I can understand dropping it because of FX's behaviour, his audacity really tests you and it feels so torturous for YSL. But if you do stay on to watch the rest, you will see that YSL is NOT the type to easily forgive and forget. He definitely wouldn't give in just because FX becomes "poor". I actually LOVED FX's "poor" arc. It's soo satisfying because of YSL's INDIFFERENCE towards FX (outwardly - he's not really indifferent on the inside, he's in pain 😭). No forgiveness for a long time.

Yess it’s so good because the power dynamic between FX and YSL keeps shifting!! In more dark BLs, the gong/ml usually completely dominates the mc and the power imbalance becomes tired quickly 🫩

Oh!! I definitely need to check out the BTS scenes 🥹 I’m missing them after finishing the novel..

The way I read through it was reading a couple of chapters and then re-watching the scene ☺️ made me appreciate the acting so much, it really reflects well!!

To anyone wanting to read the novel, I highly recommend it! The drama is almost a 1 to 1 recreation, it only deviates right at the end. They didn’t change anything but excluded some big scenes. If you don’t want to read through everything, I suggest just the tail end (where the drama left out scenes) and the extras!!! They are so healing and it gives so much more closure than the what-felt-like desperate hook up at the end of the drama 🥹. Spoiler: they get married!!! (in Thailand)
The novel was a lot better written than I expected (I have low writing standards after ABO desire 😭 ngl I ate that up regardless). The author has obviously thought through her characters a lot and the writing is deliberate and meaningful. They are also just as disgusted by FX as we are (but they are also very into it -FX being a ‘pervert’, in their words not mine - lol it’s quite funny seeing them scold themselves for making FX a terror). The translator for this novel is amazing.
Great source material, supported by a faithful script and fantastic acting. Really really good work.

The ppl in VIKI comments saying “Where is my Fan Xiao”, “I want a bf like FX” during the ‘redemption’ arc are insane because did we not just watch the same terror arc of him absolutely ruining YSL 😭😭 it’s so ridiculous it’s funny

i appreciate the relationship being subtle and mostly character-setting rather than being the focus of the show but i would also love a prequel about how they got together :p

I feel the same about the characters in kbls 🙁. I haven't been able to get into them because of this... However, an exception for me is 'Love for Love's Sake', I really liked the characters in this one and there's a good plot to it as well! Really recommend it if you haven't already tried ❤️

much more reminiscent of the older -early 2010s- saeguks than most coming out at this time 👍 (not claiming that all historical dramas should be aiming to replicate it but it's just very nice to see it). It's understandable that newer historical dramas are trying to attract a wider audience by including comedy or supernatural/fantasy elements but I've missed this 🥲

Yeah, I was shocked that the CP selection only ran across 3 episodes ( it really felt more like 2 wow) and crown princess being chosen in like 1 ep felt really quick (but it makes sense since the Queen and QD were both rooting for CH). I prefer this fast pace to older historical dramas though, I'm not losing interest at all despite watching it while it's ongoing! It's also the fact that the Queen is smarter and thinks ahead that we get to skip a lot of unnecessary drama. Go Queen!!
