I prefer the May-December romance and if everyone is supposed to die anyway, at least the viewers will have satisfying side romance.

Also yes absolutely ridiculous that a sword chose the girl for WXS. At that time, there were no signs of WXS being interested in WR. Just because she was a bumbling busybody who needed his rescue, he is now tied to her.
