Can anyone explain to me about Spiritual Beast/Pet in Xianxia dramas. I first saw them in Love and Redemption, where Si Feng has one, later Xuan Ji got one too.
In this drama, Bai Jue has Hongri as Spiritual Beast, Shang Gu got Wu Huan, Tian Qi has Zi Han too. But, Zhi Yang don't have one.
Is it essential thing for Immortals/Gods to have Spiritual Beasts??

I know they have same leads. I watched and loved them in You are my destiny. I want to check it out this one. But, I never got to watch the first two seasons. I don't have much time to watch them all. Can I understand and relate to the storylines if I start watching this one right away?
