Love ding yuxi! Haven't seen yang chao yue in anything yet although I have heard she was great in dance of the phoenix.

I love the synopsis and story but I haven't had good experience with the cast. The only drama I liked featuring Esther Yu was A Love So Romantic. I dropped all her other dramas and the main reason was her childishly "cute" acting (don't mind cute acting for female roles but can't handle excessive pouting, exaggerated gestures and high pitched baby voice) and I've only seen Dylan Wang in Miss The Dragon which again I dropped after 2 episodes (only watched clips of the second lead couple). I really like the idea of an orchid and demon king but I'm on the fence about this one.
P. S. Although I have to say, this is best styling I've seen in a xianxia drama recently. They both look amazing in period styling. Hair and styling on point , definitely

What's the rumoured cast?

I am concerned about the cast, mainly because Joseph Zeng is so good. With the FL, I have just not had a good luck with her dramas, I have dropped all of them... Some after investing time enough to watch 20+ episodes. I am concerned that JZ would overshadow her in terms of acting and their performance would be lopsided. Especially because this is a female role centric story. Fingers crossed, hoping for the best.

Probably the best Korean actor currently. Can't wait for his next project. 😍

It was so cringe, omg. Even NJH's gorgeous face couldn't save that drama for me.

You're right, everything else apart, I am really grateful that we got to see the pairing of WRC and HYX through this drama. Didn't know I needed it in my life lol. I saw the trailer of this drama last year and I remember thinking "hmm what a strange pairing, never imagined these two together". But omg their chemistry is just insane. Even in the beginning, when there was no romance as such, there were always sparks flying between them and I lived for their interactions. They look cute and beautiful together and I really wish we get to see them together again. It's very rare in chinese dramas though that the same pair is casted as a couple again.

I really loved Forever Love. I wish they weren't dubbed but otherwise that is a really amazing drama too. I have it on hold right now, i don't know why I stopped watching it but now I'm not able to get back in it. The story arc with the SML was getting on my nerves even though that actor is freaking gorgeous and his smile is lethal. I will be revisiting that drama though, I remember really liking what I'd seen till then.

A lot of what was shown in the drama is very realistic. I had conversations with people on YouTube who could relate to Xiao ju's experience with first love and unrequited love (i was not able to move on from mine for 10 years lol I wish I had grown up sooner) but anyway, I also wish we could've gotten more of them as a couple. The only remedy to this will be if HYX and WRC are casted as a lead couple again in a sweet and romantic drama with lots of love scenes. Nothing less will satisfy me lol.

That was the worst!!! The bts for those parts were so cute. I wish we had see them in character. Even though I love the skating scenes to bits, I wish they had shown the entire amusement park date. I feel robbed:"( I can't get enough of this couple, seriously

You're right. A drunk conversation would've been better than anything. I think because they had to cut it down from 40 episodes to 36 episodes (which I'm glad they did,36 episodes is already pretty long) , the writers took the lazy route out. I wish they had instead cut down on the dream sequence and given us a real conversation. I am thinking of writing a fan fiction of how that conversation should have been written lol.

I keep thinking about this drama while I am at work too. I think this drama really had that hooking and addictive quality which is absent in most chinese dramas. The ending did leave something to be desired for but I'm not overly mad because they were so close throughout the drama. I have known people like that irl, people who are more than friends but not exactly a couple. So I could see them in the drama. And I was waiting for them to kiss throughout the drama and those scenes were so good!

Yes, her big eyes and lovely smile make her look naturally cute. I see many chinese actresses resorting to excessive pouting and high pitched baby voice to act 'cute' but what I like about HYX is that she doesn't need all those things. She is just naturally cute. I just finished watching her A River Runs Through It and it's the best drama and best couple of 2021 for me. I still can't move on from that drama and couple. You should check that one out too, highly recommend.

I have seen that media is saturated with examples of boys getting friendzoned (especially in our country) so most people sympathise with boys getting friendzoned. Very few examples in media show girls getting friendzoned and we see that in this drama. But people are not sympathetic towards that and find it annoying, the double standards are astonishing to me lol.
