I'm almost convinced that WeTV is releasing two different versions of the drama lol. I'm really confused at people calling ML a simp or a lovesick fool. I'm guessing they are watching a different version of the drama.
I think, because of cutting off six episodes from main drama . All of the boring scenes that are already cut down
You know, when this drama was announced, it was announced to be 50 episodes. They also shot for it to be 50 episodes. Then, because of the regulations, they cut it down to 46 episodes so that they can release it in 2 seasons. And then, again, more regulations caused the drama to cut down more on the episodes to make it a 40 episode drama. lol

I think the fact that we hate his character so much tells us that he was on point with his acting. He's done his job to perfection. How his character was written was not in his hands though.

I thought only in a few countries outside China didn't have the drama on the homepage recommendation (No, I'm not talking about Top 1 Drama. I'm talking about the homepage slides). Tbh, I felt the same way as you did when watching the episode. Then, after contemplating a bit, I could get behind why FL reacted the way she did. And ML saw through it, that's why he didn't mind what she said. He was not being a simp, he just understood the situation from her pov. I like that about him.
I'm sure FL will see the reason too. She is already showing signs of it in the episode. If ML wasn't holding her hostage, I'm sure she would have thought things through a lot quicker lol. It really did not help the situation.
Her previous leads were jerks, and consequently, most of them didn't have happy endings. 😂 Now that we have a good lead, he will be getting a happy ending.

But Li Ni and Cui Lin aren't in any kind of relationship for Li Ni to dump her.
Cui Lin would obviously grieve the man she grew up with. Although she likes Li Ni, can he still match the brother she grew up with? On the contrary, I would hate it if Cui Lin didn't react the way she did. I would question her character for not grieving the person. Also, when someone grieves, they are often not in their sound mind. And Li Ni, the person who did not help in time (although he had no obligation to do), was seen as an outlet for her to lash out at.
I don't think Li Ni is being a simp. I see him as someone who is clever and calculative, but not ruthless. I guess it could be seen a flaw in his character, but I still like him for it.
