Company (especially YZ) tried to sell their CP way too hard.. created rumours.. both actors fans did not like it and started attacking each other to the point of no return.
What's the possibility of him and Bai lu working together again?
Zero. As much as I want them to collaborate on a project together, I know it's not happening. They had the most natural chemistry, both on and off screen.
Unless they finally come out and hold a press conference together to calm their respective fandoms (that's not happening unless they both get offered a project so good they can't turn down), I don't see them collaborating anytime soon.
I have only 13 episodes left and ohh man I have the same feeling and came here to rant about that :) . There is…
Same here. I tried watching this drama a few months ago. People kept saying about how great the chemistry between the leads was, and I was pretty excited to jump in. I only managed to watch until ep 15 before dropping it, because I also didn't feel the chemistry, and also cringed a bit as you did. I thought I can't go through with this anymore so I dropped it (I just came back wondering why I dropped it, because it's been a while, and your comment helped refresh my memory).
I feel like it's not that there's no chemistry between the actors (they did have great chemistry when they weren't being mushy), but rather, there's no chemistry between the characters they played. The drama would have appealed to me more if it were just about cases and, like you said, an "arrange marriage" trope, etc.
I actually watched Wanted Detective drama right before this, and that drama is everything I wanted Coroner's Diary to be.
It’s better to take a rest than film a shitty script so let’s wait and see what he does
Chinese marketing not-withstanding, you can't deny that the drama also became incredibly popular in the international market with those marketing tactics having no effect to international audience.
Even me, as someone who isn't particularly a SWL fan, also enjoyed that drama very much. Especially since I rarely watch any ongoing drama not starring Xu Kai. Normally I wait for the drama to finish before I start binge-watching it if it doesn't involve Xu Kai.
Anyhow, my point is, since SWL can leave Huanyu and still prosper, I'm positive Xu Kai can also do it. Xu Kai himself has great connections in the industry and he doesn't have to date someone of higher status to get good projects.
Also, if the news about SWL dating a wealthy heiress is just a rumour and not verified, do not post such things here. Xu Kai himself had very bad rumours circulated against him, none of it true. And we were all mad at people spreading them. Give the same benefit of the doubt to other actors.

He left in 2023 after winning the lawsuit. And then started filming dramas since then. He was basically soft-banned by his own company during the lawsuit period.
He's starred in some really good dramas since he left Huanyu. And Shine On Me really did wonders too.
I believe he’ll never take on a script that’s ‘meaningless’. Why are we like this? LolAlready degrading…
Did you read what I wrote at all?
Xu Kai was approached by the drama team, claiming the drama is a solo male lead drama, with other characters being supporting leads.
In reality, they deceived him, as when they announced the drama during a conference, the synopsis suggested a dual ML drama, and more focus on the other male lead instead of Xu Kai's role. Even Xu Kai's team was blind-sided by it.

It IS a dual ML drama, it is being promoted as one.
I actually wouldn't be so opposed to a dual ML drama if the drama team had been upfront about it from the beginning instead of deceiving Xu Kai into signing.

re: Moonlit Reunion -- every artists' team will fight for their artists' interests. If XK's team didn't do their job, it's on them. Let's not blame other artists for XK's team incompetence and bring more hate against XK from the said artists' fandoms.
I feel the same about the recent drama he's filming. His team once again proved to be incompetent. Of course the drama team is also to be blamed for deceiving him.

He liked a script, alright. But did the script remain unchanged? The drama team basically lured him in by saying it's a solo ML drama, but it ended up being a dual ML drama.
I would have supported the drama if they didn't deceive him into signing the project.

They don't even attend same events anymore.

Look at Song Weilong. As soon as he's out of Huanyu, he's got to film the recent big hit that is Shine On Me.

Delayed justice is no justice.
