It’s a fantastic drama, and still a very good ending. But honestly, this drama really needs another season. It is just too good to end here. This feels like only the beginning, to be honest. There is still so much character development left, and we want to see more of these characters. There are a lot of possibilities and storylines still left to explore.
I especially loved the main characterGu Xu & Lin Shuang, was absolutely fantastic in this role. She just nailed the character completely. Her performance was so poised, calm, smart, impactful, and incredibly authentic. She had such a strong yet subtle screen presence, and every scene with her felt meaningful.
. However, I have to be honest, I think Jenny Zhang who played Jiang Xi is a completely miscast. She couldn’t portray the character very well, especially the emotional transformation and the deeper layers of the role. It just didn’t fully land the way it should have.
And about the antagonist Wei Ming, that guy really pulled off such a brilliant character. You hate him from your bones, and that shows how well the actor performed the role. He was excellent.
Overall, this is such a wholesome drama, beautifully written, with strong performances and characters that make you want another season immediately. 8
After watching Episode 4: this is too good of an episode, I’m loving it. The music, the chemistry, the settings, the performances, the humor... wow, such a joy. The director and writer really know the game. I just hope the stakes grow bigger and bigger, so they are pushed closer together, which will make our hearts feel at peace watching them.p
After watching Episode 13: it’s a good drama, but the subtitles suck, they’re the worst. The screenplay is moving like a tortoise; it’s slow as hell. The supporting cast performances are weak and disappointing. Only the main cast—Zhang Xiaofei as Lin Shuang, Huang Xiaoming as Gu Xu, and Li Zefeng as Wei Ming, are superb. The rest feel too bad in comparison. And the biggest problem of it all is the pacing. I know it’s a drama, so things are meant to unfold steadily and calculatedly, and the character development is there. But you still can’t defend bad screenplay direction and editing.
It seems your mind, too, has gotten lost somewhere amidst the fight sequences of Bloodhounds. You have absolutely…
Don’t argue with a crass mind… she thinks only action and seriousness define a drama’s entertainment standard for the audience, as if that’s the only thing that should please and cater to them. Girl lives in a tiny world.
After watching Episode 8: first word- brilliant. This is the kind of drama where the research and authenticity are top-level; you can clearly feel the realism and the characters’ intellect, and it naturally grabs your attention. It’s a slow-burn poison, where things move carefully and deliberately. I’m loving the direction and performances, they’re truly fantastic.
The music is also very uniquely scored; it has its own identity compared to others. It deals with a wide range of emotions. Till now, for the most part, we’ve gone through struggles, harshness, and hardships, but even within that, there’s humor that prevents the drama from tipping into depression. That’s the genius of the maker.
I love how they don’t want it to be just sad and heavy, but rather about growth and resilience. So I’m enjoying it to the fullest and really loving the dynamics that have been established. I can’t wait to see how Ji Feng begins his work, the steps he takes to make it impactful and real, and how Xi Mi Yu will play a larger role in this.
Just one complaint, why only two episodes a day? It’s killing me. Joker’s part, I’ll write my other thoughts later. Till then, happy watching.
He’s just bad. And it’s a mystery how he’s getting roles of this magnitude, he doesn’t even deserve a…
Sorry to disappoint many, but I really don’t find him handsome. And yes, handsomeness in a drama is cool—they should cast visually appealing actors because that’s also a tick box for making a great drama. But at the same time, actors need to bring something to the table in terms of dialogue delivery and performance. The best example I can think of right now is Byeon Woo-seok. That’s what I’d call handsome with acting performance. He’s not a brilliant actor, but he’s good enough and has something to offer through his performance.
Just finished it: I loved it, this was brilliant. The way the action sequences were choreographed, I bow down to that and the director. It was just too, too good. The performances and the sound mix were all top-notch. I’ve just finished it, and I can’t stop thinking about A Shop for Killers Season 2, I don’t know why. But this IP and this series have really set a new standard for boxing-themed dramas in world cinema, tbh. Now I want to explore even more brutal and authentic ones, let’s keep more seasons coming, we want Season 3. And Woo Do-hwan, you’ve won a fan in me.
