Put this on hold 2 weeks ago... and according to recent comments it seemed this drama really has taken the route I've feared of. sigh... another drama I have to drop this year. Such a shame... I really liked it at first :/
I get how a lot of people don't like Jang Dong Hwa. He is quite annoying and a brat... but I must say he is a pretty realistic character. All the other Doldam characters are quite unrealistic "heroes" and highly passionate about their profession so that nothing else in their lives seem to matter. Their profession is their life! They seem to have no hobbies aside their job and they have inhumanely endurance, stamina and mental strength.
Jang Dong Hwa seems more "human" in that aspect. Aside from his rudeness, I totally get where he is coming from. He wants to have a life outside of that hospital. He wants a calmer and not as stressful life and I think everyone has the right to decide what they want from life. But it seems the Doldam people are slowly turning him into one of theirs đ The scene with him and Kim Sabu was hilarious! I love their dynamics a lot and I have to say, I enjoy Jang Dong Hwa's antics now.
The last two episodes were a disappointment. I really loved the main couple and they got like almost no screen time and such a bad written reason why they dragged their HE... and after they got together they were so cringe... Nothing what they were like before. Such a shame.
All other couples were kinda boring and lame to me til the end... No chemistry whatsoever with the other 3 couples. This drama or at least the main couple had really potential to be good... Well, still enjoyed it but can't really recommend it now.
Here is an edit I made for Tantai Jin and Li Su Su: https://youtu.be/KKc3CVsjuCI
I already follow you on YT, so I've seen your vid already. But I'm happy to see you here as well! Incredible edit like always! â¤ď¸ I've avoided fmvs right after the painful ending, but I'm slowly healing and can enjoy fmvs of TTEOTM again đ
I doubt that HS is the murderer. It's highly likely that the murderer is a character we haven't seen much around yet. We saw the Hee Seob's brother just one time, but he was still suspicious to me. I think he's my main suspect right now. And the mom recognized the person, so it's likely that she's still in contact with that person after 34 years, so I doubt it's a classmate, because she seemed to have no friends in the future. So if the murderer deceived them so long, it's likely someone close to them.
Am I the only one who doesn't feel any chemistry between Rang and mermaid girl? Their romance is so boring and cheesy đ The writers really don't know how to write romance stories... They should've just stayed solely with bromance this season. Rang had thousand times more chemistry with Yoo Ri in S1, even tho they were just friends. I'm kinda sad there is no Yoo Ri in this season, but just her face doppelganger... I loved Yoo Ri & Rang and Yoo Ri & Shin Joo combo so much.
I cried a lot this episode because of Dr. Jung In Su. He's a sunshine but when I saw him crying, I couldn't help…
Yes! The acting was so good! Especially when he was on the phone talking with the police about finding his daughter. He was already on the verge because of what happened to that young boy and it was heart-breaking how he tried hard not to cry and his voice broke down...Phenomenal acting!
It always saddens me when I can't get into a drama which is so high rated and full of praises. I want to like it so bad! But I just don't đ
I started to watch this drama a few days ago and finished part 1. I'm so underwhelmed, that I struggle to start part 2 now. I do like slow-paced dramas. So it's not the pace. And I do love character driven dramas, but I find the characters mostly boring, annoying or they don't really contribute anything to the story. I thought the romance would at least catch my attention because I'm such a sucker for good romance, but if I already find the mains boring during part 1, I don't think I'm gonna like them that much in part 2 either. Their built-up felt so unnatural and superficial to me. While I do see how Ling Buyi fell in love with her, I can't say the same about Shao Shang. The built up between Shao Shang and A'yao felt more natural, even tho they always felt like siblings rather than lovers, their relationship development felt more natural. Take away all those slow-motion scenes and romantic music, there is almost no chemistry between them. The dozen of convenient coincidental meetings, the eavesdropping, the number of times ML saved FL... their scenes felt so repetitive in part 1. It was just incredibly boring.
While Shao Shang's character can seem annoying sometimes, she is quite compelling and charming. She is still young, so I did like the immature and stubborn side of hers.
But I don't know what to think of Ling Buyi until now. I feel like I have seen his character thousand of times in dramas. Apart from Leo Wu's handsome face, there is nothing unique about Ling Buyi's character until now. He seems like every cold, but soft-hearted ML character out there. Leo Wu was quite charming and mesmerizing as Ashile Sun in TLB, so I know it's not his acting, but the character itself. I already didn't like how he tried to subtle pursue Shao Shang when she was already engaged, I felt he was highly out of line when he forced her into marriage in front of the majesty, which made me dislike him from that point forwards. Take away his handsome face and his MALE LEAD status, I bet everyone would throw hands at him! But he is the handsome ML which makes everything adorable and acceptable :')
While writing all this, I realized again I really seem to not click with the drama and most of its characters. I have too much to complain... Ahhh... I really wanted to like this. But because i already came this far, I will still start part 2. At least I like some characters and the love line between Qi Qi and Cheng Song is quite interesting. The acting is also really good... so maybe I will skip-watch part 2, so I don't feel like I wasted all my time.
