I actually enjoyed the first two eps. It's been pretty light-hearted so far and I like the leads. The only thing that's already annoying me is that we're getting the same tired 2ML trope yet again. Hopefully it won't end up relying on all the same predictable rom-com clichés we've been seeing lately. But we'll see. The first two episodes were good.

Well, after 17 episodes, this basically feels like one of those short-form dramas. You kind of have to switch your brain off to enjoy it lol At this point, I'm only watching to see what happens after the time skip because the current storyline doesn't really engage me anymore ...

I’m having a bit of hard time getting into this drama because the central conflict feels so unnecessary?

If the FL just told the ML, "Hey, I want revenge on my horrible mother and I need money for my grandma hospital bills because my mom stole the money dad actually left me" he would literally join her revenge mission the next day 😭

That’s why I can’t really get emotionally invested in the angst or even in the plot? It feels like one of those plots where the writers are forcing conflict that could be resolved with a single honest conversation in 5 minutes.

And it seems like he already knows she's her daughter, which makes FL's secrecy make even less sense.

Am I the only one? lol

Well, K dramas at it again... what a messy, incoherent ending to an otherwise phenomenal show. Honestly, some of the theories people were coming up with on Twitter were better than what actually happened in that last episode 😂

But you know what? This drama brought me so much joy over the past few weeks that I'm not even that mad about the poorly written ending. They got their happy ending, even if the journey there made very little sense ...

What I do know is that this couple had me completely invested!! They were such a unique, hilarious, chaotic, romantic pair. It's so rare to find a couple that can carry the romance, the comedy, the melodrama and all the emotional moments so effortlessly. I've genuinely never seen another pairing quite like them.

And the acting! Not just the leads, but the entire cast was phenomenal. I'm especially happy the drama was so well received domestically because these actors absolutely deserve all the recognition they're getting.

I'm going to miss this couple so, so, so much. Honestly, I feel like a couple like this comes around once in a drama century ❤️

Seo Ri's way of speaking changed a lot after she woke up. She hardly uses a Joseon accent anymore. A few traces of it still come through in her tone and delivery, but her grammar and vocabulary sound almost entirely modern now ...

Title Dazzling Spoiler
I'm just starting ep. 27, but have to get this off my chest before continuing, because this writing choice annoyed me so much ...

The fact that they deliberately stayed out of touch to the point where she didn't even know Grandma had died and never attended the funeral was such a terrible writing choice! After everything they went through together, that felt completely out of character. It didn't fit the story, it didn't fit their relationship and it didn't fit who they had been established as.

It was one of those moments where you can practically see the writers forcing a situation purely for dramatic effect and I just hated that. As much as I've enjoyed this drama, this plot point really soured things for me because it simply made no sense.

And honestly, the ML's endless suffering throughout the entire freaking drama has become exhausting to watch. At some point it stops being emotional and just feels like the writers are being unreasonably sadistic.

Anyway... back to watching to finish this.

They're already dating. They just don't know it yet lol But seriously, all those direct indirect confessions, eye flirting, skinship and so on. You can't tell me they don't know they like each other.

That, and did you also have the feeling the writing has gotten more lax? I know i'm gonna share an unpopular opinion…
I totally agree! I can't quite put my finger on it, but yeah, I think mabye it's more than just the editing. Like you said, it feels as if they're struggling to weave all the different plotlines together. You're actually describing exactly what I've been feeling.

I'm also still really enjoying the drama and I absolutely love both the acting and the main couple. But at the same time, I'm starting to worry they'll lose their grip on the story in the second half. So many K-dramas nowadays start out strong and then lose momentum toward the end, and I'm slowly getting that feeling here as well...

Not nearly as badly as in some other recent dramas, but it feels like the story, themes and emotions have grown so big that the writing and editing are having trouble keeping everything balanced and cohesive >_<

I genuinely hope I'm wrong. There's still so much to love about this drama and I'm hoping they manage to pull everything together in the end. Even if the editing has been mediocre lately, the foundation is still strong enough that they could absolutely stick the landing. Let's be hopeful 💚

I'm in the middle of watching ep. 9 and had to come here to rant for a second...

