I don't think China has mastered the Fantasy genre. Hollywood has. :DAll this is because of a war of nationalism…
Really? Can you state some western movies that better than hollywood?
I think better or not. Its still depends on people taste n opinions. Its all subjective.
For me personally, chinese period costume and historical fantasy is better than historical korean dramas. Coz i have a few judgements about this.
Dont get me wrong. My life is full of both chinese and korean dramas.
But for modern drama, Korea is still number one in that field. Especially crime, suspense, thriller, medical, and legal drama. Coz chinese modern drama is more into romance and youth/school/college genre. But some chinese thriller dramas are so great like The Long Night and The Bad Kids even tho still cant beat kdramas thriller.

Even tho there is no copyrights about genre. But people have stereotype about it. Style also the same. Like western and hollywood movies had specialized in scifi for example. When other countries tried to make scifi movies, everyone always compare it to the one that got specialized in that, in this case, hollywood movies. They are very excellent in scifi. Its the same with xianxia n wuxia. They are originated from chinese and they have its own style. From swords to costumes. I know korea got heavy influence from China in Goryeo and Silla era. AOS costume was based on Goryeo and Three Kingdoms style. But netizens were pretty anxious about the fantasy elements. Coz its too Xianxia. I saw you also already read some few comments regarding this issue.
I hope you understand my points. No matter what, i will check this one first after airing before make further judgement. So dont worry about that.

Yes and nothing is wrong with that. Its just our taste is different. We love chinese cultures and its principles. So no need to compare it to Witcher or Harry Potter. Its soooo different. And xianxia wuxia elements are only belong to chinese. Thats why netizens start to compare this AOS to Chinese Xianxia drama.

Have you seen any of historical fantasy chinese drama? If you havent seen one yet then no need to comment about xianxia drama. The witcher etc is sooo different with chinese historical drama. We cant compare the apple to orange. Even the cultures and the elements are also different. We (chinese drama audiences) prefer Wuxia/Xianxia drama to STICK the rules and value of chinese principles. Coz its all about the cultures and respect. Western doesnt put the weight on rules, cultures, and ancestor principles. Thats why western fantasy tv show is more free and more crazily fantasy. Chinese drama is more based on its mythology, culture, and values. Plus chinese historical fantasy is more emotional and beautiful. So you basically cant compare cdramas to european and american shows. Even the cultures are DIFFERENT. Korean culture is heavily infuenced by chinese. They even shared the same ancestors back in thousand years ago.
Well its not surprising. Viki actually will take every drama except some dramas who got exclusive globally license like Netflix and Disney+ had. But the common problem in viki, they only release the full collections kdramas in USA region. Some dramas are not even available in my viki region. Including this one.
Oh yes. I also replied one person who blamed the director. The director never had problem with kisses scene. He was the one who did Ashes of Love and we know how Deng Lun and Yang Zi kisses were so well done and real. So, Its just RJL wont do passionate kiss after he is married.
He did real kiss scene with Jing Tian in The Glory of Tang dynasty. And its more passionate than TBW. Coz he was not married that time. So its true, he didnt do kiss scene just because he is married. After that many ppl criticize him about his professional ethics. And maybe because of that, RJL started to have kisses scenes again even thou its so stiff. But we have to respect his choice. Its already something good that he wanted to touch his co star lips. Its nothing to do with censorship or director. You know what? This director worked for Ashes of love and you can see many passionate kisses between Yang Zi and Deng Lun there. Many chinese dramas also had steamy passionate real kisses, you can see Cheng Yi - Yuan Bing Yan in Love and redemption, Yang Mi-Mark chao in Eternal Love, YAMG between Yang Yang and dilraba, Love Scenery between Lin Yi and Xu Lu. Oath of Love between Xiao zhan and Yang Zi. And MANY more.
Lol sorry, TBW is not his first time. There was The Glory in Tang Dynasty and Forever n Ever first. He did kiss scene with Jing Tian in The Glory of Tang dynasty. You can check it out. And its more passionate than TBW. Coz he was not married that time. So its true, he barely do kiss scene just because he is married. He only did lips touching in forever and ever and done. After that he did many lips touching in TBW with dilraba. The kisses are so stiff but we have to respect his choice. Its already something good that he wanted to touch his co star lips. If we want to see REAL kisses, we can see Yang Yang, Lin Yi, Deng Lun, Cheng Yi, etc already did that. Many chinese actors do well in kissing scenes, even better than Kdramas.
SH is not really suited for acting. Not saying his acting is bad, it just he doesn't give any actors vibe. I have…
Yes, agreed. He often played as a ML in low budget romcom cringe drama like My Secret Romance, Level Up, I Picked Up Celebrity on The street, Noble My Love, etc. BUT its kinda cringe and flat. He was good when he was playing supporting role. Like he did in Oh My Venus with So Ji Sub and Henry Lau. And also Faith. He is actually handsome and sexy but he had no main role aura in him. So when he does ML, the charms is not strong. He is suitable in supporting role with side romance.
Idk with this cleaning up. Its possible for iQiyi to only release it in Taiwan. Maybe they tried to reduce license fee for kdramas. Because "Eve" was only release in 3 countries yesterday (MY, PH, TH) for iQiyi. And its regions blocked. Maybe they will add the drama later in more regions after the eps are completed. The copyrights and license fee should be cheaper than on going shows.
I wanna ask, this one will use face swap technology or reshoot? Coz "Miss Buyer" that released yesterday also used Face Swap Technology to change the ML face coz of scandal. And the result is unnatural. The original ML is Zhai Tianlin who had middle age and chubby face. And they replaced him with Yang Shi Ze. And the result? YSZ face become chubby and weird in the drama.
YSZ is handsome, but the face swap technology makes his face is bloated. Some scenes are horrible to watch just…
No wonder !!! YSZ is handsome but looks weird here. Coz if you see the real actor who played this role (Zhai Tianlin) before, his face is chubby and had middle age type of face. Its very different with YSZ. Poor YSZ to be edited like this. I guess the golden hairpin also will take the path like this to change the face of Kris Wu. Else, they need to retake everything with filming again
The Korean title of this drama quotes about 493 km, wow I'm really afraid of dramas that allude to time, distance…
No lol you misunderstood something. 493 km is the speed of badminton smash. Tae Joon was reported to have unofficial record with very fast smash and its around 493 km/h
Its a pity for this insider. It still doesnt have OTT platform :(( Netflix usually snatch the license for this type of genre. But they dont. Its already D-7.
