I loved the show overall. a true story of equals. lead characters were incredibly well written. First I fell in love with the FL, hated the ML for a good amount of episodes but the show was great in giving the redemption arc enough time for it to feel earned. so ML ended up back in my good graces by the end. and showed why he deserved a great female character like FL. and I was fully onboard willing to accept nothing but a HE for our couple. what was especially great was that both ML and FL kept their wits till the end. which is a feat in itself in cdramaland. there was some issues though for me: - weak second characters love stories: I could care less about the romantic lines of the emperor and emperess or the good friends of the leads. I mostly skipped all their romantic scenes. and could only stomach their scenes when it had to do with the leads. but I did like the empress on an individual basis and the physician. - weak unoriginal villains: first the typical jealous exes especially stereotypical crazy women like binglan, her mother and consort xian and the comical villain that is Prince Sui. so the last episodes were a mixed bag for me as it dealt a lot with the villains.
Overall a 9/10. my favorite show and favorite leads of 2024. but yeah 1 point less due mainly to weak ending.
I am posting my anger here, so you can ignore below....I posted a week ago that MDL isn't an airport , so viewers…
I was also thinking that it's not worth it to read comments anymore. as it adds no enjoyment to the experience I'm having with the show. next to some deeply misogynistic shit I have read sometime in the last few days, most of what I read today are novel spoilers or drama comparaisons (without spoiler tags) and those comments have multiplied. I never left a comment section before (and I survived LYF) but I just see no value in reading the same rants every episode. I mean I could also do rants about ML every episode on my side and there is a lot to say but I don't care to. others are free to post what they like but it's just too repetitive for me atp. So yeah peace out :)
how tf are we supposed to get our fix with only one episode at time. These last episodes were excellent: smart, dramatic and funny at the same time. I NEED MORE!
Actor playing ML is so f good. He outshone everyone in LYF and here he is excellent as well. I am enjoying these episodes the most seeing him suffering as he should (previews looking promising too lmao). The actor is GREAT at potraying sadness all while having a smile on. I loved how he is achieving so many things with few actions. these 2 episodes showed how much of a mastermind he is and why he was a worthy opponent if Lu Wen for so long.
Finally all those years we've been complaining for better FLs has paid off this year! WCR is phenomenal as LMT…
the character is so complex it would have become a caricature with a lesser actress. and hopefully we'll get more of these types of FLs now. I think outside of the mydramaliat bubble, this kinda character will resonate with more people looking for full fletched FLs
It actually amazes me that so many people here delight in female suffering and are disappointed that the FL isn't…
THIS! he manipulated her and took advantage of her vulnerable self. if she forgave him that easily it would have been a strong case of Stockholm Syndrome. Glad the writers are validating her feelings of betrayal and giving her space to go back to her old self. I don't understand the demand for a "balanced" suffering. first of all humans are not all the same and people react differently so it's ridiculous to expect both ML and FL to mourn their relationship the same or have the same feelings for each other. And second it's ML that's at fault here, so FL's reaction is incredibly legitimate. I'm glad they didn't make her love sick it would have been so out of character and ridiculous after everything ML made her go through.
It makes me so happy to see the comments saying how the FL is heartless, cold, not suffering enough etc. It's…
lmao it is very refreshing. I felt so much joy with those moments with her uncle . it's so nice seeing an FL not having her life shattered because of a breakup with a man. she has ambitions of her own , and a more urgent matter to attend to. idk but I also after reading some of "hateful" the comments , am falling of more in love with FL lol. ML hasn't bought enough creds in my books for me to like him yet. I will say i am enjoying his suffering
Yup after The Double's Xue Fang Fei and Love in Adversity's Hua Zhithis Miantang is my favourite strong beautiful…
We have simlar tastes bestie ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ those two are definitely on my list. Thank god they appeared and saved this year. But my all time favorite is zhao pan'er from dreams of splendor. I even found a resemblance between the two actresses.
at this point ngl, FL is easily TOP 3 in my FAVORITE FL in a costume cdrama list . I am SOOOO in love with her. her intelligence and badassery are exciting to watch. I never watched the actress before in anything but that beauty and poise. BY GOD!
I personally would never be able to forgive him lmao. but as this is a fictional cdrama, the best result would…
ML didn't know she was a bandit. for him she was a concubine of a bandit who was kidnapped by him 3 years ago. I don't blame him for the initial lies because howerver morally grey that was, from his point of view she was an important chess piece , but afterwards when SML capitulated, there was no longer a reason for the scam . first he tried to arrange her life for her and find her a husband, then arranged to marry her for real once he thought he started to love her. all that while still LITERALLY planting false memories in an amnesiac women and basically playing with her vulnerable brain. not to mention how the fact that he pretended to be her husband in that period in time means for a woman. the level of deceit and cowardice should logically make it hard for her to forgive him.
Quick question if we are the female lead what would we have done would we choose not to forgive him for a short…
I personally would never be able to forgive him lmao. but as this is a fictional cdrama, the best result would be for FL to make him suffer as long as possible from a narrative stand point till she can feel like being able to move on and have her happy ending with him.