I'm on ep 14 and her mother pisses me off so much. She's such a freakin hypocrite and verbal abusive with Niao Niao. Can't bear with it anymore... just want so slap her into another universe >_<
Okay, this is gonna be my very last rant before I move on from this drama and finally leave the comment section. But my thoughts keep me awake at night and I have to write them down so I can peacefully say goodbye (and sleep đ) Iâm already sorry for the lengthy comment!!!
First of all. I loved this drama and despite its flaws and being a victim of Chinese regulations, it will remain one of my favorites forever. It was the first Wuxia/Xianxia drama that I genuinely liked and finished without skipping a second. I tried to watch several of the high rated Wuxia or Xianxia dramas on MDL, but I don't why⌠I just couldnât get into them. Even tho I do love fantasy, I figured that the genre might just not be my cup of tea. I still tried some here and there. TTEOTM was one of those tries. The positive comment section and high rating made me curious so I started it on a whim when 12 episodes were aired. I was pleasantly surprised and of course, binge-watched all those episodes.
I didnât realize how much feelings I invested in this drama while watching, so at one point, it was almost unhealthy and affected my daily life, so I needed to take breaks in-between and touch some grass đ lol
â¨â¨Most of my feelings were invested in our ML. Tantai Jin.⨠He might be the biggest reason why I loved this drama so much. An absolutely captivating, mesmerizing and complex character which was beautifully portrayed by Luo Yunxi.â¨â¨
But gotta say, the writers sure knew how to make him pitiful. And I wish they DIDNâT. Heâs the most tragic and misunderstood character Iâve seen to date⌠And I think thatâs the reason that ending pierced through my heart and I canât say goodbye in peace. Not necessarily because he died, but because I feel an immense amount of unfairness and unjust for his character which keeps me awake at night.
â¨â¨I didnât read the novel, but as far as I know he was indeed evil in the novel while in my perception, he wasnât at all in the drama. I actually wish they wouldâve made him more evil or lessened his suffering, so that I wouldnât have such a hard time coping with the ending. Of course, he wasnât an angel, but the unjust suffering he got was incredibly excessive and sadistic of the writers. Compared to all the other characters, which were mostly hypocrites (including LSS), he was actually not that evil nor heartless.â¨â¨
Li Su Su⌠Li Su Su⌠I highly think the writers did her character dirty. While they softened TTJ too much, it made her seem absolutely cruel in comparison, which made me dislike her a lot of times. A lot of her actions made her seem like a hypocrite, which couldâve changed easily if the writers made her just a little bit more lenient towards the ML. Iâve really loved her as YXW in the beginning of mortal world, but afterwards they just made her unreasonable cruel.
â¨Like a lot of comments already stated⌠I also felt that this drama was more of a one-sided love, which makes TTJ even more pitiful and tragic.â¨
I know it was hard, because TTJ did everything possible to make her hate him in the last few episodes, but I wished LSS wouldâve believed and trusted him unconditionally AT LEAST in the end. That wouldâve eased my pain to 80%!!! But she didnât. Itâs actually sad that she had to turn into a goddess and master the heartless way to be able to fully believe and trust him⌠after everything they went through⌠What was the point of all the fights, reunions, forgiveness, confessions etc of them, if they never changed? The trust was NEVER there.â¨â¨
She spouted so many hateful words towards him, that I lost count how many times, he was pierced by her words⌠That lasted for 40 episodes straight⌠We never got a lengthy or honest conversation from her "Sorry for everything I said. I didnât mean it or I love you blablablaâ wouldâve been enough⌠But noâŚ"I still have a lot to say to you⌠well next time, when we meet againâ WTF was that? If the writers knew that they couldnât give us their reunion then that shouldâve been THE moment for her to talk. Why couldnât they show us, that she loved him as much as he loved her? Because she didnât. I really wish I couldâve felt her undying love for him, but I just didnât. And I solely blame the writers for that. They took the LSS from the novel but created a softened version of TTJ which wasn't even half as evil as the novel TTJ and that is why this relationship was so unbalanced and TTJ too pitiful.
There was just one single person, who never betrayed him, trust him and never doubted the good in him. And it was his Master from the immortal arc. Iâm so thankful for his character and it eases my pain a bit that TTJ had someone like him.â¨â¨
Itâs incredibly sad that TTJ was satisfied with the amount of little love he got from the people who were dear to him. TTJ had to convince himself that the people who betrayed him did love and care for him a little bit, so that he could win against his inner devil (pun intended).
â¨â¨He died as a selfless hero but will be remembered as the heartless devil god.. Sacrificed himself for a world which mostly hated and abused him without reason. And then he didnât even get his happy ending? That is just so sadistic⌠At least his unjust suffering finally ended and he looked at peace in the end, but the injustice I feel⌠Just too much to handle for my fragile heart.
Such a shame... I really liked it at first :/
