If you've followed him closely, he's been very vocal that he wants to do a romcom after The Red Sleeve. All his recent projects before KTL were serious ones. So, you can't really fault him if he got hooked on this one, especially with the humor that this script offers.

Even Hyun Bin from back then kinda announced publicly that he wants to star in a romcom after having a litany of serious projects, such move landed him Crash Landing On You.

I truly believe that King the Land got a very big budget, all thanks to the success of the Red Sleeve.

P.S. it was also refreshing how the King wasn't easily swayed by his Ministers and has good relationship, personally and politically, with the Queen. A real life partnership so to say.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the mom - children scenes and narrative of the drama, I just couldn't help myself but be disappointed about the core of this show--- the reason why it triggered all of this.

Nonetheless, this show is good. A peek at the lives of Joseon's royalty through the lenses of the Queen, which we haven't gotten yet, if I'm not mistaken.

With the rate of the appearances of that Nation's Mother, I won't be shocked if she's actually Gu Won's estranged mom.

Other notable one would be the classic Endless Love- Autumn in my Heart.
And not sure why but this show also reminds me of Tomorrow with You of Shin Min Ah, maybe because of the subdued tone.

Wok of Love is different from Rain or Shine (also known as "Just Between Lovers".
