was all the scenes with the supporting characters that you highlighted. I liked the 2ML too; not the typical annoying type and he was supportive the whole time. Very unexpected for a character who was supposed to be an idol :D
It was an interesting concept, and this was a good watch. I agree with most that it did get a bit draggy.
I am ok with how the FL's secret was revealed over time and who found out first. I can also understand why the FL did what she did. Most of us don't reveal everything about ourselves to our loved ones in real life so why in dramaland should we expect the FL or ML to share everything, especially a secret so unbelievable? It makes sense if the FL wants to try to fix her problem first and on her own. Even after her issue was resolved, I also get why she chose to focus on and improve herself. She's practicing self-love.
That said, I did not like how the FL treated the ML towards the end. She could have been honest and let him know what she wanted to do. I feel that was not necessary and they could have given us more happy scenes instead of more drama.
I liked the 3 lead characters and I think the two FLs paired off well together. I started watching for Choi Jin Hyuk and even though his ML character was ok, I think he was downplayed a bit. The supporting characters especially the FL's parents, the investigator and the FL's best friend were great too.
The ending was convenient, but since the whole show required us to suspend our disbelief anyway, it was acceptable.
Watched up to ep 12 and so far it's enjoyable If you don't include the time for the opening and ending song and credit scenes, then each episode is slight over 30 minutes. So the pacing feels much faster than the usual lakorn and the story development not as deep. Still it is a good watch. I wonder if this lakorn will have only 20 episodes since there is a lot to wrap up in 8 episodes.
FYI this drama was filmed before Princess Royal. It probably took longer because of the CGI. But in general its…
Ah good to know. Either way, Princess Royal airing first may have been better for ZLH since I wouldn't be surprised if he got more fans after that show.
Those first episodes are some kind of misunderstanding tbh. The overall drama vibe is definitely different than…
Based on the teasers I've seen, I expected a more serious show so the first few episodes surprised me. Thanks for the heads up, I will prepare myself as well :)
OK, first two episodes were all over the place. I guess ZLH wanted something a little more silly after Princess Royal and SOKP. I'm gonna keep going because I like all the actors playing the main roles including Chang Long. Glad that he's getting more main roles.
Overall, a decent drama that relied more on great acting. No young handsome ML or FL known for their looks more than talent. Although I think Wang Li Kun is lovely and can act. Same for Elaine Zhong who was listed as a main role but did not appear much which was too bad. She certainly delivered the regal bearing expected of an empress. The mysteries were good and the way the ML solved the cases were well-thought out for the most part. He's not brilliant just because - the clues made sense. However, there were definite gaps which left me wondering about how and why someone was like that or something turned out the way it did. The romance was subtle, always there, threaded throughout the show and the development of this mature love is quite enjoyable. The story did feel dragged out and could have been reduced by a few episodes. There was one arc in particular that felt too long. In general, this was worth the watch for me but I think many might get bored.
Why would he do that? They only got together closer to the end. He’s curious about her daytime activities but it’s not like he can do anything else except for what he already promised her. He might be disappointed with her not trusting him with all her secrets but it would be out of character for him to leave her just because that. After all, her secret is pretty unbelievable