Is it just me, or the editing really sucks in the last few episodes? Scenes keep getting cut off at random moments without any proper closure to that scene. If these were just light-hearted scenes okay... but the scenes are supposed to be impactful. It's so frustrating because it completely kills the buildup and the emotional impact those scenes are supposed to have.

I don't remember this being an issue in the first half of the drama, but since last week it's been bothering me more and more. At this point, it's genuinely affecting my enjoyment of the show.

I can't be the only one who feels this way, right?

Seriously, what are they doing to such a great drama with this kind of editing?

It’s so annoying coming to a drama’s thread to read commentaries about the drama, and then it’s filled with…
Hmm… your comment is quite hypocritical, don't u think? You’re criticizing people for “policing opinions” while simultaneously trying to police what people are allowed to comment about on the thread lol

A public forum also applies to discussions about ratings, audience reactions, fandom behavior and literally everything surrounding the drama.

By your own logic, people should also be free to comment on low ratings if they want to. Otherwise “people are allowed to express opinions” suddenly comes with conditions.

Finished ep. 14 and everyone is annoying and exhausting at this point. I mean I knew Li Zhen will have to encounter dozen of obstacles but at this time, let us breath for a bit, okay? This whole scheming by Ji and also Tian family is getting repetitive at this point. And it's no fun watching the same old thing.

I hate the whole Li family. The grandmother is as spineless as shameless the Ji family is. And not even her own grandfather is having her back. Well he's also spineless and a doormat at this point.

There is only a handful of characters I like at this point. And I definitely consider giving this drama a one-star rating if Li Zhen ever decides to reconcile with this fkn Li family. I don’t care if that sounds harsh lol The grandma and aunt may have their “nice” moments, but they still abandon her the second things become inconvenient. I want that Li family to rot in hell.

And honestly? The grandmother only started caring about Li Zhen again because she can make ink. Before that, she ignored them for years. In the end, she also just benefited from her talent.

Maybe I will let the episodes marinate a bit before continuing... :D

This was such a fun drama to binge watch. Totally entertaining and hilarious from start to finish. I’d honestly love a second season. They’re such oddballs, but somehow they make the perfect team :D

The rating is absurd... but oh well. I’m loving this drama! ❤️ I’m usually not even a fan of business…
alive... We never actually saw a body, so I’m staying delusional and hopeful 😭 His character made such a strong impression on me and his dynamic with Li Zhen is way too interesting to end like that. Also he definitely did Li Zhen a favour by preventing her marriage to that greedy bastard. Tian family is so shameless ...

I genuinely can’t wait for tomorrow’s episodes. I already regret starting this while it’s still airing :D

Just saw that the Luo family's story in this drama is based on the real story of the Luo family in Huizhou and…
Interesting! Can you explain bit more? I didn’t fully understand how the Luo family ended up being implicated because of the Yan clan. What exactly did the Yan clan do and why did it lead to the Luo family being targeted and killed because of it?

The rating is absurd... but oh well. I’m loving this drama! ❤️ I’m usually not even a fan of business dramas and tend to skip those parts just to get to the romance lol But this one hits different. The ink-making scenes and all the thoughtful, wise conversations are oddly calming and genuinely satisfying to watch. I also absolutely love the flashbacks to her childhood. The child actress is amazing as well!

Ep. 8 was SO good!! Li Zhen is definitely going to face even bigger obstacles moving forward, but I’m really excited to see how she overcomes them. And finally, she and Wen Qian met... even if just for 5 min lol I'm not so sure if he recognized her. He did, right? I seriously can’t wait until they start doing business together. He’s the merchant, she’s the ink goddess. Such a powerful duo already!

Also, I really hope Luo Wen Song is ...

um, I'm not surprised? I said "predictable" plot twist. And yes, it is cliché.

Luo Wen Song is such a character lol I love how the characters here are not one-dimensional. Not everyone is black…
... seeing that his character is only a guest role... I guess he will die soon T-T So sad, he's pretty interesting.
