I finished this drama last week but forgot to rate it earlier. Initially, I would have given it around a 7.5 or even an 8 because of the good earlier episodes. However, there’s one issue I really can’t overlook the repeated scenes where the female lead slaps the male lead. It happens multiple times, and I found it quite off-putting.
What bothers me even more is the double standard around this trope. If the roles were reversed, like in some early 2000s dramas, there would likely be much more criticism. But since it’s the male lead on the receiving end, many people seem to ignore it or justify it, which I don’t agree with.
Because of this, I’ve had to lower my rating to below 5.

I’m not entirely certain, but I recall reading possibly on Soompi forums that the Taek character was cast as the first male role, before the other male roles. Also, since the main characters are shown being interviewed in the future, at least one of them would need to be very famous for people to be interested in their childhood. Taek is the only one portrayed as a well known celebrity, so I don’t think that aspect was changed.
She really isn’t suitable at all. And with all the negative press, what’s the point? She’s neither particularly popular nor an outstanding actress, so why go through all that trouble?
